#05 Changing Direction

There are times in life when a piece of music or a few lines of a song or a poem will comfort us, make us smile, raise our sense of worth or lift us up in our saddest times and may even help us change perspective and see the road ahead. The challenge is to write on the thoughts you use when the chips are down and you need to pull yourself back up.

Without a Clue

It's complicated, what does that mean?
I cannot see what cannot be seen
How can my heart understand you
If left to die without a clue
Yet it dreams of what might have been.

Like bad movies on silver screen
I am left tainted and unclean
The answers hidden in what's true
It's complicated!

Thinking over a mug of caffeine
Vivaldi brings a sense, serene,
My eyes look out upon the view
Now I must do what I can do
And find myself while in-between
It's complicated!

See You Soon

Terry Clitheroe

Expediently Turning

With the darkness, the skies close in
As if searching for the heart within
For in that heart it knows there's truth
That daytime only knew in youth.
Where does truth end and lies begin.

And man soon forgot truths origin
Expediently turning it to sin
Till honesty only dares open its mouth
With the darkness.

Find truth and justice is in ruin
What chance is there for any loving?
It is with dawn one should renew,
Remove falseness like a rotten tooth
And love and hope will fresh begin
With the darkness.

Just A Little While

For just a little while I am there
And then too soon I must leave,
Sometimes with just a little tear,
But each time we meet we build
Upon what we wish to believe.
Each meeting removes some fear.
Each meeting builds upon our trust
In each other and lifts our love higher.
Each meeting tells us that we must
Give in and completely open up.
What is night but another chance of fire
Offering a cup from which lovers sup.
Each meeting removes some fear.
Offering a cup from which lovers sup

Understanding

Those moments together that we spend each day
Are they for real, sincere, or a waste of time,
Should I be looking for love a different way?
X marks each kiss we give, announced with love,
Leaving the most important until the final line
Reinforcing all that has been said above.
All love and trust like gods are built on belief
So to love and trust, you must truly believe,
Otherwise doubt comes along like any thief
Stealing all hope for any future life together.
Then at least one lover is left alone to grieve
When with a little faith could've lasted forever.
Those moments together that we spend each day
When with a little faith could've lasted forever.

Varying Things

Varying things, what would you do?
Would my face be changed to another's view?
Just thoughts that wander around my mind
In absence of you I try to find
Stupid settlement of a thought, I need a clue

You've moved on I gleam from knowing you,
And cast aside the past, inside you grew
The past you knew would be declined
Varying things.

There are no regrets, you've bid adieu
Welcoming thoughts and dreams anew
Thus I find hope, no longer blind
Hoping our future will be combined
For now I trust what you would do
Varying things.

Zero Change

I always find this time of year
To be the most trying time of all.
Spring has left us without any fear
Summers heat now drives all forms of life.
Wherein all creation desires rain to fall
Without it there is naught but strife.
When autumn comes there's no relief
April showers are nought but a dream
Whilst winter robs the heat like a thief.
Global warming makes it all the same
With nature testing all to the extreme
And we're still left needing more rain.
Without it there is naught but strife
And we're still left needing more rain.

Voyage Of The Moon

When a summer moon hide's behind the clouds
And darkness weaves sudden flow`s of tears
So bleak this earth that shows no sign of light
When shadows of the moonbows disappear.

Bleak the raging winds that violate this night
That teased the calming ocean unto a storm.
Causing floods and destruction thro` this land
Ne-er a break the weather violently informs.

Too soon shall the birds on the wing follow
Fooled by the onslought of unatural force
Season's are not as they were meant to be
Weather patterns have diverted the course.

But this does not mean our planet shall end
Even this old World is overdue for a change
Doing what it has done so many times before
'Tis why Earth appears so dark and strange.

Winds Of Change

So softly the winds of change blow
Giving natural harmony an inner glow
With meditation of mind and of soul
That nurtures deeply within as whole
Calming peace that enters the mind
As pressure of the inner self unwind
At one with nature rhythm created
Of the earth sky and waters related
An inner depth within a future time
Chants of mantra that flow in rhyme.

A Fountain Pen

It’s time to give my pen the leading role
Too long the silent words have been ignored
In youthful dreams I left behind my soul
For living life against the truth of self
And nothing seemed to strike a joyful chord
My mind an empty book upon a shelf
Back then I thought I’d let the chance slip by
So surely now it must be far too late
My dreams could be nothing more than a sigh
I wanted more than a verse now and then
But writing wasn’t meant to be my fate
Until I chanced upon a fountain pen
My mind an empty book upon a shelf
Until I chanced upon a fountain pen.

Sam

Look in the mirror, dude, what can you see?
Mismatched promises of the things to be
Unanswered questions of reason and rhyme
Lost in the crevices of passing time
While battling against calls of destiny.

Unethically crude cuss names maybe
The strain of living in reality
But being yourself is never a crime,
Look in the mirror, dude.

See the warrior who fails to agree
Denying others the right to live free
Is the true path to the righteous sublime
See the warrior who knows that's the crime
And stands with pride for all humanity
Look in the mirror, dude.

Zero Tolerance

My brother rests in deepest sleep,
While by his side we stand and weep,
The goddess called to take his hand
And lead him to the Summerland
Our sense of loss runs ever deep.

A change in law too slowly creeps,
Desperate needs and talk is cheap
Zero tolerance they have planned
My brother, rest.

To the heart the grief is too steep,
Through emptiness the anger seeps,
In your name we make our demand,
Enforce the laws that they have planned,
The joy of life is never cheap
My brother, rest.

See you Soon

The sandy path that leads downhill
And brings you to the watermill.
A favourite place we used to go.
To watch the mill wheel turning slow.
It's not the same when you're not there
I find your absence hard to bear.
Your time was up you had to go.
I know you didn't want to though.
When you are called you must obey.
Just spread your wings and fly away.
I am content, you are at peace.
But I must wait for my release.
I'll join you where you wait for me.
Together for eternity.
