2015 Poetry Form Challenge
#26 Brisbane Sonnet
This sonnet form was created during a working visit to Brisbane during heavy floods and after talking
with some of the flood victims.
The Brisbane Sonnet consists of two sestets and a couplet. The original sestet was based on the
Hymnal Octave form which has a rhyme scheme of a.b.c.b.a.b.c.b. Two of the b lines are removed and leave a
rhyme scheme of a.b.c.a.b.c. by adding another similar sestet d.e.f.d.e.f. and a couplet, g.g., this sonnet
form was born.
The Hymnal used an alternating meter Iambic Tetrameter followed by Iambic Trimeter. As the Australian dialect
has its own natural meter which is a mixture of Iambic and Anapest the meter was set as just any Pentameter.
In the example below the 14 lines have been maintained and the stanza colours changed to give a better idea of
the rhyme scheme.
Today's another king tide, and we'll soon find out
If the last few days rain, will cause floods again.
The streets are clean, and all the mud removed,
The weather proves the ending of the drought,
As mother nature treats us with so much distain,
And once again her might is easily proved.
The eleventh hour has passed, we ease our breath.
As I walk towards the river I see her full.
There is no flood, yet there is still anger there
But will not cause another untimely death.
Black clouds gather again, the outlooks dull,
And once again feel familiar splashes on my hair.
As I walk back to work I revel in the rain,
Who would want to see the drought remain?

- Near in Heart
The pure bright colors of a wild beasts heart
Are tempered by the brush strokes cortex,
Civilized a dull neutral brown palette
As is impasto of love uncharted
On the canvas of two immortal vortex,
Where souls collide and conflict round atte
Center of the sun as dances will do.
Now the trust in fate carries little weight
While atlas holds up our blue marble world
We are wont to wait, not to exchew
Matters of desire but build the state
Of our fire, not as andirons curl'd
About the branches of our universe
But as worlds hurl'd together, inverse.
Near in Heart
Confession is good for the soul they say
So I must say, dear, you have my heart so
Bound that it flies like a bird in heaven
Whose only tie to the ground is the way
You speak my name so tender and so slow
It makes my pulse that flutters a given.
Disclosure comes none too soon for true love
So let me tell the world this blossoms fate
That it may not fall before we embrace.
Let this admission release loves good dove,
Dear, for all my hearts desires are your gate
To open, your sea to swim in with grace.
Now let me fly into your arms again
And let this bluebird sing a new sweet strain.

Forever On My Mind
So many dreams are nothing else but fantasy
So many are just dreams, but you are not,
You are a dream that's real, you are truly real.
I hold you at night, that's no dream it's reality
Every time I hold you I know it's you I sought
Since we touched you are more, you are ideal.
There is something great about the night now
I can dream and each time bring you back to me
And each time I get that perfect, closest view.
There's no words from you each look's a vow
That look from your eyes are all I need to see
That's why I'm awestruck when'er I'm near you.
That's why my dreams are never, ever a fantasy
You're forever on my mind and will always be.
Once again the flaming lord of the skies
With all his splendour comes into view,
Carelessly burning away all opposition.
The sky once white with pretentious lies
Is now an open altar to the minions who
Lying prone, almost naked in submission.
Skin cancer is ignored in favour of fashion.
As their master reaches his climax above,
The lord of heat drains energy from limbs.
Perspiration saturates, stains once clean linen
As Hell has been invited on earth thereof.
Afterwards worshipers ignorant of their sins
Trudge slowly home to air-conditioning,
Cool showers and bad sunburn fixing.
It is not the end, just because we have to part
Rather it is the intermission, merely a pause.
I pose the question, "What of the seasons?"
Just like everything that concerns the heart
Some people say parting seems to be the close
Suddenly winter has struck that is the reason.
Instead say that love's not dead nor can it be
For we know what we have sown will grow
Again it would appear bleak for most to see.
Just as it has, in other times now well past.
There is no doubt now as we both know
We have proof that what we have, will last.
Unlike you I know that I will hide my tears
But like you I know there are no fears.
Just a ghost at midnight
I saw you at midnight, neath a starry sky
Are you a ghost, ever bound to Earth
Or just a soul awaiting your time to go.
I saw white gossamer against your thigh
Perhaps a soul waiting your next rebirth
With flapping wings as if in a Heavenly show.
Are you a ghost, that's ever bound to be
Wandering along mossy paths each night
Missed when searching for a love to love.
Creating memories lasting for all eternity
Gathering lovers with each spectral sight
And promising them eternal ecstasy above.
A night with you would be a lifetimes delight
My prayers would be to ne'r see daylight.
Dancing to loves tune, I spin and turn
Inside my heartbeat skips and pounds
Whilst apart my innards start to twirl.
The fever of love causes me to burn
My eternal love for you resounds
Time and time again you spin and curl.
Each night to loves dancing we return
The sensuous tempo of loving sounds
The fever of love causes me to burn
Souls locked in a heavenly sojourn.
In a ballroom made for loving rounds
Dancing to loves tune, I spin and turn.
Each night with each other we must dance
But what e'r the tempo, it's pure romance.
On looking into the evening skies
Even though you are so far away
Only physically, not in my heart.
Looking into your dreamy eyes
I'm just imagining where you lay
Seeing once again my sweetheart.
Once more seeing your shining face
Then looking upon the ground
Where there are still our memories
Taking me back to a Heavenly place
I would see you so easily found
And listening to that winds melodies
In that cool blowing soft night's air,
Reminded of soft silvery feeling hair.
Would you come back if I could turn back time
I would change things and that part be missed
There would be no pain and we'd go on loving.
Some people say that time is the greatest crime
Robbing both of a future where we ever kissed
We had never met, never loved, instead hoping.
Would you need to come back if time changed
We spoke of love and we promised for Eternity
Other things were said and more promises made.
Now instead what was our love is rearranged
Love has been denied and separation a certainty
Whatever love was there, or promised is dead.
Now the curtain has gone down on our love scene
All I can do is look back and realise what has been.
*(Forgotten English, Credited to Chaucer)
The egg has hatched, the young chick looks up,
Overhead, above the nest she sees the world,
That world is a blue sky and white fluffy clouds.
She and her siblings so soon become grownup
And soon she sees the world open and uncurled,
As she sees trees around and the ground crowds.
Still she loves the sky and what she sees in flight
Until one day she discovered all the gifts of God
It was then she found out about her domain.
She realised her friend the owl saw it only at night
What she saw was different and to her flawed
Sleeping in light, and living in a world of curtain.
There is no height or skyward ascension for her
Yet she is considered wise, whilst in the dark?
Winters black cloak now covers all the land
Spreading her dark cold fingers freezing life
Outside as weather rages with storms sleeting
The colours of life are now hidden from mind.
Withdrawn and sleeping from winters strife
Tightly holding each other, kissing, greeting.
I meet thee my love, sheltered safe from harm
Music, soft sensuous rhythms fill the room
Whilst we closely dance, touching, exploring
Inside soft candles light and log fires warm
Soft gasps and moans fill the room of loving.
Flashes of passion explode dispelling the gloom
And now we pair look into each others eyes
All seeing in love filling the room with our sighs.
Units of Love
Heaven is the kiss that never dies
Fingers are movements down your spine
Sadness is a dream that doesn't live
Worst is the feeling of loves demise
Possession is three words, "You are mine"
Pleasure is the feeling when you give
Music is the joined beating of two hearts
Your heart, knowing how well it flies.
Sometimes a fast dance more often slow
Then there is a dirge when lovers part.
Know true love is never a compromise.
Longing, the feeling that all lovers know
Happy hearing quiet whispers "I am thine"
And the smile, the eyes saying all is fine.
There's a Velvet garden in my heart
Would you like to take a look?
I dare you to come and look inside
Come enjoy the sweet perfume part
For you my heart is an open book
there's nothing from you I would hide.
Rest your body on those velvet roses.
I feel your touch in an exchange of love
Very soon we'll become bound together.
As your resistance to me slowly closes
I feel you come alive in a way kind of
your beauty is colours bound together
Now the tender trembling moments start
Becoming the Velvet garden in my heart.
You once held me so close our souls joined
Our hearts beat as one, but now that is gone
Music was our link, now from that you shrink
I really thought that our hearts had merged.
Now our golden future has turned to stone
Where darkness hours follow daylights blink
So many dreams changed to brackish streams
And those magic words regretted being said
A year from now, will my feelings be the same?
I think it won't be worse, the death of our dreams
Your thoughts have changed, your feelings dead
Nothing really on which to put the blame!
Realising you grew a way opposite to mine
Morally, spiritually, everything is fine.
You Saved Me
Tonight you held my doubting hand,
Whilst the world I knew spun away
You saved me, I've not known before.
Our falling in love was never planned,
You promised colours instead of grey
Tonight your look promised so much more.
I did not want love or to demand
That you would spend with me your day
You saved me in a foreign land.
I opened my mind wide to your plan
And your happy that I'm going to stay
Tonight you held my doubting hand,
Tonight you held my doubting hand,
You saved me in a foreign land.
Z (The third unknown quantity)
Like any other, this year you are lost to me
A shadow perhaps in a doorway
That once invited me to explore
Reminding me from now, memory is not free
A scent I cannot embrace yet will stay
Now barred and locked and mine no more
You are yesterday's reflection in life's pool
I know tomorrow that pool will not be gone
You will become a measure of my mortality
And left me feeling like the Eternal fool.
Two souls united you possessed my one
Reminding me that miracles can never be
I cannot run from a dream I cannot live with,
Yet for a while, you were my life, my pith.

A Bond Within
How deep is this bond of love we shared
Passion lies deep within a lovers hold
Finding peace and pefect harmony within,
Loving hearts shalt not e`er be compared
What spirits were once in past days of old
How canst these feelings be cast as a sin;
As time passes by love shall grow stronger
Each loving day so much more than before
Forever both together until time stands still,
Ours is a love that shall linger much longer
This bond shall be cherished for ever more
And dreams of the past we shall both fulfill;
How precious this love of heavenly bliss
How sweet is the dew of a morning kiss.
Green GrowThe Rushes
Wear ye armour for we`re havin` a ball
Within a dense woodland of thistle thorn
Angus Armadillo composed on his fiddle
All spruced up for his grand curtain call,
Sheep in meadow and cows chewing corn
Garnish and sizzled upon fires of a griddle;
Tam theTortoise felt his shell grow numb
But a slow tempo was all he could manage
Hamish the hedgehog he beat him wi`sticks
While he tapped upon his shell like a drum,
The wee birds eyes couldna see nae damage
And finally agreed he was up tae nae tricks;
A reel o` a tune `neath the wisps of a Willow
Frae auld Scottish fiddler Angus Armadillo.
How Calm The Ocean
How beautifully calm the wide ocean free
Such peace and tranquillity touches me so
With a soothing contata of orchestra strings
And gentle ripples from the deep blue sea
A most heavenly aria with an angelical flow
With voices like angels with soft white wings;
So calm is the music that plays with the tide
How sedately the dance of the salt sea spray
Flowing back home towards the seas shore
This orchestra tamed the great ocean wide
Such peace when those strings start to play;
And remains deep in my memory once more
I shall still hear that violin playing for me
How beautifully calm those moments to be.
Little Greenies From Mars (Part 1)
There were sprites, living here in my garden
Two small green elvin arrived here from mars
On their yearly visit from the realms of space
Most times they remained here quite hidden
From the sun, moon, and the sparkling stars;
Oh so far apart from this strange human race
The weird little sprites had large bulbous eyes
With huge long ears, and a long pointed chin
And a most unusually small turned up nose
They never asked questions and told no lies,
So their secrets were deeply hidden within
But not being familiar with earthling prose;
They remained in silence thro`out the lands
Conversing only by a language of the hands.
By and by, there had come great winds of change
This planet was never the world we had known
Since the martians had once taken their flight
Mother nature was behaving so very strange;
The seedlings of life yet again had been sown
Beneath a full darkened moon on that night,
They could not communicate nor understand
That our future here needed time to put right
Strong cosmic rains tumbled down from space;
Torrents of floods flow across a parched land.
With nothing but oceans now remaining in sight
And earthquakes trembled upon an earthen face;
Go home little greenies you have done your best
If things don`t improve we shall be your guest.
Little Love Pats
When lovers become so mutually attracted
And being so close they can have some fun
Teasing each other with cute pettish names
Sometimes silly, playful, and fondly reacted
It is part of courtship an extremely vital one
Not always serious but with fun loving games
With little love pats, and playful participations
Proves that both are at ease with each other.
Which banishes their thoughts of encertainty
Togetherness is the key to perfect relations
And still they shall both for ever be a lover
Within love they shall both share a certainty
For in fun and games as in love and in play
Both shall then be lovers forever and a day.
Memories of Love
When autumns sunset shone last September
I could see the reflected glow within your eye
And felt the warmth you gave, deep in my heart
We shared our paths of dreams you remember
The calming of the oceans riplets as they sigh
To feel now, how we felt then, shall ne`er depart;
Memories shall be with us both, now and forever
Of love and companionship that we both shared
Holding close the moments we both held so dear
Cherishing those precious days we had together
Not a thing in this world shall ever be compared;
Those memories in our hearts remains sincere
Of that beautiful september, autumnal sunset
For the joys of sweet love, how could we forget.
What would we all do if computers were extinct
With a new invention discovered in their place
Can we all cope with learning something new
Will companys such as microsoft then go skint;
We have no say, if they need change this pace
They are not prepared to hear our point of view
Blame the inventors who enforce this progress
Technology taking place of what we all know,
But aged consumers are now stuck in their ways
Discovering something new could cause stress
They need more time for interests to grow
Pushing aside the need to learn this final craze;
Dont take away these computers if you must
Nor leave them in a museum to gather dust.
I do not hide behind a painted mask
Nor shall false impressions my style
I am as mother nature intended to be,
For much more I shall not deign to ask
But have lived and have cared for a while
What you see now is all you have of me;
My passions are only of the simple things
I do not wish for diamonds or of pearls
The gems that I have are here in the sky,
Not ornate jewels with earings or rings
I shall sport no fancy princes nor earls;
Within a coach with footmen standing by
But I shall be with my lover wild and free
Simply to love him forever as he loves me.
Terrys Ozzie Mozzies
It was way far away in Australias shore
The sun shone hot and the earth was so dry
In the heat of summers dry parched land
Then down came the rains with havoc galore
So much at once they had flooded thereby
Friends helped one another, all was in hand
Floods were conquered heat waves did form
Causing humidity with temperatures high
Then Air conditioners were all turned on
And all of the land went from hot to warm
But humidity awakened the mosquito fly
And Terry in his garden was plagued upon
`Bloody Oath` says he its like a comic strip
Them Auzzie mozzies have bitten my lip".
Bitter is the frost when it bites my fingers
And fierce is the wind that tugs at my heart
So deep is the snow from billowing clouds
When I need my love his kisses doth linger;
Why must it be so, that we are both apart
For warmth enfolds, when love enshrouds
Melting my heart with his soft spoken voice
Where is the smile that doth haunt me much;
Why must we wait for the warm summer sun
Before he enfolds me in his arms once again
When I know this waiting is never by choice;
But worth the patience just to feel his touch
love and warmth we shall both be together
Then cold winter nights shall return forever.

By Starlight's Gleam
In visions that by starlight's gleam revealed
I dreamt I felt my love's own tender kiss
As it's my slumber yearnings took me there
This desire that refuses to be concealed
Each night it stretches o'er my heart's abyss
To fill the hunger my love and I share.
And in those hours we should be at our rest
On my breast droops her pale flower-like cheek
The scent of hair intoxicates my mind
Empowered, my lips seek to meet her test
We know our love can ne'er be mild nor meek
As in heated dreams it is ours to find.
I lift my voice to make a humbled plea
As lost tears dissolve into destiny
In dreams, I see a different sunset
And in the dusk, I see you softly smile
Before I feel the touch of moistened lip
Reminding me should I dare to forget
Love is real as long as I dream awhile
And let my pious inhibitions slip.
In dreams I am with you every day
Each night I fall asleep inside your arms
And yet each morning I find you are gone
If only dreams would permit you to stay
And feed my love with your impassioned charms
So we two once again could be as one.
Not just for the night, as I lie asleep
But through the day so I no longer weep
The Divine Image
In gardens of beauty walks moonlight
I feel her presence on a gentle breeze
As I surrender to her sacred will
In pathways darkened by the mortal night
In supplication I fall to my knees
And slowly lift my face upward until
I feel her loving beam of silver reflect
Inside me; her majesty on my breath
As I learn the wisdom within her ways
Beneath her lunar light I shall respect
The mystery of life as found within death
My new found voice at last chanting her praise
Ancient Mother once more I hear your call
To the lunar lady I give my all.
Gift of Joy
All that is good, it's said, shines in virtue
and loving patience waits in tender care
in gentle thoughts that watch a seedling grow.
One tiny seed we planted, me and you,
when first we met too shy to talk and share
could beauty be born from the things we know?
As it so slowly grew in springtide sun
its leafy shoots revealed a hidden need
and newborn buds reached up towards the sky.
The story called friendship had just begun
just like the buds that stretched from planted seed
a loving tale we found in you and I.
The tender sweet blossom that calls us friend
a gift of joy bound by love without end.
Because the sun shines, I feel the warmth of hope
Through cold and biting winds, I see the signs
And know the sleeping Earth returns to life.
I stare past trails left by icicle ropes
On to the horizon where Spring reclines
In waiting for an end to Winter's strife.
And when I gaze into my crystal ball
I see my silver Lady dancing there
A spark within the Winter's darkest hour
And in her love once more I'm standing tall
I know there is no reason to despair
As life returns from death within her pow'r.
Oh Lady hear my prayer once more tonight
And grant me peace within your holy light.
Through the Eyes of a Witch
A silent blade of grass is watching me
My eyes are gazing in the lily pond
While thoughts are pondering inside my mind
The divine truth is all I need to see
Not much to ask the crystal or a wand
As all around her beauty I shall find.
A Maiden's heart, it shines in purest white
She lifts her face upward to feel the sun
Towards the hazy winter sun, she turns
The Hunter smiling rays of morning light
Their story of love once more has begun
As from winter's sleep life on Earth returns.
My eyes are closing to this distant place
And I feel divinity kiss my face
Without you I am incomplete; alone
A mere shadow of the whole that we are
Without you to lift my heart it cannot beat
In fear of breaking never to be one
For love has taken its hold from afar
Without you I am alone, incomplete.
My eyes see only hazy reflections
No shape nor form, just like in early light
The world waits to be gently awoken
My mind lingers in this introspection
Waiting for whispered senses to ignite
And fuel my fire in your words; unspoken.
Without you, I am incomplete today
Yet, still I love you in every way.

Reason A Poteet
February's New Normal
Kneeling at my pew in contemplation
bewildered by the news again today.
My heart in prayer cries out for those who sculpt
their new normal based on fragmentation -
new normal formed from broken clumps of clay.
The angst and hunger cause us all to gulp
with indigestion, some tasty rumors -
the tough fare which the media serves us
with nuance and troublesome intentions.
News which preys on answer-starved consumers.
What's missing is the element of trust
and truth which rallies comprehension.
We all share the loss, we all share one God.
New normal requires prayer without facade.

Somewhere In Time
Somewhere in time two lovers kissed
Fate looked down and began to smile.
She is not heartless and never cruel
But recognised that true love exists.
And so time stood still for just a while
Seeing that this was indeed a jewel.
Somewhere in time the lovers wished
Separate upon the fullness of the moon
They wished that they could be united
Thus creating a mood of supreme bliss
And even more that it would be soon.
So fate stated they would not be parted.
The moon and stars all witnessed this
As somewhere in time two lovers kissed.
The Twenty-Four Styles of Poetry
1. - The Vital Truth (Masculine and Vital)
As suggested by Sikong Tu
My spirit feels strong and I'm at peace at last
May we exist like the sombre rice paddy
Always at peace with the flooding water,
Aware of the present, remembering the past.
Sometimes our debt has been paid so badly
With too much thought of life and slaughter.
Acknowledging it's presence for what it was
Nature's way of proving our lack of ability,
And ignorant of all except our personal need.
Who in the city will care to defend her cause
Stepping forward showing Knightly dignity
Thereby mentally planting the truths first seed.
But politics and truth can never exist together
The hidden agenda is guaranteed to sever.
2. - Morning Breeze (Placid)
The presumed peaceful weather remains
We see tall coloured images on the water
Sending out wafts of scent on the morning air.
The breeze sighs gently over all its domains
Causing the lake to shiver in ecstasy after
And the purple jacaranda wave as if aware.
There's a gentle dampness clinging to the breeze
It has not been exposed to the heat of the day
So instead delivers a very welcome chill,
That an air conditioner would cause one to freeze
Causing the receiver to smile and thankfully pray
Stepping onto the green cushion with a will.
Avains screech warnings of me, or is it to me?
Whatever, neither need fear from what I see.
3. - Content (Graceful)
I return to spirit land and the mood within
The pipes of pan have awoken and drawn me
And I'm at peace with the world and about.
In this kind of world there is no form of sin
I look around and nothing wrong can I see,
Nor need I raise my voice, silence is a shout.
I feel the gold of peace, the silver of content,
Wave after wave of music flows in my mind
Bringing me closer to peace than I've known.
Closing my eyes I realise what Buddha meant,
I breath in and finally connect to similar. kind
After a while I realise my spirit has grown.
I breathe and hear the change that is within
I hear lapping of waves and chanting begin.
4. - Dialog of a Kiss (Potent)
What drug can be more potent than a simple kiss
It can destroy empires, yet bring heaven close
And cause a high that lasts forever and a day.
I do not smoke so that's nought that I would miss
Yet to be gauche, I could compare thee to a rose
Even tongue tied, speak of thee, come what may.
Thy lips with mine is so much dialogue indeed
Needs aught be said, when souls have said it all,
Nor aught be heard when feelings fill the heart?
The eyes transmit the truth, unproved by deed
And agree and state what ever shall befall
That not even eternity could cause us to part.
Then once again I see that soft shy smile
And now you know why my heart you do beguile.
5. - Mantra (Ancient Heavenly)
I often read what the masters have written,
And get the feeling there are spirits around
Celestine thoughts repeat their message again.
Feeling myself transported, as if bidden
And though not knowing where I was bound,
I know it would be foolish for me to abstain.
Each time I read I find myself more at peace,
And becoming much more spiritually aware
I still have to make that step; Nirvana's close.
Breathing steadies, the mantra beats decrease
How to reach that step now seems so clear
There can be no doubt, the way I've chose.
The mantra beats match my heart and spirit,
Why did it take so long to realise this is it?
6. - Etude and Ambience (Classic and Elegant)
We drink a glass of the tasty wine of age
It has been drawn out of a barrel of years.
Now it’s mature it’s a very heady brew.
I look back at my past in order to gauge
The fermentation caused by so many tears
Realising experience like wine is never new.
Food is from the seeds of achieved dreams
A salad may be created from the leaves of time
Sometimes the sauce may be bitter with regret
Yet sometimes savoury is the only way it seems
Especially the ones that are well past their prime
And need to be well garnished with ambiguette
Music in time with my heart, to match my mood
Wine, good food, such ambiance, a perfect etude.
7. - Feeling Better (Washed and Refined)
The heat of the day has now past for a while
Feeling grimy I take some time to shower
And for a very short while feel human again.
That very same thing, gives me reason to smile
Watching a bee flit busily from flower to flower
Curiosity, wondering is there something arcane?
The shower has cleaned my body and my mind
And I feel again the ache, the need to write.
My mind's blank, as yet my muse cannot caught
So through the events of the day I slowly rewind.
It's dark; I'm helped by my affinity for the night
There's a new palette with some fresh thought.
And so I start to write, what will emerge
I don't know, it could be wisdom or a purge.
8. - Content (Graceful)
I see the surf and hear the pounding waves
If only more realised the energy of the sea,
And the powers of the heavens and Earth
Realising how many were impostors slaves.
When they finally recognised the true deity,
Then they would realise their own true worth.
It is an endless road we will forever walk
Regard this walk as a joy think of the reward.
Consider the meal at days end, and also life
Love is the energy that feeds us, do not baulk.
Enjoy the fruits of nature, you won't be bored
Always eat your food in season, avoid any strife.
Greet the day with gleaming eyes, and willing smile,
At the end of time you'll find 'twas all worthwhile.
9. - Common Sense, (Decorative and Pretty)
You talk to me of pretty things and such.
And in return I ask, "Is a Van Gogh pretty?"
It is considered by many to be a work of art!
I'm not guided by critics thoughts very much.
There's more beauty in the wild than the city
And there's a different meaning to being smart.
Pretty is only based on today's scraggy model
A thin young bag of bones is no more than that
Realism's a lusty wench to hug and to hold
I'd rather there be flesh when I have a cuddle
Someone to laugh with rather than laugh at
And fashion model types leave me cold.
A mature woman is a very different thing
When you love her she makes the heavens ring.
10. - Fools Paradise (Natural)
Examine each plant, every one is so different
Their colours and structures in some way vary
And just like fingerprints none are the name.
Touch the petals, feel the colour, taste the scent
When with a plant there is no need to be wary
And like humans, each one has its own name.
Each plant breaths in, changing what we breath out
Every child in school is taught this basic fact.
Continually, we chop down trees and build more malls
We concrete o'er the growth that prevents a drought
But when politicians are told, they refuse to act
And no-one is able to grow food on brick walls.
We can't eat what's not there, or breathe what's gone,
When will man realise two can't eat and breathe like one?
11. - Duty First (Implicit)
Need words be said when looks can say it all
Actions speak louder, and say much more as well.
Is that why when I touch you, you smile and look,
Making me desire you, no matter what may befall.
There's no way I can deny you even one morsel
Of my heart, I know you can read me like a book.
Yet I know its time to let go for quite a while,
And for that while we must live very far apart.
Consequences of our time together's only dreams
And only in dreams will I be able to see you smile.
You have mine yet I can never own your heart
And you'll only be concerned with others schemes.
I could never live in your world so I must agree,
But in the future only time will be able to see.
12. - Fanaticism (Bold and Unrestrained)
Where, were you when it all began,
Equally I could ask, "Where was anyone?"
And the creator was busy on that first day.
Seven days to do this are the words of man
Does it matter how long or when it begun,
The problem is letting man have his way.
A day, a year is only the time of science
Ten billion years could be celestial day
This is something some fail to understand.
We need time so we have compliance
Literary time is never the scientific way
It certainly isn't what the creator planned.
Many biased believe their right and others wrong
Passionately believing, all singing their songs.
13. - Beach Dreaming (Vital Spirit)
I watch the surf break on the sandy shore,
It's close to midnight but there is no end
The moon has brought her own mood with her
The white crests still give off shining silver cores
That falls back to darkness and once more blends
With the mass that will crash into the interior.
A surf beach has a different, much fresher smell
The constant crashing of the powerful waves
Purges the periphery, preparing the virgin beach
Each breaker kisses her but then waves farewell
She may be covered awhile this is how it behaves
But then it flows away once again out of reach.
Whilst savouring the smells, we saw another side
And let us pray it's never taken as a bride.
14. - A Kiss (Careful and Meticulous)
Reaching out I can feel your lips with my hand
I can feel the sigh as you inhale again
And hear the purr as I lightly stroke your cheek.
Stroking your hair, so lightly strand by strand
Your head softly moves in time to some refrain
Eyes closed, you kiss my wrist in lovers speak.
Head moving in ecstasy as I stroke your neck
I feel you arch as nibble and kiss your ear.
I hear your breathing now telling me things
Things like you wish to kiss me, I give a peck
Followed by a kiss with the intent to sear
Finally a kiss that makes all the bells ring.
It started with a touch all those years ago
And it will never end, Fate told me so.
15. - Eagle (Carefree and Wild)
I watched an Eagle as she flew on high
Circling and soaring just below the clouds
Truly majestic with her wings outspread
She's the undisputed Queen of the sky,
Up there, aloft, away from all the crowds
She was surveying all the land she owned.
She has no wealth, she does not need money,
She has no need for what most men, hold dear.
More men should observe her, make notes, and learn
She has food, and drink and a regal dignity,
And like all Queens she has no sense of fear.
Whilst of other worldly things she has no concern.
She has what she wants, needs nothing more,
And truly is, "Her Majesty" just see her soar.
16. - Bushland Alive (Lucid and Rare)
I wander through the wet green bush
Fully aware now that I'm not alone.
The bush land talks and is revived at last
The Kangaroo paws, saris, and the bottlebrush.
It's amazing how quickly they have grown,
We were in drought, just seven months past.
No longer hidden from the crimes of man
Again her true value is able to be seen,
By clearing shrub and all dangerous growth,
Capitalism and others are against this plan.
Against some wishes, the scene's natural, green
Proving once again natures wondrous worth.
Mans crime's ignorance, denying traditional acts,
Ignoring the truth of natives who live by facts.
17. - Hero or Victim (Oblique and Winding)
The road through life is never straight,
It always twists and turns, up and down.
Going early to your destiny, you miss a lot
You get the morning haze, you don't wait.
The others are about their work in town
And you have managed the front spot.
But you started early there was things to do
You missed the important lessons in life
That only life and time and experiences teach.
And you missed them by jumping the queue
Was it your fault, or a victim of some strife?
If 'twas your fault, then 'twas a serious breach
So once again you'll have to start your climb,
I sincerely hope you have more luck next time.
18. - Queensland 2011 (Actual Scene)
I could not believe the actual scene I saw
Water running down streets in full flood
River banks had burst and overflowed.
We were in drought one of nature's laws
And nothing we did was any bloody good
Down here the bush was ready to explode.
Then September came and with it the rain
Up North the farmers smiled at bumper crops
And once more breathed a sigh of relief
The drought had broken things were normal again.
Then suddenly they started praying for it to stop
Because what they were getting was beyond belief.
Houses washed away, we can't help them at all.
Instead we're trying to do our best hoping levels fall.
19. - Usted es Muerto (Sad and Poignant)
I never ever said that you should go,
But you left me on my own anyway.
You know I want you to come back,
And now your gone time goes so slow
If only I could find there was a way
I do know we'll meet along the track
It was agreed that I would go first,
That always got a smile from you.
When you went it took us by surprise
I wish somehow time could be reversed.
I know it's too late, but what am I to do,
How could I prepare for your demise?
Even though your gone, I know your there
In spirit only but I know you care.
20. - Unworldly Love (Descriptive)
For a short while we shared a home by a lake,
It was enough for two and occasional guests
And we shared it with the wilderness around.
Solar power produced every volt we’d take.
We lived and loved, feeling we’d been blessed,
Waking up each morning to nature’s sounds.
Each morn we’d wake up wrapped together,
Your head upon my breast, my arms around you,
I spent my life there with you living in ecstasy.
I’m sure you realise that life is never fair
Suddenly I was called, but we’re not through
Every night I visit, it’s always you I want to see.
Our home’s still there waiting for us by the lake
Next life I’ll take you there, make no mistake.
21. - Fellow Travellers (Transcendent)
When I'm with you, we do not exist,
At least not on these Earthly plains.
Our souls merge and become as one.
The mortal remains are left to assist
As soul partners not as heavy chains
Showing we're there for the long run.
We transcend above this Earthly sphere,
And stand watching the Earth below.
We know in time there must be a call,
As bodies weaken from year to year.
Yet being together see our spirits grow.
Always together no matter what befalls
In time we'll walk towards the gates,
Holding hands, like true soul mates.
22. - Untied (Floating and Serene)
I am alone, and my breathing deepens,
And feel my chi enter down the centre path.
Closing my eyes, I see the smoke, feel the lift
As I exhale the bad air and begin to cleanse.
Lightheaded now probably the aftermath
Of impatience in wanting my spiritual shift.
Without this peaceful break I would go insane,
And for a while I'm allowed time for myself.
The day has gone, work’s finished, I am alone,
To relax, and feel at peace, and breathe again.
It is during this time I find peace itself,
When all the pressures of the day are blown.
Then my body takes over what's left of me
My spirit and I bond and I'm as I want to be.
23. - Relove (Big Hearted and Expansive)
Each life we spend so short a time on earth,
Even less, what little we spend together this time.
This time we're spending in autumn for a reason
And that is to appreciate what our loves worth.
Each life we've helped our souls' Heavenly climb
We always started early, now it's the late season.
Did I mention life, did I mean more, much more,
Perhaps the break's intended to give another view.
My dreams or memory remind me of other times
I wake up from dreams of our past love, still in awe;
And though a dream of the past was still of you
When we lived and loved, in other clime's.
That time will occur again, a cause for more dreams,
In those dreams more events of future happy scenes.
24. - Finale (Flowing)
My thoughts flow Heavenwards oh so easily,
And after a while my muse comes down to Earth.
She reads, then deletes it all, and then writes hers,
I've spent an hour writing away quite happily.
She deleted it all showing what mine was worth,
I am her student, and she's my teacher of verse.
It's reassuring that she's out there, guiding me
I start to type again, to see what she'll say.
And once again her words flow into my mind,
Somehow her thoughts seem to float to the keys.
The wonder is, she is here almost every day
A minute more, I type, and this is what I find.
Should I type more, or stop, it's really up to you?
This is my twenty four styles, I'll let you view.
back to list
I see thee and a twinkle in thy eye
A curl of lip as it hides a gentle smile
Nervous touches as your fingers graze mine
I long to hold you, hear my fervent sigh
You are my dream alive to linger awhile
It is on your heavenly charms I wish to dine
Be my love and forever hold me tight
What we have found is forever and a day
You light up my love with all the things you do
Always in my eye you are true beauty's sight
It's by your side the place I want to stay
You know my darling, how I do love you
Our lives entwined to halves to make a whole
Beyond eternity shall be out one true goal
Look Around You
Far in the west I watch the red sunset
Above the desert of long white washed sand
A crimson of beauty alone in the sky
A place where the earth reached the sky and they met
Laced away from the orb waned a purplish band
Surrounding my heart I heard myself sigh
The visions of nature that are often displayed
Yet many times we don't look we're too busy to see
Wrapped in our daily seeking of self pleasure
To see what surrounds us is often delayed
So stop, smell the roses, it's really quite free
And you'll find at your footsteps a bountiful treasure
Take time to see enjoy a world so fine
Grab hold of the beauty and let your eyes dine
I often hear or read the term, "thoughts by the masters,"
never spend time to think about it, of no import.
Many so called masters come to my mind;
some of word and thought and some spell casters,
some of whom there is no true retort,
some of whom even put my thinking in a bind.
What makes a man or woman then a master?
What have they done to shape the course of life?
What have they done to rise in our esteem?
Are they heroes of some past disaster?
Have they found a way to end all of mankind's strife?
Or are they just thoughts afloat on a dark beam?
I may enter meditation seeking as I wonder,
Why the masters entered my brain to plunder
