2010 Poetry Form Challenge

#16 Dizain

Although the Decastich or Sonnetina is a popular form, this one seems to have become neglected in favour of the others.
This was originally a French form and initially would have been made up of eight syllable lines, but later ten syllable lines were also used. A few examples of this form in England did prefer Iambic Pentameter, but that's purely up to the poet.
The rhyme scheme is: a. b. a. b. b. c. c. d. c. d.
Golden Lord

Listen again as the chorus calls out
At the transition from darkness to light
Hearing the Galahs as they loudly shout
Revelling in the freedom from last night,
And like other avians prepare for flight.
The wakened sun sends out its golden shoots
As scouts leading the way along its route
Heralding the passage of the lord of day
See each dawn the Angels make their salute
Welcoming the Golden One passing by.

Bang, Bang... You're Dead!

It seemed an ordinary market day,
'Til two women declared a robbery,
Pushing bystanders roughly out their way;
They grabbed a vendor's bag with her money
And jumped into a parked car; but quickly
The victim followed and halfway inside
She held on for dear life, a killer ride.
A female cop fired once then again;
One thief sprawled on her steering wheel... she died.
The next expired face down in a drain.

Dizzy Days

I'm half asleep I hear the phone
Forty more winks are all I need
The dogs are barking and I groan
I leap from bed with lightening speed.
Was I the idiot that agreed
To take two dogs? I must be mad
But I do love them, I must add.
Someone is calling at the gate
The postman, the mail has been bad,
Maybe my package is here... late.

No such luck, just schoolboys passing
En route to school; how they insist
On teasing the dogs, harassing
Them; day in day out they persist;
If I catch one I swear I'll twist
His grubby neck quite cheerfully.
I prepare breakfast, one, two, three.
I wash, I fold, 'swiffer' and clean
Read emails and some poetry;
No time to write... see what I mean?

Tomas

Tropical storm Tomas is here
He's threatening our twin island state
It seems he came out of nowhere;
He had no 'invite', made no date,
An intruder at our gate.
I wish that he'd just go away,
I'm sure the sea would love to play
A game with him, leave us alone,
Whilst they frolic in ocean spray;
Tomas you make our islands groan!

It seems our prayer was not ignored
Tomas passed by us quietly;
I hope now that he does not hoard
His strong winds and his energy
And wait to release his fury
On some poor unsuspecting place.
I pray that he has run his race
Will fizzle out and quickly die
Not leaving e'en the faintest trace..
Tomas good riddance and good bye!

Angels of Earth

There are Angels here on Earth
Who dwell in this vast domain
Tho` they are somewhat dearth,
There are but few who remain
Kind considerate and humane ;
Angels spirits return to save
Restive souls who haunt the grave
Theirs is a peace to find herein,
A tranquil haven once depraved
Of Earths Angels who dwell within.

-----

Cosmic Fantasy

In the depth of a dream
Fantasies reign supreme
Pathways within realms in space;
Stepping stones to the stars
Betwixt Earth moon and mars,
Where figments of dreams interlace;
Shooting stars show the way
Thro` a magic mystical spray
To the land where angels grace.

Earth spirits arise to find
A haven of another kind
Thro` mists of cosmic showers;
Creations of peace within
For a new life to begin
Sunsets amidst the bowers;
Amidst celestial rainbows
While Kaleidoscopic shows
Shades of unearthly flowers.

-----

Dance Of Desire

Now, my love come softly to me
Smother me with sensuous desire,
Let the love in our hearts flow free
Like heat from a smouldering fire
Let us feel our bodies transpire;
As the rhythm changes it`s beat
We shall no longer feel the heat,
While the temperature goes round
And the spiritual dance is complete
Then passionate lovers are bound.

-----

Ebb And Flow

Reaching out for love in dreams
When I feel you are there with me
Filling my heart with joy it seems
`Til the tides of the seas break free;
And flowed in tones of ecstacy
So fierce were the oceans waves
Such depth of the watery graves,
Mood swings from rough to calm
Clinging seaweed in silent caves
With gentle touch of soothing balm.

-----

Eyes Can Speak

If eyes could see inside my mind
The thoughts that lay deep within
For bitter tears I hath left behind
Now that happiness dwells therein
And this love in my heart shall win;
When a soft light flickers through
Like warm flames of tallows aglow
As the bright moon shines below,
My eyes now say that I love you
And gentle sighs of breezes blow.

While gentle sighs of breezes blow
Soft whispers murmur on this night
Shallow ripples of water doth flow
As spent tallows burn off the light
Then this love in my heart feels right;
When dawn awakens the morning dew
From sleepy dreams of indigo blue
Where eternal love dwells in the skies,
Lay signs that say he loves me too
Deep in the mist of his loving eyes.

-----

Fantasy Muse

On high with geese in the sky she flew
In fantasy she rose thro` mists of time
High above the foam on a sea of blue
From beneath the depth of oceans brine
Guiding her craft in an upwards climb;
She arose from the surf of the ocean
Far cry from the earths loud commotion
Afloat with the Gods thro`rolling shrouds,
Within this realm of heavenly devotion
Promised her love afar from the clouds

-----

Ghostly Image

Who is this face I can see behind
Does my looking glass tell me a lie
Reflecting spirits of a deathly kind,
Who had ne-er been ready to die
Why this haunting look to your eye;
Are thee an ancestor from the past
Whose memory hath been miscast
Rest oh spirit from this silent gloom,
Turn your eyes from mirrored glass
Take thy ghostly form unto thy tomb.

-----

In Spite Of Ourselves

Affection we share near and dear
Has bound both hearts entwined
In spite of love we have no fear
We are both just two of a kind
The same dreams are in our mind
Seductive, teasing love we share
For dreams of love are ever there
Your meant for me and I for you
Never been a more destined pair
In spite of love I know we knew.

-----

Legend Of The Braves

On this land brave hearted warriors behold
May the lost spirits of your ancestors roam
Where great legends of your Chieftains unfold
In wild open spaces you had named your home,
Upon painted stallions, bearing nostrils of foam;
Parched desert plains where only Cactus grows
Towards mountain tracks, where cool water flows,
Let these tumbling waterfalls quench your thirst
And survive with buffalo in cold winters snows
To be nurtured ne-er be damned nor cursed.

-----

A Lonely Child

I in my youth, a mere shadow in a room
For not a word had I dared to converse
Alone in a corner in my darkened gloom,
Oh how I wished I had been the reverse
And why as a child had I been so terse;
Painfully shy of strange company around
If noticed my heart shrunk to the ground
My inferiority was so very complexed
I just longed to hide and never be found
Which pained me much and left me vexed.

Then many years on, I changed completely
As I got older I had learned to fight back
Although at first I had changed discreetly
It took some years to retrieve what I lack,
I am pleased to say I am now on track
Changed I am, though I shed many tears
But I stop somehow to banish my fears.
And sometimes I try to slip quietly behind
But that has now altered after many years
My outlook has changed my piece of mind.

-----

Meadows Green

I laid my head on meadows green,
By a bank where the river runs free
On cushion of moss I slept serene
And dreamed of my love for thee
Oh how wantonly thou came to me;
With a passion `twas cruel to deny
Was it love percieved in thine eye,
Simultaniously then within a dream
Two hearts were meant to comply.
This fantasy`s of love shalt redeem.

-----

My Guardian Angel

If I should ever fall from grace
Should there be any hope for me
Bound in dreams I cannot trace,
Only a guardian angel could free
While heavenly spirits then see;
As I float upon a deep sea spray
Unto this vision I shall now pray
For I fear I shall ne-er be brave,
To find I was blessed this day
And rescued from a silent grave.

-----

Nature's Teasure

I was free as a bird when young
And in love with natures wonder
I ran through the fields and sung,
Thro` woodland trees did wander
Crossed bridges with rivers under;
Rambled over fine purple heather
With mother of nature together
Neath clouds in a pale blue sky,
A dream had come true forever
Amidst natures treasure trod I.

-----

Noah's Ark Fantasy

As crystal droplets float from the sky
Of solar raindclouds in the hemisphere
When guardian angels of neptune cry
And horsemen from the sky appear
You will know at once the end is near;
Unto this Earth strange crafts were made
Trees were sawn by the carpenter trade
Survival of life was all they could do
The young and healthy made the grade;
`Twas animals that went in two by two.

-----

Only A Woman

I hear your voice within my dreams
Sweet whispers of true love divine
Your their beside me so it seems;
With promises that you were mine
It was but visions in my mind
A woman in love with all her heart
Thats broken in two and torn apart;
But within this heart I still love you
And making up is a work of art
Only a woman shall love you true.

Puppy For Life

Please don`t scold me dont be mad
I never mean to hurt you this way
For what I did has made you sad,
I only needed some toys to play
Was not to know, I did wrong today;
I`m very young but willing to learn
And only wanted good points to earn
Sorry I chewed your brand new mat
Never thought you would be so stern,
I might even be pals with the cat
Dont send me back to pups concern.

Shipwreck

Of Lord Franklins Ship.

Oh gallant ship upon the sea
Once raised thy billowed sails,
And all that glory was to be
Though stormy wind prevails;
Thou sailed against the gales
`Twas a doomed exploration
Ne`er docked the said location
Thy shalt not sail no more
Amidst the seas crustaceans
Doomed to the cold sea floor.

Once a ghost ship of the deep.
Lost in the frozen North Pole
His ship the icy waters keep
For he dared to reach his goal
But this ocean received lost souls;
This skeleton ships time hath past
A final destiny ended too fast
When the melted Ice withdrew
His ship had been found at last
But all that remained was few.

Unexpected Guests

A beautiful Jay flew onto my tree
With him he had brought his mate
This blessing was a treasure to me
They were either too early or late
To nest in spring would be just great
But autumn chicks would surely die,
Warmth this day is in short supply
With frost and winter upon its way,
But heart and soul I shall but try
To nurture and keep both this day.

Mayhaps they will wait until spring
Whilst they snuggle all winter long
Then awaken summer time and sing,
Their most beautiful mating song
When the winter shall soon be gone
There`s sure to be eggs in the nest
Then finally they shall be blessed,
So on, the cycle shall flow once more
For mother nature does her best
As always has many times before.

Catnap

How beautifully she displayed the flowers
Each one gracefully enhanced the bouquet
Even the housecat checked it each hour
If it could speak I'd wonder what it say
As its long whiskers brushed by on the way
To the backyard garden where roses grew
Beneath pine trees arching to a sky blue
He'd carefully step between the new blooms
Settle down take a nap and sleep right through
The wind carrying new scents of perfume

Embracing Your Love

You entered my heart with laughter and joy,
Ignited thoughts once thought loving and kind.
Stimulating, waking Love thoughts destroyed.
Your captivating charm so hard to find,
Your always the main attraction on my mind.
Our souls touched, embracing a new spiritual dance,
You are my love that makes my love stance.
Each day, each night I spend admiring you,
Our hopes, ours dreams swing in intense romance.
Your a friend, a love beyond deja vu.

Loves Serenade

Awed and awakened to the sound
Of soft flowing words off his tongue
Kissing every word floating 'round
His love songs wrote, whispered and sung
Masterminded words drift and swung
Loving solitude with his notes
Holding, embracing words he wrote
A phenomenal art displayed
Feeling his love from notes and quotes
Stunned by his truthful; serenade

-----

This Flame

I send you my love tonight from my soul
Wishing you were here to mend and console
My heart feels so empty without you
I feel the darkness of grey and dark blue
The only way to touch you is in my mind
The images are fading and hard to find
The glow from the light is growing quit dim
At this moment it's looking awfully grim
I am starting to be with alot of doubt
As I sit and watch The flame go out.

Reason A Poteet

Silence Mourning

Silence mourning, you who've borne no children;
mute derision and bear it no longer.
Beg not for mercy if you are barren
for barreness may prove you the stronger.
Your fruit lies in the way which you conquer
scorn - apparent un-productivity.
Another's offspring - your proclivity.
Teach them truths which bearers fail to mention;
teach self-discipline as necessity.
Deliver well, mothers of invention.

-----

Spider's Purse

Admire her casting, lines of silky floss;
survey as artist drafts her masterpiece.
Enclosing space invisibly across,
then single-handedly, she will increase
the center parts to form unseen valise.
A purse of unsuspected, vicious taint -
its straps in hand, she naps, a wily feint.
Artistic beauty flows, but will soon ebb.
When tender insects clutter her restraint,
artiste awakes to wealth within her web.

Arrossisca dei Baci

A blush of kisses shall cover thy body
And dreams shall be thy pillow tonight.
Our beating hearts provide the melody
With a shy new moon to provide the light.
Pleased, that moon will smile at the sight.
Too soon dawn will interrupt our time
Disrupting our spell together oh so fine,
And then father sun will enter our site
Together we will watch his daily climb
Anxiously waiting to begin a new night.

-----

Birdsongs and Bees

How peaceful it all looks after the rain
The green is green again and not burnt brown.
The flowers are now looking less than plain
Scented as if 'twere Natures bridal gown,
The roses appearing like her natural crown.
The avian life finally bursts out songs of joy
Bringing forth revived feelings that we enjoy.
Feelings that remained dormant for so long
Other distractions used soon began to annoy
All removed now by these simple birdsongs.

A week or more of springtime's showers
And we're forgetting all those years of drought
'Stead we're seeing lush growing bowers
Where poetry will be conceived without a doubt
With blue skies and green bush there's no block out.
As well as birdsongs there is the humming of bees
Who have forever nested in the close bye trees
There is no threat from them, only a blessing
They are necessary and their deeds only please.
After all they pollinate all the fancy dressing.

-----

Gossip

Does the wind talk with you as you walk along,
Is it your company it seeks, or you it?
Do you whisper secrets in a magic tongue,
Or listen to all sorts of juicy tit bits?
Do you listen to all this then re-submit
Your take, adding or subtracting what you think,
Then walking away leaving her with a wink?
Or did you not hear, too busy lost in thought
The walk serving only to make you think
And the answer came to what you sought.

-----

Hope Eternal

The nights stillness was devoid of sound
Only the echo of memories remained
Mindful when the darkness surrounds
Of my loves absence unexplained
Yet seemingly easily obtained.
The brief time we spent in eternity
Left me longing for what could be.
If by chance we should once again meet
Could our longings finally agree
So that our souls could be complete.

-----

Late Spring Night

Wee creatures play in the shrubbery below
The warm afternoon echoes with happy sounds.
After the rain there is softer golden glow
Faeries thrive and dance, happiness abounds.
Sitting, Oberon surveys his regal surrounds,
Smiling casually reflecting on last night,
And about Titania's unwilling plight.
Under a spell of his, she loved an ass.
Some women do, often for more than a night
And regret ever picking up on that pass.

-----

New Era

I was in heaven for just a short while
Now I have returned to earth knowing
It's not wealth or such that makes me smile.
It's the power of love, seeing it growing,
The flush on your face and seeing it glowing.
A new era has begun within my heart;
A certainty of souls that will never part
And a knowledge that together in time
Our loving would become so fine an art
That together we'll make the final climb.

-----

Night Wishes

Let us lie together in a golden field
That is bathed by the smiling moon.
In time our love will be revealed
As shadows across the meadows strewn.
Praying the night will not be over too soon
With too much love that is left unstated.
And yet with bodies that are fully sated
I wish the night was a longer time.
Taking advantage of what we had created
The moons ascending would be a slower climb.

-----

Questions of Blame

What dreams that were born, transpired today?
Do they wait for the wind to whisper their name
Like a supermarket line on a busy day?
Are we all judged and treated the same
Or does that whispering wind play a game?
Is love just a vapour of mystical smoke
And cupids arrow a casual sticks poke?
Does he carefully select a pair and aim
Knowing that true love is never a joke
And in the end he is the one to blame?

-----

Touched by an Angel

If an angel touches you on the arm
Do you shrug it off and ignore it
Or thank him and feel the warmth.
He is a stranger, and yet you permit
This intimacy and willingly commit
To this unknown person that’s with you
Who will help, so you pass through
Your problems and tribulations
Perhaps giving another point of view
To help you with all of your relations.

-----

Unconditioned

Our bodies and minds conditioned by life
Must show no emotion and our feeling keep.
Offer your heart before love says goodbye,
For too long now, your heart has been asleep
But slowly through joy, we're learning to weep
And now there are tears and hearts open again.
Not tears or sobs of a heart wrenched in pain
Freedom from letting it out after all these years
Now there is sunshine after all that rain
I will hold and kiss you, and remove your fears.

-----

Unhappy Wakeup

Each morn I awake with you by my side,
But because it's a dream I believe it real.
And because it's a dream with you I abide,
There is no doubt, I reach out and I feel.
And because it' a dream I cannot conceal,
There are no untruths in what is said at night.
Then there is a noise and everything is right
I awake once more to what is real, reality
And what a wake up call that can be
Instead of a happy wake up, I found misery.

-----

Veteran of Love

The creature within me weeps without being seen
My pain is deep and I would hear laughs of scorn
And derision coming from those "never been's"
Who have dared naught since the day they were born.
Love is like a rose but best beware the thorn,
But do not drop that gem because of the odd prick
Just be more careful, aye that's the only trick,
Then you will realise you have a gift from above.
Be honest and faithful and too your love stick,
Take all this advice from a veteran of love.

-----

Virgin Moon

Walking to my room looking up at the night sky
I can see the moon hiding behind a cloud.
She's full, but to me looks so young and shy
Hardly the inspirer that looks lusty and proud,
That worldwide lovers pray to, long and loud.
Instead she looks innocent and free from sin
And all her ways would once more begin.
I feel blessed she should show such intimacy
Smiling down at me behind a cloudy curtain
And wonder now, did she select just me?

-----

Visions in the Mirror

In the mirror I see shadows moving
There is no threat or intimidation
Or any sign of them disapproving.
They're there, on duty, at their station.
Sometimes there's a form, a sensation,
A face that for a while recognised me
Smiled, and I wondered who it could be.
Then things would be normal, he went away
It could be ages before I could again see
The next time I saw him, I wished he'd stay.

Angel Signs

Do you see inside my window
All the life it holds within it?
From here I peer with thoughts to sow
In hopes to find a symbol fit
To call a sign from that one bit
Of angels dust, to show me signs.
That perhaps pity is your wine
While sorrow has become just sour
Grapes that say too long on the vines,
Pities white horse runs with power.

-----

Imaginary

At first there was one only,
But one giant sun of suns
Which exploded cleanly
Into billions more, begun
Like so many rosey runs
Across an emerald sky
Full of dreams that cannot fly
In the face of elements
Beyond the scope of all whys,
Imaginary advents.

-----

Fission

Split apart like an acorn from
It's parent oak tree, a seed
Also cracks the shell to thencefrom
Create new energy and speed
Up life's process to again breed
In circular manner or greed
Of root toward leafy green bower,
The test begins with renewed strength
Released in earthen wraps power
Like atoms colliding in youngth.

-----

Lovely Lindens

If ever there were prettier trees
Then none prettier, Lindens grow.
As I planted and watched them, see,
It came to me that this I know,
Such loveliness they share and show
To all Gods creatures ever born
Angels blessed them and played their horns
Calling all to evince their art,
Flower and berry, not sharp thorn,
Elegant add romance to hearts.

Feelings Are Flying

Overwhelming thoughts of your touch
Fill up all my senses with you
As with paintings, words we retouch
And make more memorable hues
Emotional feelings construe
At times dripping darkened blue words
Words that blur loving sighs once heard
Scenes now become heavenly mist
Dreaming, Feeling what we preferred
Feelings are flying, Once we've kissed

-----

Feelings Of Pain

Feelings are flying, Once we've kissed
Falling for the same old emotional abuse
Beaten, raped; knifed, can't be dismissed
Alone I sit, no longer his ruse
He’s gone, he's gone, he blew his fuse
His thoughts were always kill, kill, kill
Hard drugs, booze and aids took his will
He turned his last thought on himself
He raped the young, baptized the ill
True Feelings covered; Kills oneself.

-----

Feelings Of Anger-Killing

True Feelings covered; Kills oneself
Anger runs rapid, all over the land
Overestimating themselves
Disrupting all systems command
Bombs bursting and killings at hand
Hiding from power, scared not they say
I say, foolish life's they portray
Yet they say, they have no fear
Thy shall not kill is meaningless today?
Twisting, turning where feelings are more clear

-----

Feelings of Like

Twisting, turning where feelings are more clear
I'm Embracing the likes of you
A man to treasure and draw near
Soft music played low, Liking things we do
Candle light dining for two
We felt the sensation of need
enjoyed many moments we disagreed
As we Shared all aspects of poetry
and excited times we both agreed
Friendship smiled and answered our plea…

-----

Feelings of Friendship

Friendship smiled and answered our plea
Like the colors of autumn leaves change
we drifted together in harmony
There were times harsh words were exchanged
calmly forgiving at a visual range
As we stroll down life's friendship lane
feeling the strains, benefits we obtain
Greetings come on regular bases
Talking; driving each other insane (hehe)
Closely weaving a time where Love takes place

-----

Feelings Of Love

Closely weaving a time where Love takes place
Reunited, dinning to classical waves
Our eyes are locked, meeting face to face
I broke the spell, and said: what’s your craves
He leaned over and whispered: he was brave!
Our eyes told stories of a loving romance
He took my hand, and said: one more dance
One more dance to further entice our minds
A sexual embrace, it was our last chance
He carried me off, love struck and blind…

-----

Feeling Heaven

Up the spiral staircase in the penthouse
Oh, such thoughts were charisma in our minds
Suddenly, he spoke of a man name Gauss
I was intrigued; and quiet as a book louse
We were in a Heavenly talk; understand?
Feeling relaxed, undressed, lending our hands
Falling deep in a Heavenly romantic clutch
Our last climax; together we died Loving; Ain't Love Grand!
Overwhelming thoughts of your touch

Mirror of Senses
Ryter Roethicle

Sight: the first sense:

Your reflection in the window
Each time we pass I look at it
Do your eyes hide all your sorrow
Showing only what you permit?
My inquisition they do not admit
What lurks behind your smile
Your love and me you so beguile
But you turn to me, I will admit
Wondering should I wait a while
Do your eyes hide all your sorrow
And hear only what you permit?

-----

Sound: the second sense:

Hearing only what you permit,
Of the depth of your love I wonder.
You do not speak, will not admit
Or help to cast my doubts asunder.
The sound of you my heart thunders
To hear you speak to see you smile
To listen to you, even for a while,
Knowing thy time is Heaven sent
And with thy words there is no guile
Becoming familiar with thy scent.

-----

Smell: the third sense:

Becoming familiar with thy scent,
Your reflection doesn't bring me hope.
That mirrored image doth torment
My sense of smell, giving me nought.
Unlike memory and what that brought
What can compare to your presence.
The physical source of your essence,
But oh to sample would you allow?
How may I gain acquiescence
To know what flavour it doth endow.

-----

Taste: the fourth sense:

To know what flavour it doth endow.
My lips would savour every bit.
That reflection won't help me now
Stead to patience I must submit.
But too your love I will commit
Lips longing to make their debut,
And from then on each day renew
The taste of your kisses, upon me
And my lips and kisses upon you,
Wondering where your touch will be.

-----

Touch: the fifth sense:

Wondering where your touch will be,
Not that reflection's in the glass.
By now I know that what I see
Has no depth, or breadth or mass.
Your shape or form it can't surpass,
A physical body, to love, to feel,
That gives this feeling, not surreal
How can I make your heart grow
So that we can share what is real
With hearts touching and blending so.

-----

Soul: the sixth sense:

With hearts touching and blending so,
The love light that your soul emits
Are you Juliet and I your Romeo?
What do I see, what do you permit
Is it love for me you must admit?
What lurks behind your sultry smile
Am I the lover you wish to beguile?
Must you forever show such sorrow
Stay with me e'en for just a while
Break down walls with me tomorrow

-----

Breaking Down Walls - Sense at last

Break down walls with me tomorrow
And with each brick remove your fear
With that fear see your sorrows go
Hearing finally all you need to hear
A scented love with a touch so dear.
Our souls say please, it must be
Remove the last of the debris
Taste true love and truly show
All is open now, I cannot see
Your reflection in the window.

Colors
Nia Wynne

Blue Jay

In Azure skies fly blue diamonds
Bold of wing and raucous of cry,
Carry's confidence as he bonds
Turquoise heavens and earthly sigh
Of wind and water to espy
Another blue day and dark night
In indigo wash, favored flight,
A time to remove fear, take life
By the hand and walk with new sight
Into lapis dreams hand of rife.

-----

Blackness

Carbonada is the new moon,
Soft to the eye, hard to be touched,
So far from view, so long from noon
Where lackluster stars seem there couched,
Hidden, though awaiting nights clutch,
And dreams remain obsidian
Dark, no hours meridian,
For onyx thoughts wishing for more
Than a nightmares glut soon to begin,
Devouring hope, light and doors.

-----

Solemn Browns

Blustery days blowing brown leaves
Over wheaten blades in old fields,
Fodder for next years sunny weaves
Of summer days spent in the wilds,
Leaping fawns carrying my child's
Dreams into oaken leas of buff
Pheasants following along tough
Trails of wizened sage and pastures
Golden in the noonday suns bluff,
Where only faeries may adjure.

-----

Verdegris

A patina of jade remains
On the skeleton of a roses
Buds and branches covered by rain,
And a stain of pink still poses
It's former glorious bright red,
Now a sickly tint of gray-dead
Waiting for springs verdant wed,
Under snow and ice so pale,
To sun fed grass, tree and rose bed
The like which thrush sing of in dales.

Carmine, Be Mine

The heart of the matter is love
Which carries the weight of rubies,
Golden in sunlight far above
Red sand deserts asperities,
Arid like red wine, as you please,
Another cup to take with sups
In sanguine moments so swept up
You could hold them in maroon skies
Lit in setting suns arms, close up,
With warm crimson-garnet in eyes.

-----

Grays

Shadows on the walls are haunting
Every move I make, as feet ache
To follow the sun, light flaunting
Garb of yellow rays that give wake
To swans swimming in shallow lakes
Like cloudy days, colorlessly
Wearing young bird drabs, no lovely
White or black of yin-yang fates.
Not what I expected to see
When dawns rose stole twilights deep slate.

-----

Chromatic

The character of the rainbow
Is of scales of hue that are true,
That refract in your eyes, like now,
As love lets all colors in view
To count their numbers, never few,
But a spectrum of light to thee
For being a special bright glee
In a heart held fast by the blues,
Joy found it's end in how you see
A different blend of just two.
