#11 Sonetto Rispetto

Like all Italian Sonnets it usual to have the same sestet, ie Italian Sonnet, Italian Sestet, similarly the Sicilian Sonnet. There is a third Octave and that is the Ottava Rima and any sestet, be it Italian or Sicilian produces a sonnet form known as the Sonetto Rispetto.
The octave form for this is, a. b. a. b. a. b. c. c.
and to complete this sonnet we can use the Italian Sestet, d. e. f. d. e. f.
Lost and Found

I lost my heart to a heart unknown
Hidden deep within my tangled mind
Around which has hard callous grown.
I did not look for love nor expect to find
My mind was set and my heart like stone
And to all temptation I had gone blind.
Now there is one that claims my soul
Finally one who makes me whole.
On waking I think still of my heart
But now I can see that it is well,
Held in the hands of someone
Who was a stranger and now a part
Who gives a look to me as if to tell
"Your mine, together we are one".

Terry Clitheroe

There is however the Sicilian Sestet to consider, d. e. d. e. d. e.
I am what I am

I am what I am, there can be no other way
My will is strong in order to survive
I am still standing at the end of the day
While lesser men hardly know they're alive
And while other men kneel down to pray
Against all odds and down, my spirit will revive
Like the eagle I will spread my wings and soar
Like the king of beasts silence others with my roar.
For what is man but the ruler of all beasts?
My spear and shield is my mind and will of right
And while Jackals and carrion have a lesser feasts
I win my feed and feast each day by might
While lesser men stir restlessly in their seats.
I close my eyes and sleep throughout the night.

Autumn in Maine

The cold, sombre, purple skies of fall
Are memories precious to all now.
The screaming of children playing ball
Replaced by gulls foraging for chow,
In white capped surf that covers all
And crashing waves that dig and plough.
No crusted bread torn and fed by hand
Or peanut-butter mixed with sand.
White silver scars pattern each dark cloud
A very different sky from a summer's day.
Gone the ghetto blasters booming loud
And the screaming tyres as teenagers play.
Wintery rain from the forming shrouds
Makes the road a varnished black highway.

-----

Comenzo con un beso

Two pairs of lips had met for the first time
Surprised, they looked, then kissed once more
Each time a precious gift, a feeling so sublime
Senses came alight and feelings began to soar
And with each kiss feeling began to climb
Knowing that this was all they had waited for.
A gift to be shared between him and her
Each knowing throughout they would share.
Feeling his arms around her, drawing her close
His lips upon hers so gentle, yet arousing her
His touch the same, you never wanting freedom.
That look he never ever wanted her to lose
In looking he knew that the future they'd share
And how close in any time they would become.

-----

Dawn

Still the Heaven is dusted with less bright lights
No longer shining an invitation to guide your way.
Tired now, ready for bed after a night of love sites
Guiding people on their way and lovers to love by.
Mars's departed also after a night of causing fights
Carefully avoiding Jupiter, who has relit the day.
Although the moon is no longer inspiring delights
The sun will waken them and show her display.
Birds awoke before the day and spoke their poems
And now have flown away to tasks and work again.
The aroma of the rose begins and that of lesser gems
Gently sending out their cool fresh wafts of Heaven
Enhancing the day, and removing all problems
For isn't each day the beginnings of a new creation.

-----

Escape at Last

To learn to love, you must first learn to cry
Our bodies and minds are conditioned by life.
Offer your heart before love says goodbye
Show your emotions don't be stoic in strife.
Smile looking at her; let her see your eyes
Realise now lies are deadlier than a knife.
For too long now, my heart has been asleep
And slowly through joy, I'm learning to weep.
At last it has become the time for you to cry
I have looked in your eyes and I see your tears
As anger and frustration from inside you die.
You have held it inside you for all these years
Here beside you I wipe the tear from your eye
I'll hold you and kiss you, removing your fears.

-----

How Long

"Tell me how long will love last," you asked.
If it is true love then it will last whatever.
You've only to realise how much we've amassed
And see how much more we can endeavour.
Then you realise that together are unsurpassed
So that Fate is on our side and will be forever.
Each time we speak I look deep into your eyes
Realising spending Eternity together is our prize.
Couples meet and fall in love and then fall apart
It was not the one and their fate realised this
And two lovers became just friends or worse.
Hatred or betrayal, usually ends with the heart
And what was love usually ends with remiss
Feeling as tho your love has become a curse.

Lost and Found

Hidden deep within my tangled mind
Around which has hard callous grown.
I did not look for love nor expect to find

Karma

Would you turn back the hands of time
And live over again without mistakes,
To show to age a face without life's grime
Unscarred, living a life that's full of grace?
In returning to when in your youthful prime
Would you, most all your early events erase?
Be very careful before you make a decision
What events happened did so for a reason.
The scars we bear are souvenirs of a past
And the lessons learned, hopefully move on.
Greater heights of wealth or fame surpassed
Are they needed to help appreciate the dawn?
Rather they are millstones that cannot last
Then when faced with death, all is gone.

-----

Me Hablaste de Amor

You spoke to me of love, a love extraordinary
And yet we are no different than any other pair
In our love, we know it's what we want to be
We are two lovers that do more than just care
And no less for giving to each other completely
Instead each day our hearts believe what's there
Realising the depth of love twixt you and me
And it is ordained that it should last forever.
Each time you speak I feel my heart beat more
I see the light in your eyes what could be better
And my soul is now forever linked with thine.
To be thine and you mine is all I hoped for
With you I have found the ultimate treasure
Now I know we'll always be on Cloud Nine.

-----

New Skies

Someone left a clipped fingernail hanging
On a velvet sky, pretending to be a moon.
Wrinkled trees stand there branches moaning
Feet buried in dirt hoping rain will come soon.
Old cotton dressed like fog slows down driving
Except for the red, hot car driven by the hoon
Rich man and poor man slowly creep forward
And for that, a day of toil is there only reward.
Unseen is the shimmering fog bank of the bay
But above that morning mist there is still sky
Through them still seeing stars shimmer and sway
Like diamonds across rich breasts catching the eye
And once seen, unable to drag the eyes ever away
Till honking horns and flashing bring back reality.

-----

Out of a Void

Out of a void my love has grown
Not even a cosmic speck, a minute grain
Existed before a seed was sown,
Now it is an infinite mighty domain
One in which you completely own
Losing you now would cause only pain.
Not of wood, nor steel, brick or stone
But a pulsing heart, inside flesh and bone.
From timeless space you've won my heart
A celestial being that has won my soul
That time or distance can never part
Two separate beings that’ve made a whole
My life and love I dedicate to thee
Wishing to be with you for all eternity.

-----

Pensamientos de noche

As twilight begins to dim the evening sky
You hear the birds giving their final calls
In between the trees echoing daytime's sigh
Seeing shadows lengthen as suns light falls
Finally the sun sets and we see the day die
It is then daytime scene becomes black walls
All references change to become those of night
And tactile senses replace those of sight.
Suddenly the wind changes as though it's sleepy
All the birds have finally ceased their chatter
And we hear the bats leave, seeking fruit again.
The moon, the stars light the sky there's naught creepy
Hear the rabbit and other creatures pitter-patter
It's all a wonderful part of the nights refrain.

Autumn Landscape at Dusk - Vincent van Gogh

Surrender to Me

Surrender to me it has become the night
Is not night the time for lovers and dreams?
Together we will love and plan till morning light
My reward is your smile and loving eyes gleams.
And when the moon and stars then take to flight
We close our eyes for a while forgetting schemes.
While bodies rest our souls will soar into the sky
And make their plans for the rest of Eternity.
Surrender to me it has become the day
I bid thee seek not dreams this time, merely stand
I shall take thee with me and show thee the way
Perhaps from time to time I may take your hand
Meaning it two fold, that also asks "Please stay"
These are not words I speak please understand.

Zen Conversation

The dark abyss of anyone's soul is not a void
Just undiscovered and waiting to fill that void

For the hidden secrets waiting therein
That are to be found by a searching mind
Looking with eyes that see deep wherein
Sometimes anticipating what is to find
Using ears that hear all that is within
Using senses that see when all else is blind
Suddenly aware of a different kind of notion
As though standing at the edge of the ocean
Questioning whether to wade into the water
But afraid that there may be sharks.
Or just wading in the shallows just in case
Diving in regardless of any kind of slaughter.
In reality isn't it just Politically Correct remarks
Or excitement of thought making the heart race.

Eating wild fruit, learning how to fly,
what more is there to live for?

After Shakespeare

Prepare thyself for a falsity of poetic form
For this is not a Shakespeare thus I know
Let it not mock the heart that is ever warm
For stanzas to come it shall as evenly flow
Unto a calmness that ever halts the storm
It may be then that I shall reach a plateau
But Shakespeare has no Scottish ancestors
They were never to be his future mentors
Old English shall not depart within speech
Roman was never a tongue to understand
He brought the past forward to the future
Until an old English tongue within his reach
Had taken from old and brought all to hand.
For past decades there was no finer a tutor.

Anatomy Of Love

Tell me my love what do you feel inside
When the passion of love shall bear true
The feeling of love shall never be denied
For what was started shall never be new
The love we have shall never be deprived
Deep feelings are both as linked unto few
That all too often we both think the same
This situation that shall bear not of shame
The closer we are when we are both alone
No other moment shall discover otherwise
When the elixir of love shall forever flow
Both lovers shall forever be united as one
Like the ebb and flow of the oceans rise
Shall take few to master yet two to know.

-----

Born to be Free

When I was but a child I walked alone
Within quiet country lanes to meadows
It was there that my interest was prone
Midst dark boughs so dense of shadows
Never afraid of being there on my own
For within myself so much interest flows
I had loved the breeze to caress my hair
Peace perfect peace I could never share
All I ever craved was there all around me
My friends were of the whispering bough
Within dappled shade of a wooded glade
Twas there I felt content wild and free
Though gratified I was then and for now
What once was my haven was no cherade.

-----

Inner Feelings

It is warmth that shall ever entice me
With lingering breath of a lovers sigh
This alone may release my love free
Pleasures of love I shall outward cry
For a love within is so simple to see
No queries are answered as to why
Yet loving is much of a natural need
It makes the world go round indeed
And I shall be the first one to follow
Instincts that tell me so deep inside
Go with the flow with inner pleasure
Not just a whim shall make love grow
It is all around us so far and so wide
Yet only true love as e-er I treasure.

-----

Joys of Love

Warmth within possessed a lovers soul
Softly pulsating senses deeper within
Reaching a climax that renders whole
How shall affection be classed as sin
When an affection is beyond control
It is then the joy's of love shall begin.
Hot is the night of smouldering desire
When the heat is on to light loves fire
Both hearts beat out a desirous tempo
All within touch of a love everlasting
That shall forever be recalled as a sin
The joy of love may reach a crescendo
Fingers within soft flesh are grasping
'Tis then to quench the flame therein.

-----

Rebirth Of Past

I who emerged from the dark unto light
To awaken to a fantasy of love reborn
Cast no shadow's upon a darkened night
For a sun shall appear within the morn
Reflections on a river may show bright
Amidst golden meadows of ripened corn
Where an old cotton mill runs through
I had felt within the touch of deja vu
For time itself had delayed the clock
Yet reflections remained as the same
Within waters of the old mills stream
It may be that I was within a time lock
And my soul returned the eternal flame
Yet all had vanished within my dream.

-----

Regresa A Mi

Unbreak my heart tell me this is not true
Just as I needed love we both fell apart
I shall ever recall the love we both knew
I hold dearly to amend my broken heart
Love had been as ours then me and you
Yet it was over before it ever did start
How could this hurt be such of a torment
When love began it was just heaven sent
May those moments return once again
For lessons learned to forgive and forget
As good times shall out come the sorrow
May we walk together down lovers lane
These moments shall not be over as yet
All was yesterday past much to borrow.

-----

The Right Time

Shall this be love, with words unspoken
All to be revealed within a lovers eyes
When hurt prevails as hearts are broken
How may sorrow's hide within disguise
Was not love to be as much of a token
To break a heart shall be most unwise
But how can this be love upon remorse
Within a mortality forever to reinforce
May it be there is a right or wrong time
To hold fast the love they had together
Time only shall tell when lovers gain all
When lovers hearts may fall unto rhyme
The right time may be now and forever
There may be no more tears ever to fall.

-----

Sacred Of Hearts

It is warmth that shall ever entice me
With lingering breath of a lovers sigh
This alone may release my love free
Pleasures of love I shall outward cry
For a love within is so simple to see
No queries are answered as to why
Yet loving is much of a natural need
It makes the world go round indeed
And I shall be the first one to follow
instincts that tell me so deep inside
Go with the flow with inner pleasures
Not just a whim shall make love grow
It is all around us so far and so wide
As deep within lies sacred treasures.

-----

A Sad Refrain

I feel the pain from strings of a violin
For sadness within cannot be spoken
Of a broken heart that festers within
Flowing tears were never of a token
An eternity of love may not be of sin
For vows within shall not be broken
Yet sadness reflects on violin strings
Like a bald eagle lost without wings
There shall be naught to do in the sky
For there is no comfort within to find
Even the slightest of breeze shall sigh
Only what is shown within the mind
But the strains of a violin still relies
Upon a temperment of another kind
That reflects all within tearful eyes.

-----

She Who Was

She was once only a painting on the wall
A lady of nobility within high renown
Enhancing charms of beauty to recall
Within her flimsy satin evening gown
That hung for Centuries wide and tall
Nobody had the heart to take it down
For her spirit remains within this room
An image of the past admired by all
Who was she that had stolen the heart
Of all who placed their eyes on her face
So enhanced by her beauty still as found
Stone by stone the walls were taken apart
Yet her image still shall remain unto grace
Upon future shadows of a past rebound.

-----

Spirit of an Ocean

I am but a vision no more yet no less
What you may see shall not be as real
Though the shadows of past impress
My lips and my voice forever I seal
Not a soul shall ever feel my caress
Within ageing hearts touch may heal
The gentle emotions of past time lost
Only within hurt shall reveal the cost
Yet what was once only within visions
Shall fade away within winds of time
when all may be left but sun and sea
Fate of the future makes no decisions
Rebirth of love within a future clime
Where an oceanic spirit reigns as free.

-----

Technical Hitch

The feeling of being cut off from all
Was to be all that I never expected
I was ever there forever upon call
Now I am so hopelessly rejected
Shall my pride goeth 'afore I do fall
Trouble picks a time to be selected
Just as I was getting an act together
This I cannot blame on the weather
Technology is not what seems so be
Nought that anyone could rely upon
There is no trust within future ways
If only time improve's for all to see
The future we praised was only a con.
Upon truth we have seen better days.

-----

Youth Unto Maturity

What may a woman hold dear to her heart
That naught within age shall take it away
It is never too late for a romance to start
Ignore not what may be yet another day
Time is short for mature lovers to part
Shaded visions may soon fade they say
Pathing a way to an eternity predicted
That within the depth love as inflicted
Shall be within warmth of loving eyes
Mesmorised moments of love`s rebirth
Throughout an eternity shall never fade
That no sweet sorrow may ever surmise
For youth shall be out of childish mirth
Her maturity of love may be no charade.

A click declares they have been seen and read
But it is the lie we all know we tell
Terms and conditions we have left unsaid
All that small print where hidden clauses dwell
But we have better things to do instead
As on a click we assume all stays well
And we do the same on a moral view
Believing lies when we know they're not true
We stay silent as they steal from the sick
As if it is something to be proud of
A hungry child - are we bothered to care
When believing all that political slick
In a hostile world how can we know love
Without seeing all that is really there
