#16 Faded Love

Hello Poets;

As we are running a month of sonnetry I thought I would stay with traditional theme of the sonnet, that of love. We all enjoy writing and reading romantic poetry or even poems of absolute heartbreak of a lost love. There is however another aspect of love and that is faded love, the love that has served its time maybe or just changed without animosity to a deep fondness. So that is the challenge - faded love!

Lines: We Meet Not As We Parted

I.
We meet not as we parted,
We feel more than all may see;
My bosom is heavy-hearted,
And thine full of doubt for me: --
One moment has bound the free.

II.

That moment is gone for ever,
Like lightning that flashed and died --
Like a snowflake upon the river --
Like a sunbeam upon the tide,
Which the dark shadows hide.

III.

That moment from time was singled
As the first of a life of pain;
The cup of its joy was mingled
-- Delusion too sweet though vain!
Too sweet to be mine again.

IV.

Sweet lips, could my heart have hidden
That its life was crushed by you,
Ye would not have then forbidden
The death which a heart so true
Sought in your briny dew.

V.
. . .
. . .
. . .
Methinks too little cost
For a moment so found, so lost!

A Doe's Dilemma

I shed no more tears love, that time has passed,
Though there are days when I am sorely pressed
By memories that recall both the best
And worst times of my life, a huge contrast...
For a while on cloud nine, and then aghast.
Together life was a near perfect dream,
And we knew happiness in the extreme,
But little did we know the die was cast,
That youíd be gone in the blink of an eye,
And Iíd be left appalled, adrift, alone,
Too shocked for a long time to even cry,
It seemed as if my heart had turned to stone.
Tears and time heal but deep wounds leave a scar,
And cherished thoughts of you are never far.

Whisked Away

Woods are evergreen
At the Spring of love so tender pale
Woods are evergreen
In the Autumn's reddened scenes
Whisked away on decay scented gales
The apple blossoms give sway to veiled
Woods so evergreen

In The Pink

Aint got no call to be singin the blues
Aint got no call to be the singin blues
Am tellin` you I dont need bad news...
Everything in lifes gonna be alright
Ah got me a honey and he`s alright
Coz hes all mine on saturday night...
For he loves me good and thats no lie
And I aint complainin` never gonna lie
Coz I aint got no other fish to fry...
He drives me crazy and thats insane
But he kinda likes it me being insane
Coz he`s comin` back to me again...
Blues are out coz I`m in the pink
He aint gonna find no missing link.

Wistful Dreams

When the last tree is severed from the land
And all wild fruits are gathered from the field
Creations have perished with a fruitless yield
Then and only then shall people understand;
Whilst snatching wild berries from their stalk
Like us they live and breathe with sap within
To destroy this wonder shall surely be a sin
Still they desire these forests in which to walk;
There will come to pass when they will know
They cannot take and still watch them grow
How much more shall nature then withstand
It would take too many long years to restock;
Of mans destruction when can growth begin
To ignore this tragedy shall surely be a sin.

Dreaming

Dreaming
of far places
we travelled together
life filled with the essence of love
before the dark shadow fell between us
indelible beauty now lost
scripture proved so untrue
light extinguished

Closed to Love

The sun set in my heart, closed to love now,
We drifted far apart,
Blackness shrouded funereal cart,
As portrayed in worlds of art.

Ryter Roethicle

Apart

She said "It breaks my heart when you leave"
And he replied;

"Before we met we were not complete
There was no feeling in our hearts
Two travellers wandering on the sea of life
Neither knowing any settled place
Then we met and shared our feelings
When we are apart, we are not alone
We write, we speak, we share and we love
We have found a form of happiness
At times we meet and share our love.
We share our lives living for the moment,
And blissful for a while until we have to part
Always knowing we will meet again
So do not cry or feel there is a loss
Merely regard it as just a time apart
A time to grow and to reflect and plan
Who knows what fate has planned
But rest assured our souls are ever joined
As our lives on earth will ever be so."

-----

Black Hole

She said "What happens why did our love die?
How can love die?
How can two people who love not love?";

"Love is like the coals of a fire
In the beginning if the kindling is damp
Or there is no air the fire will die
Again if we put on too much fuel too soon
The fire splutters and dies for lack of air
And even when the flames are hottest
The fury of the flame often uses too much fuel
If there is no fuel the fire will die and grow cold.

Love is just the same.
We are frightened to lose our love
We hold back and love dies for lack of fuel
Or too bold, we give too much too soon
And passion spent we go our separate ways
Just like now, my love burst hotter than any star
But even a super nova dies
I am left here with a black hole in my heart
Waiting once more for another celestial implosion."

I do not laugh -- Kyrielle Sonnet

I do not laugh nor do I weep
The wounds I have go to deep
But I live on still, or I try
And do the best as days go by.
Words we spoke the songs we sang
The old bell a time or to we rang
The place echoes with our reverie
I remember well as days go by.
And now I see anotherís face
Its another love, not replace
For I love her I need not try
Memories make as days go by
I do not laugh nor do I weep
I do my best as days go by.

I Wanted You

I wanted you
You looked then walked away
I wanted you
There was nothing that I could do
Your look said this isnít your day
What can I do to make you stay
I wanted you.

You donít want me
I finally realised the truth
You donít want me
Thisís no longer the place to be
I do not need to be a sleuth
One more drink, another Vermouth
You donít want me

Ultimatum

One day she said "this is where it ends,
Of course we can always still be friends."
I do not curse her, nor do I weep
The pain inside goes much too deep
And every night it costs me sleep.
Too sudden, it came unexpectedly
It wasnít what I hoped would ever be.
Iím not an innocent victim of cupids bow
Iíve been around and I had told her so
But Iím a romantic and wanted love to grow.
Instead it died and neither knows why
We tried; we talked, trying to understand
Neither of us wanting our love to die
But die it did, no matter what weíd planned.

Love's Bounty

Autumn reverie:
late afternoon mist
rises from the lake
and hovers like a pall
above the earth;
red gold of falling leaf
reflects the evanescent
colours of the sky;
overhead,
the plaintive honking
of the geese
haunts my memory.

Is it a shimmering tear
or a soft rain
that caresses my cheeks,
and cascades like glistening
diamond dewdrops
down my face,
as I turn, expectant,
in the half light,
seeking one last
glimpse of you?

Is it your voice,
whispering to me
on a passing breeze,
or merely a shadow
of memory,
playing on my mind
like a magic lantern show?

Or is it a last whisper
of a dying season,
surrendering the fullness
of its bounty
to the earth,
as I surrender
the twisting threads
of our loveís bounty
to the tapestry
of time?
