Maryse AchongIf I knew how to fix the world I vow I'd do whate'er it took to make things right; I'd work toward the future and the now If I knew how. I would not rest until I saw the light Shining through the darkness so to allow Us to bask in its warmth, Oh blessed sight! And I would do my utmost to endow The universe with peace, no need to fight, Where only before God mankind would bow. If I knew how. ----- Inner Voice It whispers things that you'd rather not hear, At other times a heavy heart near sings Either way the message is always clear. It whispers things. At times it seems it comes to bear greetings Sent to us by people we hold most dear And we rejoice to receive their tidings. This inner voice is not something that's rare It is within us and forever brings Issues into focus... no need to fear. It whispers things. ----- Words to be Remembered 'When you go home Tell them of us and say For your tomorrow We gave our today' Kohima Epitaph These words I read are etched upon my heart The price they paid forgotten, they are dead We've learned to keep our little world apart These words I read. After we hear all that has to be said We may be moved to pray for a new start, Where thoughts of war don't enter any head. I fear we put the horse before the cart, As we behold our world with utter dread Now each of us must do our own small part. These words I read. back to list |
Kathy AndersonThere is a star that is lucky for you As this ocean of faces is by far A ship to tote your charms to, There is a star. For the barge of the heart holds the bar From port or starboard view Run aground on sands from afar. Distant lights beckons to pass through, Sea sirens call is the open door Where once ocean waves were untrue There is a star. ![]() back to list |
Gloria CarpenterA stretching yawn, awakening surprise, a visual sensation gazed upon as golden charms extend when morning spies a stretching yawn. On clouds of caramel, a passage drawn beyond horizon's ocean-kissing skies, where melting dreams dissolve in amberdawn. Those dreams adrift in waves of soft goodbyes are lulled in cradlesong until withdrawn to lapse behind the shade of topaz eyes. A stretching yawn ~ -----

Divena CollinsCall of the wild wolves saddened song That echo through forests so beguiled Spirits of the night that howls erelong Call of the wild. Borne of a pack that nature compiled Of spiritual harmony, instintively strong But man had shunned them as reviled. How canst their amber eyes show wrong When spiritually their pain was ne-er mild For like man they had a right to belong Call of the wild. ![]() ----- Grandfathers Clock Time shall not wait when day`s seem long For the clock ticks on at an alarming rate They say that patience can do no wrong Time shall not wait. Within minutes or hours shall decide of fate When the cuckoo clock sings his final song It is then that the seconds shall be too late. Rhythm of a time piece shall death dictate When grandfathers strike a final ding dong No time left in their mechanism to state Time shall not wait. ![]() ----- Here Shalt I Rest Here shalt I rest within tiresome fatigue And dream not of my thoughts unspoken Did not those blessed moments intrigue Here shalt I rest. Memories now are forgotten and broken Dreams were tossed out of my league For confidence past hath forsaken. Time passes my voice remains vague My response shall remain unwoken To faintly recall as a past colleague Here shalt I rest. ![]() ----- Miracle Worker There are no tears in saddened eyes Nor happiness when there are fears How feint the heart that never cries There are no tears. Nor can she hear thro` deafened ears No silent voice canst speak of lies Yet she has feelings that re-appears. Tho` deaf and muteness equals unwise She shall never speak of what she hears This frustration she suffers misapplies There are no tears. ![]() ----- Of Dreams Was this the end of dreams come true Of lovers fantasy`s whose hearts depend That had argued a previous point of view Was this the end. Was it love they craved or just a friend Or desirous attractions, out of the blue Not meant for ever, but if only to lend . Was it love or lust in which feelings grew That fell from the sky in a downward trend Does this mean if they dreamed anew. Was this the end. ![]() ----- Only For You If only for you these words that I write Of a friendship that constantly grew Friendship turned to love this night If only for you. Mixed feelings were all but a few Those perfect moments felt so right It was then that I loved you true. Our future ahead seemed so bright For this passion was something new My heart that I gave had taken flight If only for you. ![]() ----- Plaisir D'Amour The joys of love and dreams come true Shall only be sent from angels above With gentle whispers of words anew The Joys of love. How sweet those precious words of love That lingered deeply when feelings grew Of love that could only be dreamed of. 'Twas visions within the eyes they knew Soft and gentle as the wings of a dove Their spirits arose upon high to pursue The Joys Of Love. ![]() ----- River Bank By the rivers edge on a cloudless night Grew the tallest reeds and leafy sedge Thro` rippling waters by the moons light By the rivers edge. A perfect place to dream and pledge If I should return to this heavenly sight To the chatter of chicks barely fledge. Or to observe the playful water sprites As they swim in and out of the dredge So much is happening I shall re-unite By the rivers edge. ![]() ----- Sacred Bond No words were spoken for they both knew That loving hearts could never be broken For they felt the same as lovers often do No words were spoken. Their passions of love had fully awoken Since that day forth fond affections grew Both hearts were never to be forsaken. Soft shades of love with a rainbow hue Shone within eyes of loves sweet token As time passed on spirits remained true No words were spoken. ![]() ----- Time To Sleep This was the time, when autumn leaves the scene And winter frost upon misted meadows climb When Crimson berries hide thro` thorns of green This was the time. Birds upon boughs their ruffled feathers preen 'fore chills of snow filled clouds reign`d sublime And evening shadow`d snows appeared serene. Now autumn snow clad leaves remain unseen They sleep neath a carpet thro`out wintertime Deeper warmth from blankets of natures screen This was the time. ![]() ----- Unto The Night Nigh unto the night when shadows fall Remains ever silent deep within sight With only the sound of the ravens call Nigh unto the night. Spirits awakens `neath the moons light Shrouded within his feathered shawls Upon fleshless skulls shaded white. Deep are the socket whence he mauls Of vision that once saw daylight bright Now only cavities devoid of eyeballs Nigh unto the night. ![]() ----- The Waters Wide My love and I shalt soon grow wings Across the sea over clouds we fly The waters deep with tides that bring My Love And I. Lorainne DafneyOn my finger my mother's ring a reminder of her sweet love each day its brilliant sparkle brings sincere memories of, Jenny, gentle as a white dove I wish I could still hear her sing her many lullabies above the noise of everyday things, or smell her perfume on her gloves once again, a kiss, anything, sincere memories of. back to list |
Jem FarmerI feel the sea, the motion of the tide, The breaking waves that are the soul of me, And salty tears no longer dare to hide, I feel the sea. Those silent prayers to waves of majesty, As to the sea all secrets can confide, Can the swollen waters set a heart free? A lonely walk along the shore that cried, A darkened shadow, all that’s left to be, For these sorrows shall never be denied, I feel the sea. ![]() ----- A Poem of Desire In passions of the heart, the mind lies bare, And desire burns as coal in amber night, And nothing is hidden where touches share, In love's delight. Moist lips surrendered without a fight, And that one kiss leaves all senses aware, Where her gentle lips now nibble and bite. Her silken caresses as longings dare, Igniting the passions that crave the night, Want exposed to her hunger waiting there, In love's delight. ![]() ----- Hypnosis Siren sing for me, hypnotize my mind, Enchanted words afloating on the sea, Entranced thy beauty questing heart must find, Siren, sing to me. Your song shall lead me to where’re you be, My stolen heart was surly left behind, When you first sang upon the wind to me. How can such beauty be so cruel and unkind? Enraptured, alas I shall ne’er be free, A soul bereft, only your song reminds, Siren, sing to me! ![]() ----- No Looking Back Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened Dr Seuss No looking back, gaze upon tomorrow, And leave behind the pain where old tears track, Remember beauty carried where winds blow, No looking back. When all around is stained in tainted black, Recall the times a touch set life aglow, Such joy remains in the mind’s bric-a-brac. Do not cry for love when it turns to go, For its happiness has left its own plaque, And in the heart, a new love comes to grow, So don’t look back. ![]() ----- Sort of OK The usual grin to hide the long held pain A smile disguised the grief hidden within, Inside the heart is falling to insane, The usual grin. A cloaking device to keep the truth in, And let none see the simple smile is feign As tears return for all that might have been. So with the dawn the pain returns again, And through the day until the dreams begin, Whether the sun shines or clouds cry with rain, The usual grin! ![]() back to list |
Ivor HoggMy love is gone beyond my reach And I am left to mourn alone This cruel lesson fate can teach My love is gone Condemned to manage on my own I failed to practice what I preach That is the sin I must atone. Kevin McKinneyHe shoots, he scores! He routs the competition; As he's done e'er since he stood up from all fours. While step by step securing first position, He shoots, he scores! He thumps his chest, he pumps his fists and roars; Clutching a torch, digits in opposition, Indomitable, heir to the dinosaurs. Reacting with reptilian cognition, When his possessive nature comes to the fore; In a football match, or nation to nation, He shoots, he scores! -----

Ryter RoethicleBlue skies overhead, with streets of white clouds, Imagination creating pictures on shaped boards. Charcoal sketching on divine white shrouds. Blue skies overhead. Personal thoughts are their own reward, Conceiving images when allowed, Or just plain old clouds when ignored. Lazy afternoons spent away from crowds, And a canvas across the heavens spread, Thoughts seen without speaking out loud, Blue skies overhead. ![]() ----- Evening Falls As evening falls I find you are gone, Too many memories left withal, Finding my dreams have turned to stone, As evening falls. Now I find myself held in thrall, My bitterness dreading the dawn, Are you enjoying this, having a ball? I wish the sunsets to be withdrawn There can't be perfect nights at all. Perfection's become a broken bone As evening falls. ![]() ----- For A While She Dreamed For a while she dreamed of the ocean The dreams were memories of previous scenes Times of love that she would repeat again, For a while she dreamed. A future to recall all that love means She smiled remembering the beach in the rain They were so much older, no longer teens. But what teens begin, maturity must maintain Realising experiences replaced routines, Because of that each loving wouldn’t be the same For a while she dreamed. ![]() ----- Greenfield Park In Greenfield Park the Jacaranda's grow Scenting tranquil fragrances well after dark You sense them there, row after row In Greenfield Park. Their sensuousness set the benchmark In scents and feelings to parks I go. Whether day or night, light or dark. Funny thing is I'm addicted to this show It's part of the route of my morning walk Now they know me and I feel their glow In Greenfield Park. (Inspired in part by, 'In Flanders Field' 1915 & Nov 11) ![]() ----- Hate And Prejudice Hate and prejudice was learned as fact Fuelling eternally things we should dismiss; And all that was created by that act was Hate and prejudice. The behaviour of most adults is remiss We hear more about people being attacked Creating a larger cultural or religious abyss. Someday we’ll see masses of people enact Brotherly/sisterly love and hug and kiss And have learned tolerance and retract Hate and prejudice. ![]() ----- Here And Now Here and now, is it all that matters For what has been said will you avow? Or is it all been just useless chatter, Here and now? What has been taken as a vow Is inconsequential to one who flatters And time will prove truth anyhow. Dream as if you will live forever Smile and let this be your Tao. And let patience be your meter Here and now. ![]() ----- In The Summers River In the summer's river, we rage against the dying stream, Jacarandas sway and in the summers heat shimmer, Wine-coloured sun settings, as settling birds scream, In the summer's river. Served with laughter we enjoy the evening dinner Young mouths pitter-patter and hungry eyes gleam In the shallows, youngsters splash a fellow swimmer In the summer's river, we age slowly in our dreams We leave it with memories as night grows dimmer Summer's children, laugh with sun-kissed gleams In the summer's river. ![]() ----- Last Moments Of Love The last moments of love are like the tide receding Until that moment it conquered all thereof Then gave way without compromise, just retreating The last moments of love. But did love die, or disappear, or just had enough? Did it need a change or perhaps refreshing, Frustrated by rebuff and needed stronger stuff. Attention is the number one of most needing People need love and attention and the proof That all is not wasted, and there is no preceding The last moments of love. ![]() ----- Magic Or Prayer Bright sunbeams shine through your hair, And your flashing eyes out flaming mine, The magic scene made me stand and stare, Bright sunbeams shine. Are you working on some magic design, Dragging my poor loving heart into your lair? If you’re using spells how can I decline? Using such enchantment is hardly fair. I prefer to think of love as divine And you an answer to my humble prayer Bright sunbeams shine. ![]() ----- The Ocean is Dreaming The ocean is dreaming, each night’s the same Her gentle breathing cause the waves washing Each night she sleeps and wakes to a solar flame The ocean is dreaming. She is not at odds with any ship sailing Nor does she believe that all mankind is to blame She just considers some behaviour’s alarming. She sees whales murdered, "Research" the claim. Around the world she hears the protesters sing, And adds her voice but the criminals claim The ocean is dreaming. ![]() ----- Somewhere In Time Somewhere in time two lovers kissed Creating a mood just so sublime And all was still for that tryst Somewhere in time. As if creating an eternal springtime Nature added extra to a list And made the wish to be combined The world moved on as if been missed But really signifying that all was fine And the moon and stars witnessed this Somewhere in time. ![]() ----- When My Love Swears When my love swears she speaks the truth I have no doubt, I know she cares And of her love there is no drouth When my love swears. Her heart is on the sleeve she wears In no way does she stand there aloof She is the answer to all my prayers How can I think that she’d think untruths And yet of all this, she is quite unaware When it comes to love she’s the proof When my love swears. ![]() back to list |
Leny RooversGreen parakeets invade my yard; with starlings they will oft compete for peanuts or a piece of lard- green parakeets. As sparrows eat their fill of treats, they come in flocks, one standing guard as turtle-doves cry swift defeat. These blue-tailed strangers are diehards- flown from their cage, they now roam streets. Only black crows will disregard green parakeets. -----

Kathy & RyterWhat is life but events repeated time and again? It does not mean that you are content But that events form some sort of chain. What is life but events? Those events happen only until time is spent But isn’t that the basic source of refrain Or is it more about what is your intent? It depends where I am, what I do, to look again. Must it be something special this event, Or just a turning on of the working brain What is life but events? ----- Wheel Life is the wheel ever turning Making the hours go by fast Though some days drag with yearning, Life is the wheel. This wheel is neither slow nor fast It moves on with change it brings Always changes in futures cast. Mundane routines help our learning Though even these must change at last For new events that are occurring Life is the wheel. ![]() back to list |
