2018 Poetry Form Challenge

#01 Constellation Sonnet

This poetry form was presented by Teagan De Danaan of the Poetic Constellations website. It does not follow the Italian 8/6 pattern, instead it follows a pattern of 10/4; consisting of two Quintains (Either Sicilian or Italian) similarly the Quatrain.
The first one uses all Sicilian Stanza, which gives a rhyme scheme of;
a. b. a. b. a. ..: a. b. a. b. a. ..: c. d. c. b..
Here is an example.

Love Lingered

I worship what can never be mine,
Nor possibly ever pass for what is a dream,
I look at her and wish for a love sublime.
For she is real, and all that love may seem,
And so I will wait and bide my time.
Love is a silly state, that could ne'r be a crime,
But loving fools are happiest in that state,
And have been known to wait a lifetime.
They are happier still when led by fate,
Ever satisfied whilst they hear souls chime.
Souls are easy guided by their lover's eyes,
Those windows betray what beats inside.
For that flash, that sparkle, cannot disguise,
An aftermath of love that cannot be denied.

Like the Sicilian Sonnet, it is possible to use an Italian Quatrain.
The first one uses all Sicilian Stanza, which gives a rhyme scheme of;
a. b. a. b. a. ..: a. b. a. b. a. ..: c. d. d. c..

Another variation is to use two separate Quintains as does the English sonnet vary from the Sicilian pattern and again choose our Quatrain for the final stanza.
This gives a rhyme scheme of;
a. b. a. b. a. ..: c. d. c. d. c.

Here is an example.

Heavenly Thoughts

With a fiery streak pointing the way
We saw a dead star crumble and slowly die
Amazed we saw a heavenly ballet
Leaving behind a smoking scar in the sky
The frightened birdlife screaming its dismay.
Was it a fragment of another world once warm
In colliding with another smashed to bits
Finally arriving here seeing it transform
As it arrives on Earth as a heavenly blitz
And sometimes seen as a meteor storm.
Whatever, there is now something here
Was it the cast offs from another system
And for just a while a glorious solar gem
That has brought Heaven's infinity near.

Awake at Last

Wouldst take thee in my arms for a while
Eternity would be much to short a time.
Thou know'st my heart is so easy to beguile
To leave too soon would be a grievous crime
I happily read thy face and see thee smile.
I feel one kiss is not enough for thee
Rather a thousand I would plant each day.
And my reward simply would be to see
Thy smile lighting up heavens given way
Knowest I know no better to see thee agree.
Someday soon I hope, at least not too long
This is my wish that is felt within my soul
Then as we kiss we will hear the Angels song
To hear thee agree to this would make me whole.

Black Widow

Have a drink my dear, nodding his head
She was so young and he so much older
Looking infatuated with each word said.
So smooth, she loved the lies he told her
Lost in his smile, believing each line he fed.
Feeling victory, he touched her bare shoulder
So confident as he led her slowly to the bed.
His kisses and touches intending to smoulder
Let me help you take off your clothes he said
Grinning more as each touch became bolder.
She cried and cried and let him have his way
Each climax each time the end justified the sin
With the dawn and last release he began to sway
From her bite as her venom took life from him.

Extremes

Oh Love, doest thou know thy brother Hate?
Nay! Please realise that he remembers thee;
Very often it is served up on a rancid plate
For no matter how ignorant thou dost be,
His knowledge of thee could never dissipate.
And shouldest thou seek, perchance, to expiate,
Or wish to make amends for past inclemency
Be aware of his desire to only implicate.
Whilst thou art modest, forgiving in thy decency
He was never ever known to mitigate.
For in thy answer "Learn to turn the other cheek"
How can you love someone who has hurt again?
Not to hate would seem by some to be weak
And so why then is it wrong to hide the pain.

-----

I Worship

I worship what can never be mine,
Nor possibly ever pass for what is a dream,
My heart and soul tell me that all is fine
For she is real, and all that love may seem,
And so we will wait and bide our time.
Love is a silly state, where two fools align,
But fools are happiest within that scheme,
Knowing that love's never aught but benign
And happier still with each of fates extreme,
Ever satisfied whilst their souls entwine
Souls are easy guided by their loves eyes
For that flash, that sparkle, cannot be beat.
So for a while there are just temporary ties,
And with that belief find themselves complete.

Just Wait

But what of hidden places that are dim and dark
Only occasionally will they see the light of day?
Are they any less of Nature than a wildlife park?
Have they a lesser right than us to have their say
Which species will be the next to leave its mark?
Man in his arrogance moves the beasts of fear
They always come back when he turns away
They are persistent and return year by year
In spite of mans work Nature has her say,
I wonder which species will be the next to steer.
What of the creatures that thrive in this domain
Creepy crawlies that feed on mans refuse
The little beasts that are part of the chain
Even for them Nature has an important use.

Kiss of Fire

Speak, your heart will guide your tongue what to say.
Then you'll find your words will with love ignite
Come dawn in sweet repose side by side you will lay
Your words of love be no longer fearful of the light
And smile together still as united you greet the day.
From that time your eyes will speak your words
And needing confirmation with a kiss or two
Will be all that's needed and is most preferred.
A wealth of kissing is indeed a most heady brew
Then it will be diagnosed that love has occurred.
You'll see life together as a normal loving dream
Knowing we will be together for the whole of time
And sing our songs and speak our love in rhyme
Seeing future life's together as a good loving scene.

Man's Bootprint

Once again we must weep for the Earth
Weep for the trees that no longer exist
Few really appreciate what they are worth
Too late will man realise what he has missed
And no way restricting humanities birth.
Greedily thinking of the wealth of his fist
Not considering that he's creating a dearth
And despite strong objections still persists
Removing homes and food in sadistic mirth
And the Earth needs completely dismissed
In his ignorance he still fails to see
That sometime there will come a day
When the Earth will remove the debris
Then man will not be welcome to stay.

-----

Nature

All life and more is in Natures plan
It grows and forms and adapts to strife
It has done so since the very first began
This is the challenge Nature puts on life
The least of which should humble man.
Each plant mutates and has since it began
It lies dormant in sand, sleeping its life
During drought and far better than man.
Then when rain floods new shoot are rife
With the help of sun, see plant life's span
At last new life will emerge and show
After desert rains see how life grows again.
Even in the worst conditions life will grow
The missing ingredient there is always rain.

Out of the Void

Out of the void my love has grown
A cosmic speck, the minutest grain
The God of love has caringly blown
Finitely creating this heavenly domain
Truly out of nothing a seed was sown.
Not of wood, nor steel, nor brick or stone
No roof of tile that will shelter from maim
But a greater force that man's ever known.
Made of love, that will protect we twain
And a pulsing heart, inside flesh and bone.
From timeless space you stole my heart
Now wishing to be with you all eternity
And my love, my life I dedicate to thee
That time or distance could never part.

Preguntas

Would you turn back the hands of time
And live again without any mistakes?
Would it be an adventurous lifetime
And show a face challenging the stakes
Thus living a life regardless of its climb?
Or knowing your way around your faults
This time with care, avoiding them all?
Or carry on as normal but hiding your faults
Then you wonder could you stand tall
Stead of hiding in some protective vaults?
Whatever mistake in the past you made
Would you carefully pass on the blame
Sleeping at night regardless of the charade,
Climbing the heights of wealth and fame?

Speak of Love

Speak, your heart will guide your tongue what to say.
Then you'll find your words will with love ignite
Come dawn in sweet repose side by side you will lay
Your words of love be no longer fearful of the light
And smile together still as united you greet the day.
From that time your eyes will speak your words
And needing confirmation with a kiss or two
Will be all that's needed and is most preferred.
A wealth of kissing is indeed a most heady brew

Knowing we will be together for the whole of time
And sing our songs and speak our love in rhyme
Seeing future life's together as a good loving scene.

Union of Spirits

My soul longed for contact with another soul
We met and then ever so quickly I fell for you
So many things together satisfied our goal
But because of life we frequently said adieu
It was only on meeting we felt we were whole.
We grew used to this requirement in our life
If anything on meeting it strengthened our love
Our relations strengthened there was no wildlife
Feelings that deepened more than most knew of
Who would never live knowing so little strife.
It gets no easier as the years of life move on
Your soul holds the map, mine finds
With the past creating a base to build upon.
Together we'll find Nirvana in our climbs.

Values

I watch the white wispy clouds slowly appear
There is no promise of even one damp drop.
This continuous lack is a really a cause for a tear
Give me one reason why I would wish to stop
Of the promised thunderstorm, there is no fear.
For a miracle to happen would bring such cheer
But once again the forecasters have made a flop
We have read it once again and now we sneer
For the promised storm brought nary a plop
Exactly as all the cynics thought another dry year.
Using committees instead of expert advice
With dams that are low and rivers gone dry
Watching good farmlands die can never be nice
Then politicians play cover-up and spin another lie.

What May I Ask

What may I ask of thee, that's not been answered?
Thy look tells me more than a thousand ways,
I look and wonder how many lifetimes have I waited
And I could gaze on thy sweet face a thousand days
Even ten thousand more and still not be sated.
Time spent with you is like nothing I have known,
I am content to spend my time learning about you.
And a thousand more if only Karma will condone
The evenings and the nights, once days are through,
Will create a Paradise that we alone will own.
We'll create a garden of flowers and scented trees
There will be fruit and other foods in abundance
Birdsong will make us smile and happily prance
When naught else, we'll listen to the buzz of bees.

Bridge of Dreams

As minds reach out to form a bridge of dreams,
her piers will each behold a virtue shared;
truth is the mortar, strengthening new seams,
while hope upholds the arches heaven bared-
fierce honesty protects all well-placed beams.
The road on our bridge is paved with stones,
each gem reflects a treasure love unfolds.
When coloured sparks bear fire to our bones,
soft flames of love will burn in shades of gold;
first virtues' fire cleanses- then it hones.
The passages of Time we slowly slip off our load
we feel how muscles ease and spines adjust.
Upright we move to reach our crossing roads-
we're humbled by Time's bridge's upward thrust.

Eudora's Demise

I'm trapped in spider's sticky worldwide web,
it clings inside my mind and strangles thought;
each added thread puts off the lull of ebb-
resistance's futile, struggling comes to nought.
POP3, SMTP has left me fraught!
I'd always used Eudora mail online;
safe and trustworthy it had caused no pain,
protected me from viruses malign.
Demon's death put me in Tiscali's bane-
Eudora died by Outlook's hands, was slain'
I'm mourning her demise, I'd grown attached
she never was unwilling to dispatch
my mails, she sent, received each one and all.
Developments in modern mail- her fall.

Lord of the Castle

As raindrops patter on the windowpanes,
within, my heart bleeds silently in tune-
the king, who captured it for his domain,
has left to go out raiding, back in June.
My dreams have shown fighting and in pain.
When will my lord come back from his campaign?
My aching heart still hopes it will be soon,
will he return when enemies are slain,
or has his blood been spilled, his armour strewn?
My dreams have shown him captive, held in chains.
My castle shows the banners of his reign
to ward off strangers, aiming for his boon.
Without my lord I will not entertain,
I'm dreaming of the rise of a new moon.

Sky Ships

White sky ships ride on rippling waves of blue,
their full-blown sails are fat from wind's cool drive;
my threaded dreams will fly with them to you.
As kite-tails full of messages arrive,
you will look up and know my love's alive.
As seas of heaven turn to gray today,
each of my sky-ships wears a heavy shroud;
they flock together- none will drift astray
while Aeolus' brute force attacks each cloud.
They lean into his breath, their white heads proud.
Above their crowded bodies waits the Sun,
he tries to peep between the gaps now shown
as finally god's anger gets undone.
and sky-ships are released, when storms atone.

Summer released

As playful winds sweep up wide skirts of trees,
shy Summer finally appears again.
It has been weeks since she last dared the breeze,
fat clouds' held her imprisoned in dark chains-
last night big storms contrived to set her free.
When tempest broke her bonds with angry shouts,
I'd feared that never more I'd feel her kiss.
My heart is settling down, relieved of doubt,
she holds me in the warm embrace I missed.
Her golden face smiles down, on reaching out.
Clouds are no longer, hiding Sun's warm face,
outside my room, his light grows slowly dimmer,
never again I'll see trees' leafless lace,
when winter's grip calls forth Moons' fading shimmer.
