2012 Poetry Theme Challenges#22 - 50 Shades of Grey![]() |
|
Sorry to disappoint you all but I am not about to launch into a heated erotic paragraph to get your more sensual pens flowing
- however if you wish to go that way who aam I to say no? I am thinking more along the lines of colour and indeed sensuality in
that we use colour to describe what our senses feel - for example red is often a reference to warmth, black is dark and menacing,
blue is cold and chilly and so on. So the challenge here is to use colour to express the five senses. Happy Quilling! Jemmy XXXX |

Maryse AchongColour me contented in shades of gold With streaks of midnight blue when I am sad Splash red everywhere when I cannot hold My anger, grey when doubts make me feel bad. When hope abounds 'tis green in which I'm clad.. A chart with every colour that is me I never know what shade I'm going to be. back to list |
Terry ClitheroeI am intoxicated by the love in your eyes There is no colour unless we use a star, But even by comparison any star is dull Compared to what I can see in your eyes. Your look, your smile lights up my day Gold is dull by comparison to your smile Then you light up every moment for me. Even the darkest night is lighted by your aura There is no darkness when you're around There's no coldness, my heart will warm us both Your touch has ignited an eternal flame Together the world orbits the sun much faster Our love has shorter days than when apart. And the days together seem to flash by. ![]() ----- Lady in Red 1 Watching her brush each flaming lock There she sat framed in the firelight Red hair highlighted a flaming sight And Fate watching us did not mock. Regretting deeds, this act did plan Instead this night a gift would give Whilst darkness ruled, love would live And once again she would have her man. Then with this oath Fate forever swore For just one night, spirit would be flesh Love would live and souls would mesh. One night of darkness nothing more. Watching her brush each flaming lock And Fate watching us did not mock. 2. As she rose and turned to wait my call In spite of time I had to stop and look That precious second was all it took I realised why she was my all. Tears of joy running down her face She came to me with outstretched arms I surrendered easily to her charms That she offered me with loving grace. Both accepting what was Fates gift Mad in love, I kissed away her tears An eternity of love with no fears A memory that would not pass so swift. As she rose and turned to wait my call I realised why she was my all. 3 Kissing turning to red hot passion As her red chemise fell to the floor Her cries of joy, her wanting more Our senses reeled in celebration But even Fate must bow to time And so everything must end Human feelings can't transcend That damned cockerel, dawns chime. Not even dawn may we see fill We may never enjoy it together But our Ghosts will love forever And for us this love fits the bill. No longer sat framed in the firelight Red hair highlighted a flaming sight. ![]() ----- Rose Coloured Glasses Even more I love Australia With shimmering haze of afternoon heat Then the rains and floods thereafter And yet still the scenery cannot be beat. The shift of colours where e're you look, The north, the south, the east, the west. The hot desert or the mountain ranges Australia will take you to her breast. The misty haze of the Blue mountains Hide the lush green forests down below. When e're I think about it, I am haunted Such strong feelings, of wanting to go. Floods and lakes larger than countries Appear in the middle from year to year All showing the colours of plant life The suddenly it will all disappear. Clear blue oceans and seas surrounding Give birth to coral and other plant life But now through man and pollution Are threatened with some terrible strife. Australia is the hardiest and toughest isle She will be victorious in the end And with the help of most Australians Will all those stupid problems mend. ![]() back to list |
Divena CollinsThis night seems very strange all is still There is no sound to silence but peace No pent up thoughts within to release What was once life is now void and nil There is a greyness within dark clouds Strange voices whisper thro` the trees Within the silence of a drifting breeze As darkness upon the night enshrouds Gone is the hoot of the old tawny owl No wild life left to call the right sound No evidence at all or proof to be found Not a thing here left of beasts or fowl This night seems very strange and still What was once life is now void and nil. ![]() ----- Classic Willpower Frustration of a poet that cannot find Within emptiness on an unwritten page So deep inside he shall destroy with rage Dark shades of grey from a troubled mind Shalt follow his thoughts of another kind He writes with passion of a futuristic age Of imprisoned sentences locked in a cage That had rendered him before to be blind. Finally he escapes for his muse to survive And pens a vivid picture from deep within It is then his imagination begins to thrive He knew in his mind he should finally win When his play with words ventures alive Determination of will may dwell therein. ![]() ----- Moon Shadows Deep within an imaginative status of mind Betwixt shades of grey within a moons light Shadows silently haunt the darkened night Moonlight within a hazy mist of a scary kind When sanity of composure is hard to find For a dark silhouette shall never be bright Tricks of shade become hindered of sight As the outcome of fear begins to unwind Consciousness of being completely alone With silence of breath devoid of all sound Fear of a nightmare shalt forever be shown When shades of darkness plagues the ground Within wrestless sleep of nightmares prone When fear of darkness shall ever be found. ![]() ----- Natalia Pushkin Shalt not the kiss of affection be blessed From a poet that had loved but then lost His loving gesture fails and turns to frost How much she would love to be carress'd That he speaketh of in her wildest dreams His pledge of love to be so softly spoken To be his bride within a true lovers token May not befall all his affection redeems But his fame was short for a famous bard Some say that his life had ended so cruel In the name of love he was killed in a duel For fate had dealt him his one final card Shalt not the kiss of affection be blessed How much she would love to be carress'd ![]() Natalie Pushkina - By Vladimir Hau. back to list |
Jem FarmerThe devil's dark hue Mourning tears a clue When grief marks its due Dark shades of black. Remises saw birth The joy of living's mirth And powers of earth As tears drop back. Card hand's a lame duck Gambler’s come unstuck Black cat bringing luck A breaking grin. Darker ways incite The passions of night Within love's delight And slow hands win. ![]() back to list |
Peter WillowdownI drained the cup of glass and I drained the cup of jade, I drained the cup of porphyry wherein mens dreams are made. I drained the cup of crystal and I drained the cup of gold wherein the fates of men were mixed before the world was old. I drained the cup of wisdom and I drained the cup of sorrow - the silver cup of yesterdays, the gold cup of tomorrows. I drained the cup of onyx and I drained the cup of ivory; I drained the cup of chalcedony, full of bitter irony. I drained the cup of fire and I drained the cup of frost, I drained the cup of new-born stars and the cup of old black holes wherein all light is lost. I drained the cup of water and I drained the cup of wine; I drained the cup of mysteries but saw no vulgar sign. I drained the cup of common stone and I drained the cup of wood, I drained the cup of All the World and deeds both dark and good. I drained the sparkling cup of glass and I drained the cup of jade, I drained the cup of porphyry wherein mens dreams are made. I drained the cup of diamond and I drained the cup of ash; I drained the cup of Every Thing and then I smashed the glass. back to list |
