#02 Quintilla or Spanish Quintain

The Quintilla is a 16th century Spanish Quintain form of eight syllable (Iambic Tetrameter) lines. The rhyming scheme can vary in presentation, but only two consecutive lines may have the same rhyme pattern.
In the example below, Pat uses a. a. b. b. a.

A flickering flame, on the wall
The sound of a, coyotes call
The desert winds, singing at night
Sandstorms dancing, in the moonlight
Embracing lovers, to befall

Pat Bibbs
Here is a lovely example by Sharon where she uses a rhyme scheme of; a. b. b. a. a. .

Your quiet cries echo loudly with pain
I feel you suffer in silence
Honest open hearts lend true credence
Comfort found in friendships gained
Toss me the key, let's free your chains

Doggie Devotion

We have been told they're man's best friend
But they can drive you round the bend;
Though they've been spoilt I must confess,
And by whom is anyone's guess,
I love my little dogs no end.

For Nicole

Nicole although we never met
I knew your parents very well,
And I can imagine the hell
They must be going through: yet
You made your mark, we won't forget.

Post Surgery Blues

The surgery was a success
Although the patient nearly died.
Almost eight days we spent beside
Ourselves with worry. A most stress-
ful situation I confess..

Quasi Dragon

A dragon methinks in disguise,
Displaying their best qualities,
Until to my immense surprise
He changes right before my eyes;
Two distinct personalities.

Terra Firma Fan

I will not try to understand
I will not wonder or debate,
Would not matter at any rate;
It's like stepping on shifting sand,
I prefer being on dry land.

Tree Savvy

The wise tree knows well how to sway
When strong winds would blow it away;
Just so if we are not to break,
We learn to bend, to give and take,
In this great game of life we play.

Bitter Roads

When deer paw the earth, you come near,
Though moon be your home, not right here,
Thoughts of you take me down a road
Nowhere near, just farther I rode
Into saturnine Grey frost tears.

Winterfelleth and our season
Fell out of Junes warm reason,
And we became fallow, mere friends,
Or another reason to send
Love into mourning for treason.

Rain and Sun

Rain and sun compete for the sky
As we wonder whether clouds fly
For any other reason than to pour
When our earth cannot much more
Contain skies tears nor thunders nigh.

Loud buzz of cicada remind
Me of what was, but lost is love,
What finds this heart isn't a dove
But a trembling in darkness blind,
A howling that shivers like wind.

Yellow Moon

I've no idea why I cry
Though sun gets into my blue eyes,
Perhaps it was the yellow moon
That caused a sigh instead of swoon...
But was because you said goodbye.

Feathered Dragons

The Aussie dragon has feathered wings
Never been sought by knights and kings
The Golden scales that attract that lust
Have been dulled by layers of red dust
Coolabahs are used for important things.

The Gods of water realised all this
When they appointed where they should exist
Where water prefers to be underground
And they must dwell where it can be found
Or by dried up rivers and reminisce.

Gone is the good life like those distant friends.
The Gods always have ways to make amends
Here they have friends from all sorts of life
The roo, the parrot, man does not cause strife.
Look ships!! How long now before this ends?

Green is Good

May I rest please, my day's ended
S'not my world, don't want it to be
This is not what I want to see
I realise what needs be mended
Man's doings have you offended.

Heeding closer nature's warnings
Thus floods and storms and melting ice
Means that we should be thinking twice
Tsunamis and such warning things
Means no exception e'en for kings

Ride your bicycle or use the bus
Four wheel drive shopping is canned
SUVs should all be banned
Public transport should be a must
Small cars, bikes and walking are plus.

How Can I?

How can I tell you I love you
I know it's what you already knew,
But it's something I like to say,
Not once, but many times a day,
From when we first met, till time's through.

The ways of love I have to praise
That we can prove this to be true
And every day our vows renew
It's a waste of time to count the days
And even more to count the ways.

Now take my hand, with it my heart
We need not vow that we won't part
Eternity has not enough time
To prove to you our love's sublime
And if I have, when do I start?

How Great

How great is love when I look into your eyes
How greater is my desire hearing your sighs
Yet how gentle is my touch when it is you
How soft are your kisses, each one renews
Promises of love that only the Gods devise.

How great is love with nothing one need say
When looks and touches have paved the way
And kisses even an Angel could not resist
Would press for more and even Heaven insist
That our love would last beyond the final day.

Now I look into your eyes and into your soul
Seeing is realising what has made us whole.
Knowing together we will share eternity
Knowing what fate has intended us to be
And that our love will be another’s goal.

Naked (Almost) in Alabama

Melbourne airport has gone and lost my things
Chances they were sitting on their fat arses
Possibly talking about girls or horses
And not paying attention to things with wings
So the bastards have gone and lost my things.

I'm really up shit creek without my things
All I haves my 'puter and what I'm wearing
I've worn these clothes for over 36 hours
I smell like I need at least sixteen showers
Because the bastards went and lost my things.

It's bloody freezing here without my things
Here with the aircon stuck on freezing
I've turned it off or tried to I thought
But it pumping out air temperatures naught
Because the bastards went and lost my things.

I'm waiting for a phone call about my things
The plane with them on gets into LA soon
Will put them on the first plane after noon
I pray that the gang of semi useless dings
Have got off their arses and found my things.

It's amazing how much you miss your things
My toilet bag is over ten years old,
I need shirts and socks to keep out the cold
And also jackets and some other things
Just 'cause the bastards went and lost my things.

Made me smile hearing your name
Having made me rue all those years
Spent crying those frustrated tears
Knowing you never felt the same
You were merely playing a game.

You and the Toad how you would laugh
Watching me struggle on my path.
You and he gaining from my work
Like a puppet who's strings you’d jerk
And in my sweat you both would bath.

I lost completely for a while
As the problems on me would pile.
Now the boot is on the proper foot
You are the ones covered in soot
I sip my glass of wine and smile.

Sans Love Version 1

Sans love this world's a useless ball
Soulless beings with no use at all
It throbs with life of kind and sort.
See it pulse as the creatures sport.
So much love hear it's wondrous call

Sans Love Version 2

Sans love this world's a useless ball
It throbs with life of kind and sort.
See it pulse as the creatures sport.
Soulless beings with no use at all
So much love hear it's wondrous call

Unequaled Sounds

Hearken to the wing'd pipes of morn,
Sometimes the shrill sound of newborn.
Sometimes a soft caw from bird to bird
A softer sound than mans harsh word
Thus surrounding bush which sounds adorn.

Unequalled sounds have poets in tears
Unable to match these sounds with words
Yet it's natural to these gifted birds,
Sounding their joys as well as fears
Then off in flight to sing with peers.

Several times a day I pass by him
He looks familiar somehow
Someone time didn't disallow
The facial scars have now grown dim
Once athletic, no longer slim.

My father never got this far,
Or grand dads, I've raised the bar
I have done what I have wanted
And never ever been daunted
But not looking like a film star.

Yet the mirror still hasn't seen me
Inside I mostly feel thirty three
That silver hair is blond inside
A facade I have long denied
The outside, inside never agree.

Their sounds speak of longing for you
The pains of absence have no voice
I fell in love and have no choice.
In absence remembering all we do
Whilst together making dreams come true.

Our existence is the dust of life's road
Love is the fruit of it's orchard
And a gift that's never too hard.
A weight that can never be an overload
And hand in hand is easily strode.

Take my hand my Autumn Angel
We will walk together and not fly
Eye to eye assured love won't die.
How can it when we love so well
Knowing Cupid has cast his spell.

Xactly Rite

Tears falling, mixing with my own
I hear you when you quietly groan
Your look when you smile from your heart
Your touch, saying we'll never part
The future now is so well known.

As I hold you, you grip me tight
You will relax within the night
But in certainty of return
Rekindling that heavenly burn
That only love can ever ignite.

You Are Always
Your love is like a brilliant sun
I woke as our love had begun
The glare of morning in my eyes
My realisation! My surprise!
My discovery! You are the ONE!

Now we're apart I cannot sleep
My crime, my habit's much too deep
Without you, just a vacant shell
A mind, a body, that worked well
But realisation is still asleep.

Then I awoke realising WHY!
Absence, not lack of sleep was why!
No soul to warm an empty bed
No ear to hear what e're I said
And hearing finally, my souls sigh!

Book of Many Pages

So many words are spoken of trees
Natures past that revels in glory
Through every leaf it tells a story
A rhythm of an incoming breeze
Summer's sun or winters freeze.

Snug are the birds that nest within
Upon high with not a thing to fear
To sip upon morning dew drops tear
And nurture upon the fruit therein
Survival of life shall e'er begin.

A tree is a book of many pages
Every season has a tale to tell
For nature weaves her magic spell
That may follow on thro' the ages
Upon earths wondrous living cell.

He held my hand I held his too
And all the while interest grew
I asked him was this to be love
That glowed like the stars above
They say it only happens to few.

He was to be my first you see
What was his interests in me
And how was I really to know
Shall it be instincts that show
That releases this tension free.

I was warned never to go near
For I had my chastity to fear
But it was hard to fight within
How could his love be such a sin
When I felt that he was sincere.

For a man shall lead a merry dance
Within the name of pure romance
Courtships to entice whatever may
Treats you gently within his way
Or he may not get another chance.

Chinese Romeo And Juliet

An ancient tale of the Yueju art
China's Romeo and Juliet depart
Within a Zhejiang Province stage
Where lovers were coming of age
And blossomed within their heart.

But parential order interfered
Just as the lovers had feared
Here entered the golden rule
Education came first at school
A seperation of sex appeared.

Zhu Yingtai disguised as a man
As best that her intentions can
Unknown by her love Liang Shanbo
Sworn brothers was a way to go
And this was the start of her plan.

Truth leaked out she had been wed
Magistrate`s son shared her bed
That had grieved Liang to his death
He never had drawn another breath
Zhu Yingthai wept sad tears of dread.

Sat by his tomb that opened wide
Leaning towards him leapt inside
For evermore shall listen to sighs
When both emerge as butterflies.
Freedom for love they cannot hide.

Cuckoo Wake Up Call

Soon shall the cuckoo sing her song
Amidst the morning mist of spring
So graceful she flies on the wing
Yet her spirit shall remain strong
To survive for a life time long.

Spring is the season she awakens
To all sweet blossom that flourish
Derides from nature to nourish
Pollen upon the honey bees shaken
When the nectar therein is taken.

But still the cuckoo sings her song
Distinctive sounds no clock can make
It is she that calls them all awake
Whether her time is right or wrong
Spring shall awaken all season long.

Eye of Nature

Take me back to hills of the downs
Plush the valley of patchwork browns
That an artist paints with laden brush
Meadow surrounds of tree and bush
The joy of natures seasonal gowns.

To climb the hills and look beneath
At various patterns upon the heath
When stood below we cannot see
How valleys look so wild and free.
Of golden corn within a sheath.

Not a thing like a birds eye view
Of where the wheat or barley grew
To appreciate country landscapes
Of the shadowed hues and shapes
Once upon ignorance nobody knew.

This land is part of our heritage
Each season is a brand new page
Our ancestors lie deep within
To ignore them would be a sin
One day it shall be we the sage.

Forest Fire

Crazy horses stampede in the wild
Frenzied eyes within fear beguiled
For forest fires were burning fast
Advance forth their future to cast
As it was of man woman and child.

Wild flames with an inborn manic
Breath of foam from a fiery panic
Charging forth in a wild stampede
A steadfast mustang takes the lead
Thro' what was once green organic.

Galloping forth towards the river
For water alone is the one life giver
A smaller herd but all is not lost
All that is left shall count the cost
Which a herd wont fail to deliver.

No Going Back

To look back on the old place again
May bring so much sorrow and pain
For things never stay as they were
No one from the past shall live there
No railroads with broken down train

Buildings then reduced to rubble
Were not worth bother and trouble
Remains relics of yesterday`s past
Nothing then was ever built to last
Upon bare grassy banks of stubble.

In days gone by this was a haven
Where unkempt men sat unshaven
But they were as happy as can be
Sat on a bench beneath an old tree
Upon a drunken spree heavily laden.

The ladies back then had vanity
Wearing worn out rags scantilly
A stitch in time then saved nine
Smart for a day was all very fine
For she was blessed with clarity.

This old place shall not be the same
Modern living shall take the blame
They say there is no turning back
Good old charm is what it may lack
Like spent candles flicker of flame.

Silhouette of Love

In the mists of an autumn night
Starlights above all out of sight
You stood before me and I you
Eyes had spoken of love so true
This love within had felt so right.

Silhouette`s of our eternal love
Through the mists of a moon above
Within the darkness love shall grow
Taller than shadows may ever know
Upon a night made for love thereof.

Such the feeling that dwells within
Tension released shall bear no sin
Together love may forever be
Within tender passion ever free
Touching hearts with love therein.

Within this precious hour of needs
Shall the cards of fortune foretell
Or the coins within a wishing well
Shall it be that this love succeeds
Or shall I require a different spell.

Hocus pocus your my hearts delight
The wizard of these mystical dreams
To tease the sense of lust it seems
That invades my sleep thro`the night
Until spells of sweet content redeems.

Come conjure fate within your arms
With a spell from your magical wand
You can assure my love shall respond
'Neath the power of mystical charms
So entranced far and beyond.

This is Love

She saw before her the piano keys
He had played many times before
But for his fate he played no more
'Twas just a memory of silent pleas
Yet deafness was no known disease.

Many times he had played their song
When he had the heart to compose
Within sweet music bloomed a rose
For love was their's a lifetime long
No matter what may ever go wrong.

Sadness once had brought them fears
Of feelings then that made them sad
Their life was then the best they had
While parted love may shed sad tears
Memories linger through the years.

He saw before him the piano keys
And with them he played as before
True love had shone forever more
With hope and faith and expertise
As he played their song with ease.

Warmth Within

To feel this warmth of love around
Whispering words so sweetly sound
That melts my very soul within touch
Tender moments that thrill as such
It is then that love shall be bound.

This warmth shall bear not of fear
For pleasure's of love are so dear
Of which shall warm a lovers heart
That bore the pang of cupids dart
While flames of love are ever near.

Where there is no joy but sorrow
There is ever another tomorrow
When both lovers shall again unite
'Neath the glow of a starlit night
It may be then true love shall grow.

Whispering Willows

Grasping her fingers thro`the earth
Fingers that grip the depth of life
Shall not this tree suffer more strife
Surviving unto death from her birth
Whilst her boughs shall offer worth.

Long within this earth she survives
Within ancient times to foresee
The land in peril once more revives
Upon the roots of the willow tree
Yet boughs cascade wild and free.

She sways within a gentle breeze
And bows to a wild wind blowing
When dormant she ceases growing
Mellows within the winters freeze
A mystic scenario borne to please.

Within Silence

Words cannot describe how I feel
How shall I know that love is real
When silent thoughts remain deep
That awakens sad dreams to weep
Heart felt tears I cannot conceal.

I only know what is right from wrong
But inner hurt plays the saddest song
Within words that speak of silence
Love may not offer foolish pretence
Nor may tears of silence prolong.

Why then does this love hurt so much
Shall it not mend with a gentle touch
Certain smiles upon a certain face
Can only make a lovers heart race
And drive all the pain away as such.

What Agenda

Just the two of us, having fun
My guy, my Sam, still number one
Enjoying each day together,
We coast like a floating feather,
Till dusk bids goodnight to the sun

Jem Farmer

If you could look beyond my smile
And see for just a little while
Beyond my flesh to inner pain
Where all is lost with naught to gain
The tortured soul always on trial.

If you could see what lies behind
The scars that can only remind
Of times to which I won’t revert
Distractions called to stop the hurt
With visions of truth running blind.

My secrets held so deep inside
A soul so lost it had to hide
The truth of self, lay torn apart
And stone replaced my gentle heart
So no more angry tears were cried.

But then she came to hold my hand
With love a dream could not have planned
Her eyes looked beyond to see
The person that is really me
And I begin to understand.

Remember when we were best friends
The hours we spent just talking through
The night. Our dreams of love, fears too,
In all life's hurts we'd comprehend
As broken hearts begun to mend.

I can't forget the joys we shared
The laughter when no one else cared
And still we speak every day
Come rain or shine we find a way
As soul-mates, you and I are paired.

Midnight Dust

We're caught beneath the moon and stars
Two souls entwined, in love like ours,
As roses joined by moonlit pools
Reflections shimmer silvered jew'ls
Serenaded by songs of nightjars.

The silver dust that lingers here
To dance upon the midnight air
As precious love we now declare
The silent pulse we overhear
Two souls dance where there is no fear.

New Hope

The gala of light brings new hope
To wintered vale and mountain slope,
The Snowdrops peek at waking light,
The spring is coming into sight
And in the pasture lambkins lope.

Making plans for the coming year
We look forward with growing cheer
The goddess smiles while in her muse
To lift the heart from winter's blues
And from the earth let magic appear.

A quizzing look what you s'posed to be,
A stranger's glance, they don't know, see
They whisper queer behind their hands
My short, short hair on my neck stands,
Not he, nor she, I am just me!

Silencing Thoughts

What is the love that blushes red
Upon my cheek, yet leaves unsaid
The words my heart desires to say?
What is this love that burns all day
Silencing thoughts inside my head?

It is the love I feel for you
In quiet times between us two
It is the love I feel without
Theneed to scream, or yell, or shout
It is the love that makes me do.

Travel Unafraid - Cyclic Quintilla (Experimental)

Tomorrow, today's smile will fade
And die within yesterday's shade;
The past can hold no real delight
It mocks the sun upon the night
For time must travel unafraid.

The blue skies seem so boldly bright
When hearts are proud and know no fright
Yet when night comes and darkness falls
It is then we must have the balls
To look beyond the fading light.

In the darkness a dream recalls
The painful times of building walls
That barricade the senses in
Then hold us back as thoughts begin
To see the place an angel falls.

How lost are we of shallow skin
Who dare not let our senses spin?
But life is not a masquerade,
If we should let our dreams persuade
The thoughts of loss that they can win

Weight Watching Poets

Calories in everythin'
All add up to that fat or thin
You cannot eat that, you must eat this
A poet can rhyme that with a kiss
Are words therefore also a sin?

I wonder if I should cut
The endless cups of coffee but
I'd only drink my tea instead
I need caffeine to clear my head
To tighten up my lines somewhat.

A poet diets to shed those
Old clichéd words that oft disclose
Too much. Not enough is worse
It is a curse of written verse
Perhaps I should then write in prose.

Where NoDreams Dwell

I sit alone weary and tired,
Again the darker thoughts acquired,
To take me down where no dreams dwell,
The clouds of doubt billow and swell
And nature leaves me uninspired.

I gaze upon the world I knew,
And see nothing is ever true,
Then turn away, put on that smile
Pretend I'm fine for a little while
Inside my heart is bleeding through.

I wonder what I am fighting for,
My soul cast out as once before
I wonder who will take this life,
By bullet shot, or sharpened knife,
Left cursing until there's no more.

Who is that woman I see here
Who she is seems very unclear
With her short hair feathered with grey
I see her stare at me each day
How did she thus come to appear?

L'Oreal it seems makes her go
The creams and dyes that gently blow
The webs of time away from me
Inside my head I'm thirty-three
Not that old bird I do not know.

Entering You Eyes

Never seen such beauty before
I fear, if I don't act, I'm lost
Lost, never to soar his soul nor,
Shake away the bittersweet frost
Love Words through eyes, will be embossed

I explore his eyes; no others
I lose myself, yet feel secure
Behind the waterfalls, it's pure
Pure heaven, pure like no others
At last finding answers to cure

He alone melts my aching heart
Youthful feelings now come to mind
Warmth has entwined like gracious art
Our qualities mesh, I impart
Through loving eyes, love's now refined

Kiss Me Now

I roam the greatest of mountains
Swim the deepest parts of the seas
A divine creature to obtain
Odd number of heads, man I be
A mythical animal, yep that's me!

Numerous countries think I'm grand
I can be a snake, baring claws
I can grant wishes in your land
I've swallowed the moon without flaw
At times I'll squeeze to hear folks awe

Changing looks as I span the earth
I'm a hot item shooting flames
Breath's poisonous, at times not tame
Kiss me now, I'll give you new birth
In Folklore a mirthful lands worth

Nuts To You

Sure am happy to be with you
Isolated with squirrelly friend
Gathered bits and pieces, been through
I love my nutty squirrelly friend
Laughter and comfort till the end

One Beary Nice Day

Had a bare of a time to rise
This morning tangled up in sheets
Yet I was baring a smile to greet
Anyone who takes me by surprise
Finely arose, jumped to my feet

Looked in mirror barely recognized;
Was indeed looking cuddly fine
Outdoors I met some bare, bear guys
Thank God their hair hung to their thighs
Went to the local pub to dine…

Sat at bar amongst friendly bears
Invited to see etchings rare
Excusing self my eyes did see
Mister Beary Cuddles, wow-wee!
Talked, snuggled like bears in lair

I barely know Beary the bear
He seems to be the one for me
Some doubts I have of this affair
Seems too perfect, what's wrong with me?
I'm so confused yet want to be…

Having fun with Beary on the beach
Can't stand high mountains and bear's breech
Yep, I'm a strange bear; yep that's me
Love to cuddle and stay in reach
With Mister Cuddles; which agrees!

We're ready to sleep under stars
On the beach without humans 'round
Soft sand, better than rocks by far !
Yes, I love him, does that sound, sound?
Night, night till mornings dawn comes 'round

Life's been grand with my huggable bear
Raising our darling chubby cubs
Keeping in touch to show we care
When old Beary bears at the fair
Sure miss my nightly massage rubs!

Sitting knitting sweaters and hats
Being alone again once more
Reminiscing of this and that
At times laugh and roll on the floor
Near a dull moment we bore

Since trainers had to kill Beary
Wildness set him off at the fair
I pray each day to be merry
I'm insane without my Beary
Today I'll attack at the fair!!!

Broken Wings

My love can't fly with broken wings.
Her voice in sighs, no longer sings
of wondrous vistas she once saw
when flight was easy, without flaw.
Her feet are tethered by strong strings,

She can't shake off the hurts that prey;
within cold words that slap her ears
rings venom she can't place, yet fears.
Once golden days have turned to grey
and icy winds blow night and day.

Where are the times that she could soar
high over fields she would explore?
Warm summer winds carried her high
as exultation made her cry.
Through frozen windows breaks no thaw.

Dragons' Search

As wars were ravaging the earth,
darkness was sucking heaven's light;
yet kings and elves went on to fight
and sent out ships with men of worth,
in search of means to ward off blight.

Their leader was a trusted knight
who knew the wizards of the realm;
he told the sailor at the helm
how best to steer them through the night
and reach the land of sacred elms.

There, in near forgotten days,
most dragons went to lay their eggs.
The knights had made three special kegs
that could ward off black wizards' gaze
and keep the eggs from changing phase.

At last they found a shore, ablaze
with flowers in many hues of red;
here, the eldest wizard had said,
the mighty dragons came to play.
Two eggs were found- in awe appraised.

Dragons; Wait

Three precious eggs the world once bore,
they looked like marble, darkly veined
and cold to touch, yet life remained.
In vibrant layers within each core,
a dragon slept, destined to soar.

All fire creatures had been slain;
these last three eggs were living ore,
conceived in dragons' final roar.
While earth was ravaged by campaigns,
the seed of greatness still remained.

According to most ancient lore,
these eggs would one day help sustain
earth's freedom, when she would be chained.
Three waiting dragons en rapport,
that one day soon could hatch, explore.

Between soft mantras and my ears
ever strengthening threads appear;
each repetition of their song
brings waves of cleansing light along.
As silence grows, I listen- hear.

Thought-clouds drift by till mind is clear,
I feel them leave my inner sphere.
Within your realm, thoughts are not strong,
their hold on me they can't prolong-
it is dissolving- disappears.

I am enfolded in your peace,
where daily worries come to cease.
My heart and soul know pure delight
as my whole being fills with light,
rejoicing in newfound release.

With sticky threads she weaves her trap,
designed to catch and hold her prey
that's kept alive and on display-
till in the end she'll suck its sap;
her bloodied jaws shut with a snap.

While victim's heart is bleeding dry,
her bloated body spreads out wide;
she's taken bone and flesh inside,
her gluttony has gone awry
as sanity was pushed aside.

She can't digest all she took in;
her insides burn with venom's bite,
it boomeranged her own black spite
and churns and knots now deep within-
she'll perish of rebounding blight.

Parrots attack!

In flocks green parrots come to eat
my apples, still unripe and small.
They are a noisy bunch and brawl
while sampling my best apples' treat-
will they leave me any at all?

As feathered acrobats on show,
they swing from branches on one foot-
then turn around and still stay put
while deftly keep found food in toes.
They go on picking at ripe fruit…

My goldfish, in the pond beneath,
are fleeing to the deepest spot-
when falling apples drop like shot
and waters shake, it rattles teeth.
The frogs, still undisturbed, just squat.

As blade's sharp edge cuts in my feet
I feel warm blood leave opened veins.
No longer thin membranes constrain
now shrieking nerve-ends swift retreat;
a rose unfolds within my pain.

To walk this tightrope, I abstain
from thoughts that draw me in defeat.
Soft petals throb with each heartbeat,
while rose's fragrant breath sustains;
her thornless stem I hold and greet.

This rose will lead me to your seat
when wounds have stopped to bleed and chain.
With you in mind I will attain
your sphere, where souls come home and meet-
here we will be joined, complete.

Spring is Coming

Last Monday's rain has melted the snow, cleared streets and garden from frost's show. Today the sky is blue again, because warm sun has chased the rain and plants awaken in her glow. My turtle doves think it is spring, the male's pretending he can sing; he coos and bows to catch her glance till she gives in to courtship's trance – a few short moments he feels king. Nature's caught her breath once more, uncoiling leaves show what's in store. Bare branches buds are growing fast - a promise of sweet spring at last. Snowdrops will carpet my garden's floor.

As elderberries ripened fast,
I knew that summer couldn't last.
Today I picked hands full from trees,
the top ones swaying in the breeze;
at least two kilos I amassed.

Four jars of jam I made tonight,
they're proudly standing in full sight,
still cooling down right on the sink-
can't wait to taste, I'm tickled pink-
my home-made jams are pure delight!

To raise the dragons

Two eggs were found to save the world-
inside, still sleeping dragons curled.
Only when three would hatch and wake,
clouds of darkness could lift and break.
The search went on, while black veils whirled.

The knight who'd made the special kegs,
had felt a change in both the eggs.
At first they'd been cold to his hand,
when he'd raised them from the sand.
On touching now, they stirred his legs.

He knew the eggs could be his guide
and put all sense of doubt aside;
lead by the tingling of his skin,
he reached a copse and found therein
the missing egg- his eyes went wide.

Three eggs now made their quest complete
and they returned with haste to meet
their king and wizards, waiting still
to ward off evil and fulfill
the ancient lore- Darkness' retreat.

At first you touched me with your mind,
a mental hug, our thoughts entwined.
Slowly I dropped my defenses,
reaching out with all my senses-
gradually, our minds aligned.

When first you touched me with your heart,
I saw new roads, a different chart;
enfolded in your love, I grew,
my world took on a brighter hue-
we shared our dreams for a new start.

When then you touched me with your lips
and put your hands upon my hips,
my body answered with a thrill
that never ended, is there still;
our bodies never will eclipse.

In touching me, you've touched my soul,
our lives are threading as we stroll
along the beaches of our lands,
in rhythm with our feet hold hands;
there's joy in trusting your control.

Where is the sun?

As sparrows hide in pear-tree's crown,
I watch the dripping clouds and frown.
Another weekend without sun,
our summer seems too soon undone-
tall chestnut trees wear autumn's gown.

Day after day the rain pours down,
leaves now changing from green to brown;
apple tree's clothes are on the run,
Wind blows them off, he's having fun-
he's spread them in the garden 'round.

Mid-morning, still the light is low,
there aren't even clouds on show.
Gray flocks of sheep have filled the sky,
Has summer really said goodbye?
I watch a solitary crow.

Within the limits of my mind
I'll search for you, until I'll find
that secret door that opens wide
and lets me enter with my guide.
Here our worlds are intertwined.

Within the chalice of my heart,
I'll hold you dear, though we're apart.
That secret door will let me through,
inside, my soul finds views of you-
an inner knowledge you impart.

Within my infinite, true soul,
life's pieces fit and are made whole.
Your love illuminates my world,
reflecting light of stars, unfurled.
Your touch I'll treasure and extol.
