#04 ZaniLa Rhyme

The ZaniLa Rhyme is an interesting, modern repeating form. This form was created by Laura Lamarca, and consists of at least 3, 4 line stanzas.

The rhyme scheme for each stanza is the same as Long Measure,
a. b. (c1. c2.) b.
Instead of being Iambic Tetrameter it has a syllable count of
9. 7. (9.) 9.
Line 3 is a Repeating Line, which contains an internal rhyme and is repeated in each alternate stanza as in the first stanza. Each even stanza line contains the same line but with the two parts of the internal rhyme swapped. There is no maximum poem length.

Sing Me A Song

Give me a cloud so that I may sit
to watch the world far below;
Sing me a song and make me belong,
With a tune only you and I know.

Give me an angel, help me find peace
for a mind tortured in hell;
Make me belong, and sing me a song
Hum the tune and I'll sing it as well.

Give me your shoulder so I may cry,
release pain and take a rest;
Sing me a song and make me belong,
And we'll improvise upon request.

Give me your hand, together we'll walk
through our rainbow-coloured dreams;
Make me belong, and sing me a song
Sing Lovers' glory to the extreme.

Island Blues

I firmly believe my God is real
Though at times I must confess
I donít understand, was this all planned
Why are we in such a mess?

When I gaze at my beautiful isle
I weep at the things I see,
Was this all planned, I donít understand
This reign of disharmony.

ĎRainbow people,í that was what they called
Us, just a few years ago;
I donít understand, was this all planned,
This gore and constant blood flow?

Gang wars abound and drug killings too,
TheyĎre wiping out families,
Was this all planned? I don't understand,
God put a staying hand, please.

The Awakening

To wade through a field of poppies,
And rest by the waters edge,
Spring has sprung, the birds have sung
Living in nests of clover and sedge

To follow the last season harvest
A field was left to fallow
The birds have sung, Spring has sprung
With herbs of green sage and marsh mallow.

Spring is the seasons new awakening.
From the winters ice and snow,
Spring has sprung, the birds have sung
Watching as nature begins to flow.

It is sung as a tender love song
When awakened love unites,
The birds have sung, Spring has sprung
Whilst the loving spirits take flight.

Forsaken Love Returneth

Oh Where art thou my dearest one,
Thy sailed far away from I
With not a word, it was so absurd
Memories hath been left to die.

As I gaze towards the calming sea
My aching heart despaired
It was so absurd, with not a word
Rejection of love that we shared.

Do not thy forsaken this love we have,
Forgive, forget, and ignore
With not a word, it was so absurd
Reunite, and be lovers once more.

Make haste thy lover returneth to me,
I await by the shore this day.
It was so absurd, with not a word.
Deepened emotions ne-er fadeth away.

Let It Happen

Gather me closer show me the way
I may fill your heart with love
Come give me a sign say you are mine
Sincerely under heavens above.

Tell me you love me and that you care
Before we both bid goodnight
Say you are mine come give me a sign
Now that our future is looking bright.

Let us dance to sweet music, you and I
Togetherness shall enhance,
Come give me a sign, say you are mine
For this grande passionate romance.

True lovers now both come together
Like heat in the midday sun
Say you are mine, come give me a sign
Our spirits will be blending as one.

Memories

Nobody left to shower affections
Lonely was she and bereft
By candle light she perused at night
Her family have only grown up and left.

She had known love and contentment
Recalling how it was then,
She perused at night by candle light
Alone with her memories yet again.

Memories of children and laughter
The love she had in her home
By candle light she perused at night
Now she is left on her own, alone

And thanked God for these memories
For many a person had none,
She perused at night by candle light
Wide awake at dawn to praise the rising sun.

The Sorcerers Cat

Black as night is the cat of the witch.
Shades of jaded green eyes.
Retracted her claws, without a cause
As she awaits her sourcerers cries.

Spirits she shared with heart and soul,
Developing her ritual flair,
Without a cause, retracted her claws,
Warning to victims, she will impare.

Black as the night with no moon or stars,
Black as her robed enchanter,
Retracted her claws, without a cause.
Black shines the coat of a panther.

Spiritual Love

The Love she once had was hers alone,
Remembered by this day,
For once he had gone, so sad was she
Now his love remains with her to stay

He writes of his love, for ever more,
To hold and cherish for ever,
So sad was she, For once he had gone.
Then forever shalt surely be never.

He wrote of life and he wrote of death
That she would stay in his heart.
For once he had gone. So sad was she
But their spirits will never depart.

She walks with him in the springtime
Both walking hand in hand.
So sad was she, For once he had gone
But she learned how to understand.

Through his words he is still her lover
His letters remain intact.
For once he had gone, So sad was she
The love she longed for she lacked.

Together now in spirit and form
No more shall they be apart
So sad was she,for once he had gone
Remained forever close in her heart.

Titanic

A liner once sailed upon the ocean wide
To America`s shores was bound,
Technology grew, proud were the crew
Whilst the passengers all slept sound.

This ship was the largest to be built
Designed of the very latest,
Proud were the crew, technology grew
They were assured it was the safest.

The journey was far, the ship sped forth
A race hurriedly started
Technology grew, proud were the crew
Unknowing they fatally parted.

But the outcome was thus unforeseen
Mountains of ice submerged,
Proud were the crew, technology grew
Until sunk by that fatal ice-berg.

Passengers lost to the frozen ocean
A chosen few saved in boats
Technology grew, proud were the crew
Whilst life jackets kept the dead afloat.

Lessons may be learned by tragedy,
When lives forever have gone
Proud were the crew, technology grew
Whilst their heroic band still played on.

The Woodlands in Spring

Oh lets go down to the bluebell woods
On this lovely Spring day,
When Spring is here, Easter is near
And summer solstice is on its way.

Oh lets all take a look around us,
As ferns unfurl their fronds
Easter is near, when Spring is here
With wild flowers in glades beyond.

Come take my hand and walk with me
To the woodlands we shall go.
When Spring is here, Easter is near.
And fragrance of musks gently flow.

We shall rest amongst the primroses
To harken the sweet birds song.
Easter is near, when Spring is here.
Harmony above all remains strong.

Gently Wakes

A kiss of warmth is not far away,
the hope of life shall return
with annual joy, Spring is born again,
when daffodils bloom in garden urn.

As the dormant Earth now gently wakes,
awash with colour she sings,
Spring is born again, with annual joy,
we see the hope in these simple things.

The spritely vigour of nascent life
is found in the floral beds
with annual joy, Spring is born again,
crocus and tulips, showing their heads.

And hearts too, turn to new horizons
seeking love's desiring glow,
Spring is born again, with annual joy,
and Winter knows it is time to go.

Sing Me a Lullaby

Restless nights wrestling my empty dreams
stars move; I stare into space
On windsí soft cry, sing me lullaby
at last, I see the shape of your face.

So long, Iíve been wishing your loveís song
now I canít hear you enough
sing me lullaby on windsí soft cry
my sweet dragon comes to call my bluff

And love we tried to hide and deny
has become something we need
on windsí soft cry, sing me lullaby
for Fate has planted Her loving seed

The Green Beast

I watched them as they plant the bush
Ignorant of the beauty there
Nature is green, itís man thatís obscene
When any thing needs real love and care.

In spring like man, everything is born
Emerging from winterís womb
Itís man thatís obscene, Nature is green
As lifeís mantel begins to resume.

Assuming man will destroy all things
Greenies tell lies, to get their way
Nature is green, itís man thatís obscene
Because of their lies firemen must pay..

Lark Ascending

The lark ascends into the blue sky
See her joy and watch her play
See the lark ascend, all else transcends
So close to Heaven most of her day.

The lark ascends over green clad hills
Her sound, her song, echoes back
All else transcends, see the lark ascend
Flying straight up oer mans winding track.

The lark descends as the night draws nigh
Her song a little subdued
See the lark ascend, all else transcends
But with the night comes a change of mood.

Penrith Parrots

Listen as Galahs Settle for the night
Itís Penrith, hardly the bush
Settling in the trees, carried by the breeze
Cause the roadside trees are green and lush.

Every night there is this cacophony
As they brag and talk Ďbout the day
Carried by the breeze, settling in the trees,
But all at once seem to have their say.

Early morning it starts once again
Who needs a clock with this row
Settling from the trees, carried by the breeze
And telling me, ďHuman, wake up nowĒ.

Unwanted Love

What memories of spring I recall
Too few to sate my desires
Or perhaps regret, and then forget,
Early spring is when love lights her fires.

New found life is the same everywhere
Experiment, experience
And then forget or perhaps regret,
Because of pain, loveís only tried once.

A half empty nest is a poor state
Thatís not intended by fate
Now comes regret, and a wish to forget,
Then comes summer and you have no mate

Walk With Me

Dearest! Walk with me in the moonlight
You and I this starry night
As we cross the sands weíre holding hands.
Youíll be my Lady and I your Knight.

I love walking with you in moonlight
Itís a feeling so sublime
Weíre holding hands as we cross the sands.
Our spirits united for all time.

Walk with me across these sandy dunes
No birds will sing to us here
As we cross the sands weíre holding hands
Only you and me this starry night.

Know that desert sands have memories
Eternal secrets hid by time
Weíre holding hands as we cross the sands.
Weíll make memories that are prime.

Your Spring

In my home autumnís now three days long
Whilst for you, springs not begun
Ours is months away, just another day
And winter has no snow just sun.

With no worries about storms of snow
Our big concern is only rain
Just another day, ours is months away
But what good is it going down the drain?

Too long in neglecting what to do
Missing the showers of spring
Ours is months away, just another day
Because without rain, spring is missing

Be thankful for spring and rain in May
Worship green and budding life
Just another day, ours is months away
Without rain youíll find nothing but strife.

ZaniLa Tyme

The Moon is full, now hear the beast cry
Beware the beast Ďware his bite
Hear the beasts cry, now prepare to die
There is every reason for your fright

See how hellish beasts now fill the night
Soft padding sounds are all round
Now prepare to die, hear the beasts cry
Beware the beast and his fatal sounds

Too late now feel your life slipping past
As muscles tense out of fright
Hear the beasts cry, now prepare to die
As evil beasts take over the night

A large gold cross and silver bullets
Might ward off some, kill a few
Now prepare to die, hear the beasts cry
Realise tonightís victim will be you.

Zu Spšt (Too Late)

Itís too late to write about how I feel
It should have been done earlier
When Iím wide awake, nothings at stake
Now my love problems become curlier.

He that hesitates is lost
A clichť that is so true
Nothings at stake, when Iím wide awake
But now when I dream itís without you.

But wait, what is that vision I see?
Itís you, sitting before me.
When Iím wide awake, nothings at stake
Because youíre right here where you should be.

Candied Dreams

Altered by sleep spring sweetly seeps in
With gumdrop stars sparkling
Violet taffy skies, not high,
All become indigo pond swirling.

Curling ribbon candy along trails
Flower dappled lime frosting
Not high, violet taffy skies
Above frosted fields fleeing.

Where rivers of lemonade run pink
Into oceans now rainbows,
Violet taffy skies, not high,
Painted by marshmallow clouds that glow.

Winters Lights

Bleak Grey snow becomes bejeweled hills
Dirty hills transformed by light,
Throwing lights, showing eyes delights
Breaking the blue of blues, pure will.

Blond gold days of gossamer springs
Glowy spring forgets winters,
Showing eyes delights, throwing lights,
Undarkening depressive canters.

Breathless canters the suns rays down,
Under street lights a pink glow
Throwing lights, showing eyes delights,
Falling crystals iridescent flow.
