2012 Poetry Theme Challenges#17 Relax![]() |
|
I don't know about you, my fellow poets, but doing the sonnet month was fun but a tough challenge
so I am thinking as we approach a new season we all need a little relaxation. How do you take a few
moments for yourself? Is it listening to some music, a walk in the countryside, retail therapy or
going fishing? Whatever it is some chill-out poems would be most welcome, I think. Happy Quilling! Jemmy XXXX |

Kathy AndersonWhen breezes touch the edges Green hedges fill with birdsong As along the bar sailing Their voices in rapt wailing long To find the open door of dawn, On lawn pick forage and might With lightest wings carry on Feathered winds gone home tonight To valley sun made its bed Awed to moon again dreams ifting beams on zephyrs led Nightingales fled days heat schemes. ![]() back to list |
Terry ClitheroeWill you walk with me tonight along the beach? Warm autumn walks are well out of reach Wear something warm, it is growing chilly. Autumn is fast approaching winter really. And though more north and setting early It shouldn't raise any feelings that are surly The suns setting is worthy of a look or two. And still provide a more than Heavenly view. The moon extends her fingers into the waves Giving her everything that she really craves Intimately uniting the Heavens with the sea Touching her nightly where the sun should be. The sea doesn't regret the suns desire to leave Nor in the morning does she the moon bereave. ----- The Nomad - Triolet No longer do I need to wander Finally I have found a home O'er desert waste or icy tundra No longer do I need to wander I have found a pleasant pasture Now there is no need to roam No longer do I need to wander Finally I have found a home I've found at last an inner peace No longer do I need to wander My inner turbulence can cease I've found at last an inner peace I feel my spiritual-self increase I can throw my doubts asunder I've found at last an inner peace No longer do I need to wander. ![]() ----- Relax - Shairi Confusing thoughts encase my mind, like dark shadows on a brick wall Nothing is straight or round on there, the short appears to be so tall. My tragically tapered thoughts the same, shaped vowels become a drawl Its telling me it's about time, I pour a port, and quaff it all. Wrapped in my blanket of love. ----- Sleep Well - Triolet Sleep well my love this night Wrapped in my blanket of love My arms holding you so tight Sleep well my love this night Kisses on thy brow so light Feathered softly from above Sleep well my love this night Wrapped in my blanket of love. ----- XXXX Gold - Triolet I have just had a gorgeous beer The first sip looked like I was pain It was the first one I've had this year I've just finished a gorgeous beer All the time I drank I looked queer Then I called the waiter over again And I had another gorgeous beer This time, there was joy not pain. ![]() back to list |
Divena CollinsImages of love she smiles in a field of gold, Summer past, Autumn winds begin to play, Dreams of ecstasy, wrinkled leaves unfold Pleasures of the heart are hers this day, A new dawn is her lover, senses awaken, She lay down in an amber and russet bed, Where divine fruits of autumn are shaken Chestnuts, now strewn, where they tread. Sweet innocence of youth in all her glory Feeling the folds of nature take its part Deeply she who yearns this seasonal story, Treasuring precious moments in her heart, Gathering all the beauty and inspiration Holding it forever there in a painted mind Yielding now, within her own temptation, Composed in autumn's fantasy, resigned. ![]() back to list |
Leny RooversLooking into bright, sizzling flames, finally my thoughts unwind; today's work is done, nothing claims attention now, just playing flames. You're close beside me and our aims are towards each other, hands entwined. Feeling the heat of darting flames, strain disappears as thoughts unwind. ![]() ----- Balanced - Sonetto Rispetto With senses drawn inside, she knows her core. Though being in this world, she’s free inside, at peace within herself, not wishing more- she's learned to stay afloat and ride each tide. She's found her inner lake, its restful shore restores lost energy, too long denied. Her body is a vessel filled with light, her soul a channel, open for delight. With knees drawn up, she’s balanced and at ease, her brow rests on crossed arms, protecting face from eyes unwanted now, her ears attuned are following her inner song’s soft breeze. Thought-knots unravel then without a trace as clouds disperse below a glowing moon. ![]() ----- If Only - Awdl Gwydd If only I could grow wings, I'd fly and sing with the birds, rise above all worldly pains like chains of hurt fell in words. As planes above clouds' white layers, my prayers rise up to Sun's face; in her blissful grace I'm healed by yielding in her embrace. Drifting on cloud-filled down, deep frowns are eased from my brow as zephyr's soft fingertips remove old grips anguish plowed. ![]() ----- Peace regained - Triolet Sonnet) My moors wore purple veils last week, sheer gossamer, just tinged with brown; I met a shepherd near the creek, her sheep were grazing there, last week. Few herds now roam these lands, unique in walking distance of the town I visited, last Sunday week. While sheep-dogs watchfully lay down, the herd was slowly moving, meek, on lilac heathlands this past week. I've come to the heather to seek silence amidst autumn’s mauve crown. Though work wore me down, this past week, I regained peace on moors renowned. ![]() ----- Serenity - Triolets I'm yearning for serenity my mind is filled to overload as work has such complexity, it's hard to reach serenity. Some days offer amenities, Then life flows in a slower mode and I can touch serenity; I meditate to know life's node. It is a blessing just to sit, to let thoughts drift by letting go; at times all pieces seem to fit, I am the witness, I just sit and trust my mantra to transmit restoration of life's flow. It is a blessing just to sit, embrace the silence thus bestowed. The world looks cleaner when I'm done, with deeper colours than before as chaos in my mind has gone. There is still work left to be done, a given challenge I won't shun. We don't know what life has in store, yet in the end, when all is done, there'll be serenity galore. ![]() ----- Signs in the air - Awdl Gwydd Across a clear blue heaven wind puffs leaven in white clouds, whipped cream on the horizon - blowed up mizen overcrowds. Planes white tracks draw foamy lines, writing X signs in the air; used by lovers as a kiss, bringing bliss that I can share. Moments of sudden rapture that capture creation's wealth, divine artistry unfolds - heaven's gold amends soul's health. ![]() back to list |
