2012 Poetry Form Challenge

#18 Triolet

This is a fun little form having a rhyme pattern of A B a A a b A B that can either work with the A and B lines being completely repeated or just the final word or phrase repeated.
The a and b are of course just standard rhyme.
There is no set syllable count, although the preferred one for repeating forms is the standard of eight syllables but there are many good examples around using iambic pentameter and similar meters.

His Artful Kiss

One soft kiss pressed upon the heart-
cherished taste of coming rapture.
End beyond measure, this to start,
one soft kiss pressed upon the heart.
Old Masters pale before its art.
Oh to steal, to snatch and capture
one soft kiss pressed upon the heart..
cherished taste of coming rapture.

Allura D

In the example above, Allura repeats the full line, much less common in the one below Susan only repeats the last word.

Tremble

Your very closeness, can you feel me shiver
Your eyes within setting my heart to tremble
My soul reaching out for you aquiver
Without touching, feeling fire, I shiver
My senses soar, running wild like a river
Your touch sears, my thoughts disassemble
Your kiss stirs me, a spiritual shiver
This love causing my foundations to tremble.

A Ducky Tale

A swan, a drake meet on the lake
A sidelong glance starts a romance
A flirty shake makes his heart quake.
A swan, a drake out on the lake,
A wedding cake and gown to make,
With luck perchance, a water dance.
A swan and drake met on the lake
A sidelong glance sparked a romance.

How Ducky (Gloria's Response)

A triolet we won't forget ~
An inner rhyme! Oh, how sublime!
Maryse, you've set us in your debt ~
A triolet we won't forget ~
No need to fret, or break a sweat
A reason, prime, to have a lime
A triolet we won't forget ~
An inner rhyme! Oh, how sublime!

-----

Antisocial

A stately beauty gliding on the lake,
Aloof, she has no time for anyone ,
Ignoring all the overtures they make.
A stately beauty gliding on the lake,
She watches them as one by one they take
Their leave; she chose this place to be alone.
A stately beauty gliding on the lake,
Aloof, she has no time for anyone.

-----

Antisocial II

No one had glimpsed the sadness deep inside,
Or knew the reason why she stayed alone,
No one had ever seen the tears she cried.
No one had glimpsed the sadness deep inside
It'd been that way since her beloved died.
One minute he was there, the next one gone;
No one had glimpsed the sadness deep inside
Or knew the reason why she stayed alone.

-----

Bling Bliss

Most females like a little 'bling',
A girl's best friend, some experts say,
Jewels can make any girl sing;
Most females like a little 'bling',
A necklace, bracelets or a ring
Can help to chase the blues away;
Most females like a little 'bling',
A girl's best friend some experts say.

-----

Dance The Calypso

Listen to the rhythm of the song,
Maybe tap your fingers to the beat;
If it helps, feel free to sing along.
Listen to the rhythm of the song,
Move with it, there is no right or wrong,
Time to introduce it to your feet.
Listen to the rhythm of the song
Maybe tap your fingers to the beat.

Laura Megan

Our Laura Megan will turn twenty soon,
She came the week after my father died;
Her timing was a gift from God, a boon.
Our Laura Megan will turn twenty soon.
And many were the nights that I would croon
Sweet lullabies to her when 'er she cried.
Our Laura Megan will turn twenty soon
She came the week after my father died.

Love Song
She's just outside my window sill,
Hidden in the hibiscus tree,
And I can only hear her trill;
She's just outside my window sill
And her sweet chirping seems to fill
My heart with some unexplained glee:
She's just outside my window sill
Hidden in the hibiscus tree.

I think she's calling to her mate,
She's singing such a pretty song,
Reminding him not to be late:
I think she's calling to her mate
To tell him that she'll sit and wait
'Til he returns, not to be long;
I think she's calling to her mate
She’s singing such a pretty song.

-----

Lucky Draw - Sonnet

Sometimes love comes as a surprise
And we can be caught unawares
Oftimes she's wearing a disguise;
Sometimes love comes as a surprise,
Beguiles the foolish and the wise,
The simple folk and those with airs.
Sometimes love comes as a surprise
And we can be caught unawares,
'Til we get those stars in our eyes.
Sometimes love comes as a surprise,
A jackpot, like winning first prize,
Yet still we're filled with doubts and fears.
Sometimes love comes as a surprise
And we can be caught unawares

-----

No Mathematics !

No expert me, on poetry,
I simply write what's in my heart,
What causes pleasure or worry;
No expert me, on poetry,
For what I feel is what you see;
Its been that way right from the start.
No expert me, on poetry
I simply write what's in my heart.

A Triolet

A triolet is what you ask of me
And I must try to pen a worthy one
For it's a pretty form that much I see;
A triolet is what you ask of me
But I can't offer any guarantee
That this my first attempt will be well done
A triolet is what you ask of me
And I must try to pen a worthy one.

or

A triolet you ask of me
And I must pen a worthy one
For it's a pretty form I see;
A triolet you ask of me
Although I cannot guarantee
My first attempt will be well done:
A triolet you ask of me
And I must pen a worthy one.

Dawn in Dusk

The music that is lacking here
Is dawn in dusk where colors play,
A web in which each chord does cheer.
The music that is lacking here
Is heard in hues that love holds dear,
Wishing for that blue moons song sway.
The music that is lacking here
Is dawn in dusk where colors play.

Flower Children

Depending on the day star queen
Of the sky and all she surveys
Her ways swing with tides of unseen
Depending on the day star queen
Blue heaven mesmerizing sheen
Azure deep mysterious ways
Depending on the day star queen
Of the sky and all she surveys.

Flower children put faces high
To enjoy lifes energy beams
Sun goddess sends loving rays by
Flower children put faces high
To reach the touch as breeze songs sigh
The sighs of lullaby and dreams
Flower children put faces high
To enjoy lifes energy beams.

Savory in Glowing Night

I.

When savory blooms under moon
Of fullest bright and harmony,
It's peppered scent delights us soon
When savory blooms under moon.
An unguent of muses that croon,
Kitchen poetess welds crafty,
When savory blooms under moon
Of fullest bright and harmony.

II.

Evening spreads your yellow glow
Round grey cotton clouds dressed robe
Wrapping comfort that you don't owe,
Evening spreads you yellow glow.
Tunes you hum peaceful and so slow
Haunt the lonliest souls earlobes.
Evening spreads your yellow glow
Round grey cotton clouds dressed robe.

-----

Tea Leaves II

The serendipity of leaves
White when they are so very young,
Green before they become sheaves.
The serendipity of leaves
That ask our questions to relieve
With sips of the sweetest oolongs.
The serendipity of leaves
White when they are so very young.

-----

Tea Leaves III

Seratim of the evenings cafe,
First consult black liquid brew
To see what leaf has fallen, pray,
Seratim of the evening cafe,
Next, a cup psychic array
Of futures that we must now view.
Seratim of the evenings cafe,
First consult black liquid brew.

Times Cup

Waiting for the red rose of love
To fill this cup in his sweet time
Stars send their wishes from above
Waiting for the red rose of love
Full moon planting seeds from white dove
Carried from far shores as a sign
Waiting for the red rose of love
To fill this cup in his sweet time.

Moondrops

Tonight the moon spills gentle tears
As soft as love, kissed by the breeze
On whispered breath for angel ears
Tonight the moon spills gentle tears
No earthly sound can interfere
As dewdrops nestle in the trees
Tonight the moon spills gentle tears
As soft as love, kissed by the breeze

Silence tiptoed

Silence tiptoed through the darkness
Breathing fragrance, heaven-scent
Brushing past the leaves of sadness
Silence tiptoed through the darkness
Draped in graceful velvet dress
Flushed with Blood Moon's sacrament
Silence tiptoed through the darkness
Breathing fragrance, heaven-scent.

Spiral Memories

She bends her head in sweet repose
As spiral memories unwind
A fragrance wafts of crimson rose
She bends her head in sweet repose
Serenity soon overflows
Bestowing peaceful thoughts in kind
She bends her head in sweet repose
As spiral memories unwind

Her head is tucked beneath her wing
She slowly drifts in slumber's keep
In downy dreams as feathers cling
Her head is tucked beneath her wing
A moonlit path is following
To share this blissfulness of sleep
Her head is tucked beneath her wing
She slowly drifts in slumber's keep

Resurfacing through pools of light
Reflections glimmer in her eyes
Remembering a starlit night
Resurfacing through pools of light
Remaining still in love's delight
Revealing hopes of full moonrise
Resurfacing through pools of light
Reflections glimmer in her eyes

Terry Clitheroe

Amor ti vieta.....(Glosa)

Love forbids you not to love.
That gentle hand that repulses me
sought the pressure of my hand;
your eye says: "I love you",
though your lips are saying: "I won't!"
Umberto Giordano Fedora.

Love forbids you not to love.
That gentle hand that repulses me
Also resists the ultimate shove.
Love forbids you not to love,
Yet of late it is all that is thought of,
And deep inside we wish it to be.
Love forbids you not to love.
your gentle hand does not repulse me.

That gentle hand that repulses me
Sought the pressure of my hand;
A touch that that gives a silent plea.
That gentle hand that repulses me
Demands that I say; "Please be",
But more so that I understand
That gentle hand that repulses me
sought the pressure of my hand;

You sought the pressure of my hand;
Your eyes say: "I love you",
Relationships never go as planned.
You sought the pressure of my hand;
And say solitude is where you stand
Body language gives a different view.
You sought the pressure of my hand;
Your eyes say: "I love you".

Beyond This Shore

Beyond this shore
And the farther shore
Beyond the beyonds
Where there is no beginning and no end
Go without fear
Buddhist Quotation

Ancient home fires beckon bright
Eternity awaits the weary soul
Rest, peace to comfort in that light.
Ancient home fires beckon bright
Death is the truth we must not fight
Is this to be our final goal
Ancient home fires beckon bright
Eternity awaits the weary soul

Eternity awaits the weary soul
Or do we merely wish it so
Ultimate reality the final role?
Peace and rest for the weary soul
Shadow of death becoming whole.
The truth lies within that shadow
Eternity awaits the weary soul
Or do we merely wish it so?

Why do we always wish it so
To see home fires beckon bright
And spend our time in the shadow?
Why do we always wish it so
In the darkness we cannot grow?
Reach out for truth, seek the light
Wish it, believe it, make it so
And see home fires beckon bright.

Corner of the Sky

You think the sky is a happy place,
Filled by the light of the morning sun.
Clouds that dance, and skip and race,
Make you think it is a happy place.
Fluffy and bright, up there in space,
You watch a morn that's just begun.
You think the sky is a happy place,
Filled by the light of the morning sun.

Thrilled by the light of the morning sun,
There are things you'll never know.
You would think that the clouds are one,
Thrilled by the light of the morning sun,
Huddled together in their blanket-home,
But there is one in a corner all alone.
Thrilled by the light of the morning sun,
There are things you'll never know.

There are things you'll never know,
You think the sky is a happy place.
There are places the lookers do not go,
There are things you'll never know.
The places you see only darkness grow,
And misery fills that inner space.
There are things you'll never know,
You think the sky is a happy place.

Corvus Coronoides

Death's pet sits waiting silently
He knows what will happen in time
And is prepared to wait patiently.
Death's pet sits waiting silently
On the gravestone eyes fulgently
Then hears the churches thirteenth chime.
Death's pet sits waiting silently
He knows what will happen in time

The violin begins to play
As from the graves the bodies creep
Slowly beginning All Hallows ballet.
The violin begins to play
The dancers to the rhythm sway
No longer bound to eternal sleep.
The violin begins to play
As from the graves the bodies creep.

The Raven rises on seeing the feast
A plethora on which to feed this night
With no complaints from the deceased.
The Raven rises on seeing the feast
A gourmets chance to say the least
As Odin's bird it is his right.
The Raven rises on seeing the feast
A plethora on which to feed this night.

Death

Only in death is a body perfect
No more corruption of the flesh
No more wrinkles do we detect?
Only in death is a body perfect
No need of a mirror to inspect
With the sod the corpse will mesh
Only in death is a body perfect
No more corruption of the flesh

No more corruption of the flesh
My body now shall live forever
The tomb has become my creche
No more corruption of the flesh
Each night I rise corrupt and fresh
Zombies, mummies shall envy ever
No more corruption of the flesh
My body now shall live forever

My body now shall live forever
Only in death is a body perfect.
Sod and body now blend together
My body now shall live forever
Created from sod in Deitic fervour
Each day, each change, each mood, affect.
My body now shall live forever
Only in death is a body perfect.

Dignity

So much to do so much to share
True loves helps in a time of pain
With each love a life of care
So much to do so much to share
Love as much as you would dare.
Helping each other to sustain
So much to do so much to share
True loves helps in a time of pain

We lie on the bed together
Wrapping you up in my arms
The last few months seem like forever
As we lie on the bed together
No one will separate us ever
No longer can you come to harm
We lie on the bed together
Wrapping you up in my arms

No longer knowing who am I
We who have shared so much as one
Constant loss showing in your eye
No longer knowing who am I
Your body has outlived the Ki
And everything in your mind has gone
No longer knowing who am I
We who have shared so much as one

Stroke my face as you would a pet
Love has vanished with your mind
There is no glimmer no hope yet
Stroke my face as you would a pet
No life in there a mind that's set
The eyes that look at me are blind
Stroke my face as you would a pet
Love has vanished with your mind

Pills we took soon closed your eyes
And you fall asleep against my chest
What happens now will be no surprise
Pills we took soon closed your eyes
My breathing slows, no more sighs
Feel what I've done is for the best
Pills we took soon closed your eyes
And you fall asleep against my chest.

Give all to Love

Give all to love follow your star
All lovers hearken to it's call,
When love calls it's never bizarre.
Give all to love follow your star
Its the greatest thing ever by far
Finding someone who makes you whole.
Give all to love follow your star
All lovers hearken to it's call,

All lovers hearken to it's call,
Give all to love follow your star
Love is the unison of souls.
All lovers hearken to it's call,
And once heard are held in thrall
The greatest emotion by far.
All lovers hearken to it's call,
Give all to love follow your star.

Hands

These hands have not a manicure
Nor were they ever soft like yours.
With these hands you can feel secure
These hands have not a manicure
Your safety my love I will ensure.
Working with them so love endures
These hands have not a manicure
Nor were they ever soft like yours.

How much do I love to touch thee?
To please thee in such a simple way
A simple touch, is this the key?
How much do I love to touch thee?
That thou loves it's plain to see.
A sight that lights the dullest day
How much do I love to touch thee?
To please thee in a simple way

Thy hands are so soft and tender
Yet strong enough to hold my heart.
A simple wave and I surrender
Thy hands are so soft and tender
My complete will it doth engender
So small and pale a work of art
Thy hands are so soft and tender
Yet strong enough to hold my heart.

Here Is

Here is an Autumn coloured Earth
Where shades of red seem to thrive
With new plants no longer given birth.
Here is an Autumn coloured Earth
And from now life will be a dearth
With sleep the motto rather than strive.
Here is an Autumn coloured Earth
Where shades of red seem to thrive.

-----

Hypnos

Again before sleep over comes me
I will enter into the land of Erebos
And my last thoughts will be of thee.
Again before sleep over comes me
I will dream of what I want us to be
And ignore the river of forgetfulness.
Again before sleep over comes me
I will enter into the land of Erebos.

-----

Moonless Night

There is no moon, she has work elsewhere,
The darkness of night holds naught to fear.
For night belongs to love and those who share,
There is no moon, she has work elsewhere.
For simple things show how much we care,
We need not wait for her to appear.
There is no moon, she has work elsewhere,
The darkness of night holds naught to fear.

The darkness of night holds naught to fear
For night belongs to love and those who share
The most exiting of nights brings a happy tear.
The darkness of night holds naught to fear
For in that darkness feelings become clear
Bringing a light that only lovers are aware.
The darkness of night holds naught to fear
For night belongs to love and those who share.

Sleep and His Half Brother Death
John William Waterhouse

-----

Morning Mist

How gently comes the morn,
As the mist hides the eastern hills,
Still knowing the new day is born.
How gently comes the morn,
No golden rays the peaks adorn
The mists into the valley spills.
How gently comes the morn,
As the mist hides the eastern hills,

Within the mist, morn springs forth,
Life commences at first lights call,
Soft spoke winds are headed north.
Within the mist morn springs forth,
Birds awake singing for all their worth,
Night creatures bid their farewell.
Within the mist morn springs forth,
Life commences at first lights call.

-----

Noises in the Dark

Hear those noises in the dark
The stealthy pattering of the beast
And on your flesh it has set it's mark.
Hear those noises in the dark
Dripping fangs, your fear is stark
Knowing soon you'll be the feast.
Hear those noises in the dark
Stealthy pattering of the beast.

-----

Nomad

No longer do I need to wander
Finally I have found a home
O'er desert waste or icy tundra
No longer do I need to wander
I have found a pleasant pasture
Now there is no need to roam
No longer do I need to wander
Finally I have found a home

I've found at last an inner peace
No longer do I need to wander
My inner turbulence can cease
I've found at last an inner peace
I feel my spiritual-self increase
I can throw my doubts asunder
I've found at last an inner peace
No longer do I need to wander

-----

Reincarnation

I'm falling in love all over again
To a woman I've known thousands of years
I've never stopped loving her, each time's a gain
I'm falling in love all over again
Yet it's only the feeling that I retain
No memory of happiness or of tears
I'm falling in love all over again
To a woman I've known thousands of years.

When we talk we speak each others thought
Each touch whilst new, is familiar, a memory
Something in the past is pleasantly caught.
When we talk we speak each others thought
It was not searched for, innocently brought
And with it a feeling again of revelry
When we talk we speak each others thought
Each touch whilst new, is familiar, a memory.

-----

Sleep Well

Sleep well my love this night
Wrapped in my blanket of love
My arms holding you so tight
Sleep well my love this night
Kisses on thy brow so light
Feathered softly from above
Sleep well my love this night
Wrapped in my blanket of love.

-----

Twilight Glimmers

Twilight glimmers with unclaimed dreams
In the dimming light see two lovers at play
Their dance of love alight with moonbeams.
Twilight glimmers with unclaimed dreams
A night of love and more promised scenes
Finally resting as they see the coming day
Twilight glimmers with unclaimed dreams
In the dimming light see two lovers at play.

What is Love

What is love if you never laugh?
What good is it if you never share?
Like a sore it will always chaff
What is love if you never laugh?
What should be whole is only half
True love is when there's care
What is love if you never laugh?
What good is it if you never share?

True love is when there is care
That is shown by looks and touch.
A twinkle in the eyes, a brush of hair
True love is when there is care.
A silence that is trust, naught to scare
In that silence you say so much.
True love is when there is care
That is shown by looks and touch.

Will My Soul

Will my soul touch yours once again
In the next life as it has in this.
Will feelings born, in strength gain
Will my soul touch yours once again
Will once again our love begin
This time bringing us naught but bliss
Will my soul touch yours once again
In the next life as it has in this.

XXXX Gold

I have just had a gorgeous beer
The first sip looked like I was pain
It was the first one I've had this year
I've just finished a gorgeous beer
All the time I drank I looked queer
Then I called the waiter over again
And I had another gorgeous beer
This time, there was joy not pain.

Ancient Prophesy

Age shall not protect thee from love
But love doth protect thee from age
Written within the stars from above
Age shall not protect thee from love
Nor surrender thy yearning thereof
Come heed the prophesy of a sage
Age shall not protect thee from love
But love doth protect thee from age.

An Unlikely Tale

She appeared from the oceans briny water
From whence she came nobody had known
Some say she was king Canutes daughter
Who appeared from the oceans briny water
Was it she that led his subjects to slaughter
There was no evidence at all to be shown
She appeared from the oceans briny water
From whence she came nobody had known.

Time erased history that was meant to be
Canute bade the oceans waves to recede
But folk had only slight recollection of he
Time erased history that was meant to be
No more did they have in memory of she
Only in pages of history books might read
Time erased history that was meant to be
Canute bade the oceans waves to recede.

Circle of Life

How graceful the willow`s dance in a breeze
That gently sways within a natural rhythm
Betwixt green willowy whispers of leaves
How graceful the willow`s dance in a breeze
With woven spells that transpires to a tease
To dance endlessly until finality is with them
How graceful the willow`s dance in a breeze
That gently sways within a natural rhythm.

Strong the girth that carries boughs forth
Shading beneath from a bright summer sun
A natural tranquillity that pledges her worth
Strong the girth that carries boughs forth
Let no man destroy this treasure of earth
For the dance of the willows has long begun
Strong the girth that carries boughs forth
Shading beneath from a bright summer sun.

Confronted

Can father be mother when mothers gone
When an aching heart is wrenched with pain
The strength of will for a child to lean upon
Can father be mother when mothers gone
Whether it be a daughter or son forlorn
Could this broken family start all over again
Can father be mother when mothers gone
When an aching heart is wrenched with pain.

Her photograph could never bring her back
Nor warmth of love within her presence
To forever long for affection they lack
Her photograph could never bring her back
Can a father's love put them back on track
For the love he has left that he presents.
Her photograph could never bring her back
Nor warmth of love within her presence.

Crazy Innit

Pathways are littered with trash
From kids on the way to schools
To scold them would be too rash
Pathways are littered with trash
Sweet papers and cigarette ash
They think that it is kind of cool
Pathways are littered with trash
From kids on the way to school.

They have no intentions to binnit
No matter what parents may think
It is such a great hindrance innit
They have no intentions to binnit
It is not within thoughts to submit
They cannot see earth`s on the brink
They have no intentions to binnit
No matter what parents may think.

Dance of the Willows

The circle of life turns a round wheel
When love finds a way to come back
Death does not ever break the seal
The circle of life turns a round wheel
When strong is the love lover`s feel
What they long for they shall not lack
The circle of life turns a round wheel
When love finds a way to come back.

Dawns Awakening

Sweet Child of the morning sun rise
Who awaken`s the breaking of dawn
Borne from mystic universal skies
Sweet Child of the morning sun rise
As starlight fades within her eyes
Shades of dusk remains withdrawn
Sweet Child of the morning sun rise
Who awaken`s the breaking of dawn.

She exhales the mists of morning dew
That nurtures the earthen floor around
Refreshing the shade of natures hues
She exhales the mists of morning dew
That nurtures the woodland herbs anew
No finer vision within the mists bound
Who exhales the mists of morning dew
That nurtures the earthen floor around.

-----

Mists of Time

Within the mists of time she arose
Once more from the foot of a lake
Memories of a lost knight of prose
Within the mist of time she arose
It was a lifetime of love she chose
She perished once again to awake
Within the mists of time she arose
Once more from the foot of a lake.

She held his sword within her hand
Within her heart she felt she must
For only her lover shall understand
She held his sword within her hand
The sword was within great demand
Excalibur had the might to thrust
She held his sword within her hand
Within her heart she felt she must.

She arose within the mists of time
As a Queen unto her beloved King
With a love that only lovers rhyme
She arose within the mists of time
Where hidden reeds upward climb
Great sword of steel lore shall sing
She arose within the mists of time
As a Queen unto her beloved King.

Nuts and May

In Autumn she gathers nuts this way
Within a woven basket upon her arm
In Spring she plucks the fragrant May
In Autumn she gathers nuts this way
A basket of natures gifts for this day
The natural jewels of country charm
In autumn she gathers nuts this way
Within a woven basket upon her arm.

Summer she adorns an apron white
As as she seeks her seasonal gift
When the spent moon fades of light
Summer she adorns an apron white
Awakens her morn` to a future bright
Within shaded warmth aroma`s drift
Summer she adorns an apron white
As as she seeks her seasonal gift.

Once she was gathering Nuts and May
Before the cold winter snowdrops fall
When icy fingers bite hard the brae
Once she was gathering Nuts and May
When purple heath had withered away
And the bush was once a snowclad wall
Once she was gathering Nuts and May
Before the cold winter snowdrops fall.

Phantom Feline

She shows her presence only to stare
With ghostly eyes that predicts a death
As black as the night she lingers there
She shows her presence only to stare
Her spirit appears from most anywhere
Frightening victims with ne`er a breath
She shows her presence only to stare
With ghostly eyes that predicts a death.

Black as the night her shadow appears
From the bleakness of an internal grave
'Twas spirits of a feline devoid of years
Black as the night her shadow appears
Haunting with eyes that harbour no fears
Of a ghostly feline spirit of the brave
Black as the night her shadow appears
From the bleakness of an internal grave.

Scenes of Autumn

As autumn winds sweep the forest green
Tinting faded leaves of a summer past
Shades of autumn casting mood`s serene
As autumn wind sweep's the forest green
Woodland faes imprint enchanted scene
Of images that changing seasons cast
As autumn winds sweep the forest green
Tinting faded leaves of a summer past.

-----

Seasons Past

Within every autumnal leaf that falls
Tinted shades shall depict a story
When the ending of a season calls
Within every autumnal leaf that falls
When withered veins speaketh of all
Old faded leaves are spent of glory
Within every autumnal leaf that falls
Tinted shades shall depict a story.

So shall it be then with all things alive
Of youthful vigour once spent of time
What was once young borne to thrive
So shall it be then with all things alive
When youth shall return fate to revive
For a rebirth of nature within it`s prime
So shall it be then with all things alive
Of youthful vigour once spent of time.

Silent Thoughts

So deep in silent thoughts there within
That only the eyes of a lover may show
Love that lingers shall ne-er be of sin
So deep in silent thoughts there within
When feelings of uncertainty shall begin
It is when sad tears shall begin to flow
So deep in silent thoughts there within
That only the eyes of a lover may show.

Love shall not fade nor shall it fall apart
When silence of thoughts remain a few
It is present betwixt both loving hearts
Love shall not fade nor shall it fall apart
For passions of love shall remain an art
That ever lingers within a love so true
Love shall not fade nor shall it fall apart
When silence in thoughts remain a few.

Surrender

Let not loving hearts bestown to share
Decline of sweet passion deep therein
For moments arisen are oft times rare
Let not loving hearts bestown to share
Lay frigid within strong arms that care
Think not true lovers shall suffer a sin
Let not loving hearts bestown to share
Decline of sweet passion deep therein.

Wild Violets

Outside right before the sun sets
A peaceful shadow slowly covers
All the wild purple violets
Outside right before the sun sets
A gentle rain breaks the quiet
Like a hummingbird when it hovers
Outside right before the sun sets
A peaceful shadow slowly covers

With Grace

Tiny orbs of gentle rain fall
Through trees to parched grounds
Quenching plants big or small
Tiny orbs of gentle rain fall
As babies learn to crawl
Infinite circles make their rounds
Tiny orbs of gentle rain fall
With grace without a sound

Yesterdays

Upon a shelf they sit and wait
For something that will remind you
To go back and look just once more
Upon a shelf they sit and wait
Your mind the master of the door
The heart the keeper of the clues
Upon a shelf they sit and wait
For something that will remind you

Imagine

Imagine a moment my love
A ballet where hands do embrace
Beneath pale sky we not speak of
The pure touch that become our love
And as long as heaven above
Ignites the beauty of your grace
Ill wait patient for night my love
A ballet where hands do embrace

Imagine a moment my sweet
Sunset and we are but alone
Where hands may do more than just meet
For lips pressed together taste sweet
And night does cloak to be discrete
There, bodies ask of the unknown
A love rush's day that tempts sweet
Sunset and we are but alone

Imagine a moment my dear
Us where we only lived by night
The world would cease to spin I fear
Endless time to hold you so dear
And the kiss you do so revere
So much more unspoken delight
If only it were true my dear
Us where we only lived by night

Unrequited

A vast crevasse of emptiness wanting
You are a desire that can only be
Fulfilled by the lonely water needing
To suffer a vast crevasse's wanting
To stand still for just a moment being
Contained and held unlike the restless sea
Something the ocean is rarely wanting
You are a desire that can only be

To receive the sincere love that I give
And store it away in a heart shaped box
Away from the light and warmth it does live
What I receive back is not what you give
To chance it returned your ways I forgive
To part with the key to open the lock
Basking in the light of the love you give
And store it away in a heart shaped box

In the end Im not sure of the distance
Ill let you go and away I will fade
Without the breathe of you I wont chance
The journey to your mirage at distance
Always so near yet so far at a glance
And I collapse underneath a palms shade
You vanish with the sun in the distance
I'll let you go and away I will fade.

Summer Eve

Another Triolet

Sitting in bed on Mother's Day
My tousled hair a raven's nest-
A twig-like structure thatched with grey.
Sitting in bed on Mother's Day
I wrote this verse, this triolet
While sipping tea, my mind at rest;
Sitting in bed on Mother's Day
My tousled hair a raven's nest.

Her feline form

Her feline form, within his torpid gaze,
That moves and arches to his gentle touch,
Will sometimes run and hide from him for days.
Her feline form, within his torpid gaze
When silky fur he strokes, she'll purr her praise.
Upon his lap sat nestled in his crotch
Her feline form, within his torpid gaze,
Now push and arch beneath his gentle touch.

Now we are Sixty

We hold each other's hand and talk
Of all the things we mean to do;
When you and I go for a walk
We hold each other's hand and talk.
In time to come, you might well balk,
When you and I are sixty-two.
We'll hold each other's hand and talk
Of all the things we meant to do.

And when we've thought about a thing,
We'll make love in the afternoon
While listening to song birds sing.
And when we've thought about a thing
Like taking naps and worrying
Or which roses we should prune.
And when we've thought about a thing,
We'll make love in the afternoon.

Wish You Were Here!

When sending out postcards, you get no reply
After writing the greeting 'Wish you were here!'
Have you ever wondered, wondered why
When sending out postcards, you get no reply?
What's the point? Would the answer be sly?
'Wish you would stay!', as though you were queer
When sending out postcards, you get no reply
After writing the greeting 'Wish you were here!'

A Poet's Mind

A verse, a rhyme, a rhythmic beat,
Composed a line without a note,
The lyrical that flows a treat.
A verse, a rhyme, a rhythmic beat,
A poet's words, they need no seat,
Untouched by politics or vote,
A verse, a rhyme, a rhythmic beat,
Composed a line without a note.

The ode that tells a story, true,
From long ago in ancient rhyme,
And sonnets speak of love and you.
The ode that tells a story, true,
Of different worlds, another view,
A long lost place or special time.
The ode that tells a story, true,
From long ago in ancient rhyme.

From sparkling lights of city streets,
A siren calls across the night.
Inside the room a heart retreats
From sparkling lights of city streets.
An ancient rhythm oft repeats
As poet's pen begins to write
From sparkling lights of city streets,
A siren calls across the night.

In darkness love has come to claim
The tendersweet within a kiss
A whispered voice called out your name
In darkness love had come to claim.
But can 'I love you' sound the same
If said outside the state of bliss
In darkness love has come to claim
The tendersweet within a kiss.

A poet's mind with words will play
And on the paper scribe a verse,
But on your lips there is one way
A poet's mind with words will play.
As love is all there is to say
Without a thought to then rehearse
A poet's mind with words will play
And on the paper scribe a verse.

Make No More Sound

When hills turned to face the shrouds of night,
And storms flames charred the empty streets,
The old river slowed and spat with spite
When hills turned to face the shrouds of night,
Old friends and new all lost from sight
As into hell the soul retreats.
When hills turned to face the shrouds of night,
And storms flames charred the empty streets.

The joys of life replaced by flame,
No more dear heart be proud to love
When every kiss tastes of shame.
The joys of life replaced by flame,
And silent lips refuse their name
The soul denies the light above.
The joys of life replaced by flame,
No more dear heart be proud to love.

In visions cast down upon the ground,
There weep the tears of self-esteem
The sacred pulse is lost not found.
In visions cast down upon the ground,
Oh love, sweet love, make no more sound,
For nothing now can e'er redeem
In visions cast down upon the ground,
There weep the tears of self-esteem.

Mystique Touch - Cyclic Interlocking Triolet

With falling rain autumn leaves speak
In words that tears of poets cry
And lovers dance, their cheek to cheek.
With falling rain autumn leaves speak
Their vibrant shades before the bleak
Of winter comes upon the sky
With falling rain autumn leaves speak
In words that tears of poets cry.

In words that tears of poets cry
The seasons turn every year
As on the breeze I heard her sigh
In words that tears of poets cry
They cannot bear to say goodbye
The days and weeks pass slow I fear
In words that tears of poets cry
The seasons turn every year

The seasons turn every year
Yet love can make old time stand still
And wipe away the lonely tear
The seasons turn every year
And love's sweet fire still holds us near
As all our dreams her flames fulfil
The seasons turn every year
Yet love can make old time stand still

Yet love can make old time stand still
With falling rain autumn leaves speak
As we embrace against the chill
Yet love can make old time stand still
In joyous seasons of goodwill
A wondrous touch of pure mystique
Yes love can make old time stand still
With falling rain autumn leaves speak.

Red and Gold

On autumn breeze she's floating free,
In shades of gold and crimson red,
She dances with her destiny.
On autumn breeze she's floating free,
The winds that softly whisper me,
Her words of love are in my head,
On autumn breeze she's floating free,
In shades of gold and crimson red.

As now the nights are feeling cold,
I feel her kiss within my mind,
Among the leaves of red and gold.
As now the nights are feeling cold,
I touch her hand to gently hold
The warmth of love is ours to find
As now the nights are feeling cold,
I feel her kiss within my mind.

Shadow

The dragon's shadow falls on me
When're I hear my nation call
I feel my heart in liberty
The dragon's shadow falls on me
On mountains where I long to be
Once more I'll stand so proud and tall.
The dragon's shadow falls on me
When're I hear my nation call

Wings of Love

My heart is bleeding over stone,
Discarded by the wings of love,
The diva left to dance alone
My heart is bleeding over stone,
A bloody mess can't be undone
As dreams drift to the stars above
My heart is bleeding over stone,
Discarded by the wings of love.

Frustrated

Sometimes our choice is limited.
We cannot do as we intend.
Because we are inhibited.
Sometimes our choice is limited
By circumstance prohibited
We lack the power to amend
Sometimes our choice is limited.
We cannot do as we intend.

Leaps And Bounds

Remove those shackles, loose these bonds;
Allow these souls to wander free
Amid soft virgin forest fronds.
Remove those shackles, loose these bonds,
Come skip 'cross mountain vales and ponds
And breath the heightened sovereignty.
Remove my shackles, loose your bonds
Allow our souls to wander free.

Put down that burden, break this chain;
Allow these hearts to wander home;
To run along seashores again
Without that burden or this chain,
To laugh, as free of toil and pain
As children splashing in the foam.
Put down your burden, break my chain;
Allow our hearts to wander home.

Radiant Dawn

On white sand beach at breaking dawn,
heavenly song released to all;
open hearts hear while closed move on
or sleep through each magical dawn.
Once sun appears, angels swift gone,
scattered to aid broken souls' calls;
each tomorrow, a flawless dawn
radiates joy once known by all.

After Work

Looking into bright, sizzling flames,
finally my thoughts unwind;
today's work is done, nothing claims
attention now, just playing flames.
You're close beside me and our aims
are towards each other, hands entwined.
Feeling the heat of darting flames,
strain disappears as thoughts unwind.

A Daily Buffet

At night, when work has come to end
I'm greeted by my friend Marie,
This little turtle dove descends
to eat, her hunger knows no end.
Perching on both my outstretched hands,
she's lost all fear and waits for me.
By softly cooing she commends,
then flies back to the apple-tree.

Peanuts are her favourite food,
she puts them rapidly away;
her crop quite distinctly protrudes
as she fills up with precious food.
I wonder if she still has brood,
they haven't been yet on display.
My little turtle dove is shrewd,
I provide her daily buffet.

Daphne and Apollo

Here she stands, half woman, half tree.
No longer can she run around,
she paid the price, her freedom fee –
she chose to stay chaste as a tree
when from Apollo she did flee.
She could have been a goddess, crowned,
Yet she preferred to be a tree;
on her branches, laurels abound.

Daphne, is this water nymph called,
Apollo her suitor, she spurned.
Through Cupid's dart, he was enthralled,
she ran from him as he had called.
He persevered, she was appalled,
Daphne was desperate as she turned
to her father, his help was called.
Now she stands free and unconcerned.

Falling Out

I cannot do things right today;
how could it happen once again?
My mind is empty from dismay,
we didn't do things right today,
just yesterday we were so gay.
This morning it's the old refrain-
misunderstanding causing pain.
How could this happen once again?

Are we afraid of happiness?
Is that why we fall out at times
when we've shared laughter and caress;
can't we bear this much happiness?
Once more we're shaken and distressed,
my feet feel heavy, but I'll climb
the stairs to join you and express,
let's stop to risk our happiness!

Flying - Triolet Sonnet

You touch me with warm fingertips
and draw me close in your embrace;
I lift my head to kiss your lips,
move close to meet your fingertips.
Your hands are resting on my hips,
I feel your heat pervade thin lace,
bare skin beneath your fingertips
hot pleasure rising in their trace.
All thought are fading, losing grips,
I'm welcoming your fingertips
as senses heighten by these trips
of hands and lips, increasing pace.
Enthralled by your soft fingertips,
I'm flying upwards into space.

Peace Regained - Triolet Sonnet

My moors wore purple veils last week,
sheer gossamer, just tinged with brown;
I met a shepherd near the creek,
her sheep were grazing there, last week.
Few herds now roam these lands, unique
in walking distance of the town
I visited, last Sunday week.
While sheep-dogs watchfully lay down,
the herd was slowly moving, meek,
on lilac heathlands this past week.
I've come to the heather to seek
silence amidst autumn's mauve crown.
Though work wore me down, this past week,
I regained peace on moors renowned.

Serenity

I'm yearning for serenity
my mind is filled to overload
as work has such complexity,
it's hard to reach serenity.
Some days offer amenities,
Then life flows in a slower mode
and I can touch serenity;
I meditate to know life's node.

It is a blessing just to sit,
to let thoughts drift by letting go;
at times all pieces seem to fit,
I am the witness, I just sit
and trust my mantra to transmit
restoration of life's flow.
It is a blessing just to sit,
embrace the silence thus bestowed.

The world looks cleaner when I'm done,
with deeper colours than before
as chaos in my mind has gone.
There is still work left to be done,
a given challenge I won't shun.
We don't know what life has in store,
yet in the end, when all is done,
there'll be serenity galore.

Stormy Weather - Triolet Sonnet

Grey clouds are boiling in dark skies,
in heaven's cauldron burns hot fire;
tall trees stand guard at day's demise
as black waves crest in lead-grey skies.
Green shrubs and trees wear shrouds' disguise,
their lustre dulled as light expires
now storm is raging through dark skies.
Sun's struggling light flares with white fire.
Where sky meets land one tree defies
brute forces ramping darkened skies;
with branches raised as arms held high,
she freed herself from shroud's attire.
Grey clouds collide in troubled skies,
as Sun calls in her bands of fire.

The End of September

Most leaves are turning yellow
now, as nights grow cool and long;
sun's warm touch still brings mellow
days, yet leaves are turning yellow.
I hear music on chello,
Vivaldi's Four Seasons song.
Though leaves are turning yellow,
evenings are mellow and long.

-----

Peace Regained - Triolet Sonnet

My head is over-full with work
I need to empty it real soon,
or risk to end my days berserk,
if I can't stop this flow of work.
I never learned how best to shirk,
that's why each day my desk ends strewn
with new requests that bring more work-
I have to empty it, or swoon.
In two more weeks it's time to perk,
I'll fly away from all this work,
be out of reach for jobs that lurk-
a month New Zealand is my boon.
After five weeks I might miss work,
now, that's really inopportune.
